what a fun and brilliant transformation! love this guy! my fav thus far! im blown away at how cartoon accurate he is in bot mode. great job as always man
Great review, amazing looking figure! I see what you're saying about the paint in the alt mode, but it doesn't really both me much for his robot mode. I googled some G1 images to refresh my memory and from the cartoon he had those colors, but the design was definitely different. Great looking piece! I'm surprised you don't have a G1 Wheeljack (or showed it). I've been wanting one for years, but for $100 plus? Yeesh!!
ShartimusPrime the colors were there...but they were much less on the cartoon than on the actual toy or even the real life car. But you're right, they were there. I do have a G1 Wheeljack and i just forgot to bring it off my shelf to compare lol
This is one of my favorite figures of all time. The robot mode is a fantastic representation of his glorious g1 self (wheeljack of course being my favorite character), and the Lancia Startos is my favorite car of all time, meaning that the vehicle mode for me is just pure greatness. I should be ordering one by the end of the week, and I could not be more exited
Great review Paul; and man, just like you said, been waiting years for this one and it's such a pleasure to finally have a masterpiece version of the creator of the Dinobots, the Autobot mad scientist: Wheeljack!
I have the KO and even the KO is fantastic. Tabs together wonderfully and it rolls well and the robot mode is well balanced. One of my favor masterpiece molds.
Just got mine in the mail, and I had come here before I touched it, and thankfully you just published this video. Your videos are invaluable for letting us know all the gotchas on these toys and more importantly they keep me from accidentally breaking them. Keep up the great work!
*****, I do not want you to be mad at me for saying this, but you should tell your inner fanboy to accept NOT getting a cartoon colored altmode. It is meant to look like the real thing, not the way he appeared in media. I mean, the silver stripe on MP-10 Prime was on the toy but not on the cartoon, but did people complain? I at least have not seen people complain about it. Plus, this is a toy. We don't have space age technology to make the chest sleeker like how it was on the character model. Also, do you plan to get Exhaust (the Malboor/Malboro repaint from Diaclone)?
Do you mean the silver stripes on his arms in robot mode? That was a bit unavoidable in some ways since in the G1 cartoon, he had silver stripes on his cab mode which became the arms and in order to stay accurate to the transformation from the show you would need to make a balance for the two
Hey optibotimus been watching the channel since i was 8 or 9 and im turning 15 in a few days but still an awesome channel no matter how old i get. Keep it up 😀
Great review. This is also what I imagined Wheeljack should have looked like when I got the G1 version back in the 80's. I look forward to picking one up myself.
I never bother reading the manuals with these great models. I just search for your videos and transform them with you. Thanks for another great video buddy. I love my new Wheeljack. He is soooooo great and what I wanted as a child. I have 4 masterpiece models now with Bumblebee on the way .... Next is Ironhide and Ratchet :)
Amazing review of this awesome figure. I like you love Wheel jack. I also grew up with the G1 cartoon and he was the very first figure i ever got. I definitely see what you mean about the color but I'll happily take this until someone fixes it in the future. Thank you for sharing this amazing figure.
Awesome review Opti... I preordered this back in January and after that review I can't wait (well actually I can, to save on shipping costs). It's better than I thought it would be, and I don't mind the colors. I like that they use accurate vehicle modes.
I'm amazed with the way the arms and torso sides are crammed into the back of the car. I also like how the lower legs are filled out with what could have otherwise been kibble. I hate his waist area, though. It sort of caves in because of the shape of the top of the pelvis, and the area directly under the windshield should be separate and uncolored.
Still waiting on mine to be dispatched, hope he'll be dispatched next week, he looks quite amazing. For me the Transformer I always loved the most was G1 Smokescreen. Getting his Masterpiece version was a no-brainer for me, ended up buying two. Fairly love how much the Masterpiece line has improved since MP10, the cars in particular have been very impressive.
After watching your video reviews of Transformers I've gotten back into collecting again. Next on my list is Wheeljack and I really have my sights set on the Hasbro Masterpiece Soundwave. Thanks for the videos! Keep up the amazing work!
Awesome, I got mine during the week too and he's great. Gotta admit, bits of the transformation I thought were tricky compared to say Prowl and Sideswipe. Lol been waiting for your review to do the reverse transformation haha
Great review, as always! And I really dig how happy wheeljack makes you, which hey, that's what toys are for. I can tell you that hasbro will definitely release this, most likely next year.
I'm disappointed that Takara didn't give Wheeljack more props of his iconic inventions like the Immobilizer, or the remote control he used to control Devastator in the episode "The Core".
Holy cr@p! MP Wheeljack!! Like you, one of my absolute favorite characters from childhood. So great to see him in full MP glory. I wish I could get him right now, but it'll be a while I'm afraid. As usual, great video and glad you like it!
I can respect your issue with the paint not being entirely show accurate. I also would have liked it more if it looked like the cartoon but the way it is now it looks more like the actual vehicle, something wich I do really like too. The Stratos is a great looking car and this figure does it justice. Really a Masterpiece of a figure IMO
Great review! As a toy fan more than a cartoon fan (and as someone who finds the Stratos to be one of the all-time most beautiful automotive designs), I love the accurate representation of the original Alitalia racer. I can see why others might want a more cartoon-accurate look, but for me this figure is just about perfect.
I can't lie I feel old as hell seein this vid ten years later, but it's nostalgic and I love it, how is the availability of this model? The lancia Stratos will always hold a soft spot in my heart because of its history in rally and also because of wheeljack, I think my girl and I would love little nerdy stuff like this to adorn our apartment
*Falls off chair in surprise* How can someone NOT know who Wheeljack is?! O_o He had the first character spoken line in the entire G1 series: "There's not enough energy in these conductors to last a quartex" Seriously though, very comprehensive review here. Explanation on point for the transformation sequence for those who don't speak or read Japanese. Wheeljack is, as always, a handsome bot in both modes.
***** Oh i agree. I just would have preferred the cartoon look more. It's what i grew up with and it's what i think about when i think of the characters
I think the reason they strayed from the cartoon coloring and design for the vehicle mode decals is just to be more accurate to the specific Lancia Stratos Turbo racecar Wheeljack's vehicle mode was based on. Also, the bigger windshield in robot mode is just because they were making the windshield correctly proportioned to the rest of his vehicle mode.
Hey paul, That background u used works really nice it showed for example the wing color of wheeljack really good. Could u use those backgrounds more often?? Greetings from Holland.
Hey Optibotimus, and anyone else who has MP-20. What are your thoughts about the white on Wheeljack? I'm still waiting for mine to arrive, but from all of the reviews and photos, it looks like Takara has left the plastic unpainted. With Prowl, one of the things that in my opinion make him stand out and give him some real class was the white paint applications. Do you have any thoughts on this?
swalstar Well with Prowl, the white paint is more glossy like the car. I don't think the actual Stratos was all that glossy of a paint, which might be why they didn't paint the toy. I'm not sure honestly. But it's not something i didn't even think of until you mentioned it.
Optibotimus most smart phones have a translation app or get it at the app store. It's a rough translation but you get the the jist of what is being said
Awesome, awesome, awesome review! I am personally hoping for a Hasbro version too, but I may bite before that gets announced (what with New York Comic Con coming and all).
Great review Paul and I understand why you would complain about the price but it is not that accurate. I totally agree. And personally I would love a masterpiece devastator. It would probably be veeeeery expensive but it would also be a nice addition to everyones collection.
Question please ! How Takara select the release of TransFormers MP, why only Prow, Wheeljack, Bluestreak, Smokescree, Sideswipe and Redalert ??? And why not Tracks, Grapple, Inferno, Hoist, and all the others ? Thanks at all ;-)

