Ms Gretchen, this is a super video. I laughed and marveled and learned some good stuff. My favorite parts were the foil lessons and the bed color saga. Thank you for bringing joy and inspiration to your many Dolls!
I think I had a cotton handkerchief like your pillow cases. The first things we learnt to iron as youngsters. Our Sunday school collection would be tied in the corner so not to lose it. Oh the memories of years gone by brought back by the sight of a piece of fabric. 😂🥰
This is a helpful tutorial- the entire bed is cohesive and looks so nice with the lace addition. I had pillowcases with that exact floral pattern in the 1960's!
Well - what a process (!) for such a beautiful end result! Keeping it real, Gretchen - that’s you! Love it! You always inspire me and also make me laugh at times … your glue recovery journey is okay! One slip doesn’t negate the growth! 😌. The linens are just perfect with the bed! Those sweet pillowcases look exactly like vintage pillowcases we had in our household! Thanks for another great video! ❤️ Kathleen
Thank you so much Kathleen! I always appreciate your feedback! I'm so glad you are inspired and I make you laugh 😂! Glad those pillowcases, brought back pleasant childhood memories! Thank you so much for being here! 😃❤️💖❤️💖❤️
The first pink that you didn't like reminds me of older ladies' corsets in the 1960s in the UK. I love that colour, & now I can see how it's made. Thank you 😂 😊
What an inviting bed, I could jump right in!! Color on bed looks great, I'm planning on making a scrap quilt with my DIL, tiny squares, finger crossed😂
Thank you Vicki! 😊 I really think I will be using the heavy duty Foil a lot more! It was easy, inexpensive and less messy, than the water and glue solution!
That bed looks beautiful, and so comfy and cozy, I can just imagine crawling under the covers for a good night's sleep! I always love your choice of colors, I love vintage rose patterns too. A long time ago at a rummage sale with my mother, I found maybe a yard of an actual rose bud pattern from maybe the 50s I'm guessing. I just treasure it even though I've yet to find any specific use for it. It reminds me of times at my grandma's so long ago. As for your chronic glue habit, straight from the bottle, uh oh!😮
That sounds pretty 😍 l love vintage prints! They seem dreamy and nostalgic, bringing back fragments of pleasant childhood memories.Yeah "l jumped off the wagon" with a big bottle of GLUE!!!!🤣🤭😂
Love your video. You explain things very well. I've used the aluminum foil with my bedding too. Once made, it makes shaped easy and versatile. As always, thank you for adding your sense of humor and your little giggles!
Oh this is so pretty!! I am happy to see that the foil works so well- I think that’s the solution for my 1/24 scale bedspread, which will end up being 3”x2 1/2”!! I’m gathering materials now for my summer project room setting!!❤️
I think we all have moments when our bright idea turns out to be something we hate. I'm pleased you kept at it until you found a colour that made you (and the dolls) happy. A couple of rooms in my dollhouse had to be repainted a few times before I finally worked out what colours I wanted them to be. When you had to re-glue the bed I was like Oh no!!!! Not a glue relapse!!!! but you came back from the brink and got back on the glue wagon again. I'm so proud of you my friend! lol
Yes it is truly trial and error 😀! I just wanted to show the truth of the full process!!! Sometimes what you imagine doesn't translate smoothly into reality! Lololol 🤣 😂 😂
In nursing school we learned that "relapse is part of the disease" so I wasn't surprised to see you reach for that glue bottle 🤭 I really liked this bed when it was stained wood but I LOVE it painted! I was pleasantly surprised how naturally and realistically the fabric draped with the foil! 😍✨
I liked it painted too!! But I was amused with the lacey wood pieces and got carried away 😔! The next thing I knew the bed was orange😟So I had to work my way out🤭😅🤣! Yes the HEAVY DUTY foil is Great! My New favorite!!!💖😀
This turned out so pretty! I'll definitely be trying to foil method for my bedding! :-) The fabric for the pillow cases remind me of an antique hankie my grandma had. I still have it somewhere.
Thank You Joni!!!! I really like the foil, that heavy duty made all the difference! When you find it would be precious to use the handkerchief to make a bedspread or something to preserve the memory!
Just slap that glue on there, Little Gretchen! I like that foil method as it would be easier to change beds if you wanted as the glue and water process fits pretty much the one bed it was made for.