It might not be to the extent of green-scream but still a similar situation But with that said, I will definitely pick this up regardless as this figure looks awesome.
Would have been cool if under the face-plate, they had an Einstein like face. Homaging the dark of the moon Que or Wheeljack (an old and new kind of thing) and also because wheeljack is like the Einstein of the autobots
Concerning his missiles, there is a notch that secures the missile in place. You must make it fit properly first else it might get stucked permanently (happened to me)
I have confirmed information that MP-20 Whheljack is being released in Toys R Us here in Australia. Weather it's in the Takara Tomy box or the Hasbro Master Piece box is yet to be seen.
now we just need a cartoon accurate colors and paintjob but it WILL hurt the vehicle mode, but i will wait to see if they do it there is only one thing that i would have loved, and thats the wheels on his shoulders, or a way to do it(or fake wheels like redalert), but the way he transforms, it is just impossible, the reason, while not g1 cartoon accurate, is that it has been another detail carried over comics, official art, design artworks, incarnations, thats why i still feel the figure while almost perfect, (aside the coloring of course) it isnt, that is something that i always loved on well, wheeljack, even if the cartoon version didnt have it
I love that he's a Lancia. They are incredible race cars. BTW the Lancia Stratos Turbo was not the rally car but a sillhouette race car built for Group 5 but it was loosely based on the rally Stratos. As if the 'regular Stratos' wasn't rare enough, the Turbo... get this--- Lancia built only two ever (prototypes). The other one was sponsored by Marlboro and burned to the ground. So maybe not the best disguise, a one-off race car with bright contrasting Italian airlines sponsorship LOL.
Great review, understandable about some of the things about it. but this is my personal take about it: - Understandable about the red and green line been to much on the roof part which is noticible for both vehicle and the robot mode(specially the robot mode). However thats how the roof of the Lancia Stratos 539 Turbo looks without the sticker number code on its roof which is place on when racing so that TV hosts and the Spectators can see it clearly in case that the numbers on the doors gets scratch off . Sure they could have made the roof of the vehicle look more like the G1 cartoon, but then again wheeljack had toons of lazy animation in the detail department. There times that the roof detail is completely red with a little white square or it has the big white square with red but in the shape of the radiation symbol. Besides since Wheeljack is base on the Lancia Stratos 539 Turbo then might as well make it look as the real deal. - I see where you're getting about the windshield been a bit to big for robot mode. However i don't really see how Takara would get away with reducing its size, i mean Wheeljack in the G1 cartoon thanx to the magic animation he has it much more smaller than the actual real car itself. Also the design on Wheeljacks chest size in the cartoon changes from time to time so i prefer the this one over the cartoon. heck even the G1 toy his chest was way bigger than this masterpiece so this one looks way better and well proportionate all things considered. - I agree with you about the black colors on the forearms, waist, the upper part of the legs and as well the head, it should have been like a darker Grey instead. But i guess Takara wanted to go more of a homage to the original toy perhaps since it had black colors as well in those parts. Also is possible since wheeljack's head was also Grey they didn't wanted to have the silver paint mix with the grey plastic which would loose that eye catching detail. - The view mirros that you are able to pull it off instead been on already had me confuse until i understood it. The idea behind it is more of an option, you can have it on and make it look like the real car or have them off and make it look like the G1 toy which it did not have the view mirrors as well the cartoon version. So is more of a preference than anything else, which is quite nice for options. But other than that, great review. Wheeljack looks really awesome and i cannot wait to get the guy in my hands. If it ever comes here to the US, i don't know if Hasbro will make it look more cartoon accurate. i mean, they did a terrible job with MP Sunstorm which looks like Ronald Mc Donalds (never understood that drastic change) so im a bit concern about wheeljack and i would prefer they leave its details like Takara just in case.
When you said you displayed only takara mp figures what about mp 10 hasbro version I remember in your review of it you prefer hasbro because it was more bright and g1 accurate than takaras mp 10 having much darker reds and blues and how I call it "dead prime" which refers to the tf movie when prime dies and loses his color yadayadayada
LOOK ! michael bay ...THIS is WHEELJACK !!
Lego Forestman TRUE
Also I know that you commented this 6 years ago
@@Newuser46636 lol
The original design in the bayverse comics was actually really faithful but they changed it in the movies because he almost died
LOOK ! Steven Caple Jr ...THIS is WHEELJACK !!
what a fun and brilliant transformation! love this guy! my fav thus far! im blown away at how cartoon accurate he is in bot mode. great job as always man
Paul, I'm Italian. If you don't plan to keep that version, I would gladly take it off your hands for you.
Great review, amazing looking figure! I see what you're saying about the paint in the alt mode, but it doesn't really both me much for his robot mode. indeed

Great review. This is also what I imagined Wheeljack should have looked like when I got the G1 version back in the 80's. I look forward to picking one up myself.
gettin this guy for Christmas tonight! Cant wait to do my review/unboxing!

wheeljack was my favorite autobot, he was a mad scientist/borderline villain.
I cannot wait to get mine! Fantastic looking figure, truly.

Years later and I’m still referring to these videos on how to fold these things back to put in the box!!
Thank you very much!!! 🙏🏻 I was going crazy getting him back into autobot mode! 😆💫
Great review, I can tell the love you have for wheeljack. Awesome review!!
I saw many reviews of this toy, and I like it more and more, this is probably one of the most solid masterpiece ever.
Actually I just put my order in on bbts for one after watching ur review
silverdc5 Hope you used the link in the description then :P
wheeljack was one of my favorite

Wow what a amazing figure, I'm upset I had to cancel preorder from bbts but hopefully in a fortnight his still there to purchase. Nice review
6:49 i saw the gimmick in this toy at the downside there is a gun but it was an exhaust pipe at the back of the car.
Awesome, I got mine during the week too and he's great. Gotta admit, bits of the transformation I thought were tricky compared to say Prowl and Sideswipe. Lol been waiting for your review to do the reverse transformation haha

Chosenhorse2 I have zero doubt that a 3rd party company will add some of those pieces
***** Looks like he could fit a Matrix in his chest.
Immobilizer comes with Exhaust
that i agree, they should've at least give 2 or more accessories
Holy cr@p! MP Wheeljack!! Like you, one of my absolute favorite characters from childhood. So great to see him in full MP glory. I wish I could get him right now, but it'll be a while I'm afraid.