Thank you! 😊 Please do l really think it could be my new go to for my beds!!! Thank you for being here! Quick question, isn't your dollhouse 1/6 or Barbie scale?
@@littlegretchensworkshop7665, You're welcome! Thank you for asking about my Dollhouse. Yes, it is 1:6 Scale. I have so many plans for it I am going to need a bigger room, lol.
I love the color of the bed! And the bedding goes so well with it! And those pillowcases! I wish I had those irl! Lovely! It's a lucky couple who will have that bed. Don't you just love the foil method?
The bed looks lovely. 🥰 The "wrong" paint layer is just an added bit of history. ☺ We all struggle when establishing new habits. You're so right that slipping up doesn't have to be the end of the story. You cleaned up the mess and resolved to do better in the future, which is the right way to handle it. You can do this! You've been doing a great job with your glue therapy, and you can do this! 😊
Thank You Laura!!! Sparing glue, using a ruler and cutting on the line!? Whew 😅!!! I even been wearing my gloves! But I that rub buff has a hold on me!!!!😂🤣🤣😅
Miss Gretchen! Though you are traveling the road of glue recovery, I am afraid you are going to have to consider your rub-n-buff tendancies. Great video : )
Love your video. You explain things very well. I've used the aluminum foil with my bedding too. Once made, it makes shaping easy and versatile. As always, thank you for adding your sense of humor and your little giggles!
That lace skirt on your bed is so sweet! The perfect touch! I love the pillows you made. Mine never turn out as good as yours! Thank you for the video!
Thank you! I'm glad you like them. It just takes a little practice, give yourself some Grace. Find you some different fabric and try again each time you do it gets a little bit better it's like each iteration is an upgrade! But no matter what HAVE FUN ! YOUR Dolls will be happy and appreciate whatever you make for them!!💖💖💖😀
Wow, I've never seen this way of making a bedspread, it's brilliant. I'm going to give this a go will my house too. I'm like you, I eyeball everything. I'm more confident in my eyeballing skills than my measuring skills! You have a great sense of humor and are a joy to watch.
Thank You l appreciate your Kind Words ☺️💖! Yes l am definitely more confident "eyeballing" than measuring 🤭😂! The only time measuring really serves me is when l'm baking🤭😂! I appreciate you for being here!!
Definitely liked the second colour on the bed, the Aluminium foil is a great touch. The bed and bedding turned out amazing. Take care and thank you for sharing the journey 👏🙏❤️
You’ve done it again Little Gretchen’s Workshop! ❤ What an amazing bed display. love the way the foil allows you to create tiny little folds in the bed cover like it was an actual full sized bed… This is a brilliant technique & easy to do.. thank you for sharing your knowledge & brilliant ideas 🥰
Hi THERE!!👋 Yes I definitely think the foil worked really well!!! I like to try a lot of different things to see what gives me the result that I'm looking for! I hope it works well for you too! Thank you so much for watching and allowing me to share!
I used a variation on the aluminum foil idea on some curtains I was making recently. They were made of velvet, which one cannot use fabric stiffener or glue solutions on without ruining the nap. So I embedded aluminum tape and lined the curtains and then I could bend the folds in. I used the tape rather than foil because of the vertical position of curtains (didn't want it to slip). But, I imagine if you got the foil in their tight enough, that would still work also. It worked a treat and I even made a swag the same way. This may be my new go-to for fabric on which I do not wish to use stiffener of any kind.
Hello Gretchen, it's so pretty 😍 I love the colour of the bedframe, the bedspread fabric is beautiful too, whichever resident gets the bed they're going to be very happy, it looks so comfy and cosy. I'm looking forward to your next video, Best wishes from Yorkshire, England 🇬🇧 😊
Thanks so much! 😊 I do really like the way it turned out!! The colors came together nicely!!! I haven't felt who gets this one!?🤭 maybe the New DOLLS?🤭😀
Okay, I'm gonna trust your judgment on the foil😂 I've seen this technique before and have yet to try it. I really like how you can manipulate the bedding without coating it, so the fabric still looks completely soft and natural. Love how the bed turned out in the end. I know how it feels, mixing a color you don't like and having to repaint.🥰❤️
Thanks so much! 😊l have historically been a "water and glue GIRL" but has really shaken things up!!🤭☺️😅 Yes that paint had me on the ropes!! It took me 2 weeks to get back to it to finish! When things don't turn out the way l imagine it sends me back to the drawing board!🤭☺️😅🤣💖