Do a review or ultra magnus as soon as it's out! I'm so pumped for ultra magnus!
I glued the mirrors in and I had no issues with the glue leaking out of the top
I am so happy and satisfied because I got this toy. My God! They did a piece art with that masterpiece. Waiting for Bumblebbe now ;D
Good review. The chest colors do not look bad in person but I would gladly buy a Hasbro version if it comes in toon accurate colors
***** Oh i agree. I just would have preferred the cartoon look more. It's what i grew up with and it's what i think about when i think of the characters
I wish they've made him more paint-accurate with the G1 cartoon. The mould is awesome!
The transformation process is giving me nightmare flashbacks to my Binaltech Hound which was impossibly hard to transform.
Hey paul,
That background u used works really nice it showed for example the wing color of wheeljack really good.
Could u use those backgrounds more often??
Greetings from Holland.
my favorite autobots characters is prowl, trailbreaker, cliffjumper, sideswipe, and jazz
I love the way they all transform like how they do in the cartoon that's genius to me
Hey Optibotimus, and anyone else who has MP-20. What are your thoughts about the white on Wheeljack? Cheers for the reply, how does he look next to prowl?
I like it. The figure kooks more like the G1 animated Wheeljack once he's transformed. No gorilla arms like the G1 toy.
Optibotimus most smart phones have a translation app or get it at the app store. It's a rough translation but you get the the jist of what is being said
Great review as always. Did you cry when you saw Wheeljack's corpse in the 1986 movie?
Awesome, awesome, awesome review! I am personally hoping for a Hasbro version too, but I may bite before that gets announced (what with New York Comic Con coming and all).
Great Review as always!WheelJack is my Favorite AutoBot,So i really enjoyed this video!!!
Great review Paul and I understand why you would complain about the price but it is not that accurate. I totally agree. And personally I would love a masterpiece devastator. It would probably be veeeeery expensive but it would also be a nice addition to everyones collection.
cant wait for bumblebee!
I just got one today and funny is thatt it comes witth two instructions sheet :D
Question please !
How Takara select the release of TransFormers MP, why only Prow, Wheeljack, Bluestreak, Smokescree, Sideswipe and Redalert ???
And why not Tracks, Grapple, Inferno, Hoist, and all the others ?
Thanks at all ;-)
You know what this toy reminds me of. This is like the first Masterpiece Starscream. More focus on Vehicle mode accuracy over g1-cartoon accuracy. It might not be to the extent of green-scream but still a similar situation
But with that said, I will definitely pick this up regardless as this figure looks awesome.
I love wheeljack!
When do you reckon they'll do Masterpiece Jazz? He'd be a excellent addition to any Autobot collection
I'm kinda bummed that this guy is not very show accurate because he is my favorite character but I am still going to buy this
The only thing missing on this figure is a button to make his "ears" light up like they did in the cartoon when he talks.
Now this is how Optibotimus's dreams look like.
Really love this guy! He was my favorite G1 character.
Looks like there's a typo in the title, fyi.
I thought the bio was on the description tag when you buy it at BBTS?
U can take off the battle mask by unscrewing the head and taking it out, u can get the wheel jack secret head reveal
Would have been cool if under the face-plate, they had an Einstein like face. Homaging the dark of the moon Que or Wheeljack (an old and new kind of thing) and also because wheeljack is like the Einstein of the autobots
Incredible figure! my fav Autobot too! Awesome review! Now they just need to make Mirage and Hound and they'll have made my Top 3 all tim,e Autobots
Awesome video, Wheeljack is also my favorite character.
if you notice, at the mp-20 coins spell wrong 'weeljack'
I noticed that on Felzbug's review.
It's pretty funny that Wheeljack's name is spelled Weeljack on the collector coin card
Would love to give you more, this could be a start though
Wheeljack figure is sweet! Lookin forward to Bumblebee & especially Ultra Magnus!!!
Kinda surprised you don't have a review of Masterpeice Bumblebee yet.
It's still in transit to him.
20:15 Wheeljack: "IT'S INDEPENDENCE DAY!"

Great review
i hope takara tomy will release Wheeljack as a MP-20+ Wheeljack Masterpiece Plus in G1 Colors
Great review as always. Btw, try looking for the official franchised ecal by "Ocean". The added details on this already awesome fig is so Amazing!
Concerning his missiles, there is a notch that secures the missile in place. You must make it fit properly first else it might get stucked permanently (happened to me)
oh, ok thankyou optibotimus
Moment of quietness my grandpa died a veteran god bless him
I have confirmed information that MP-20 Whheljack is being released in Toys R Us here in Australia. Weather it's in the Takara Tomy box or the Hasbro Master Piece box is yet to be seen.
Lucky
Proof?
Mega Lucario
I have seen Wheeljack in Toys R Us, in the Takara Tomy box from the review for $99.99
Tfw2005
What about the Thundercracker repaint of MP-11? Did you sell that in favor of the MP-07 or did you mean Hasbro releases of Takara figures?
OptimusPhillip Well the hasbro version of Thundercracker is the only version of the mp-11 mold that we got for that character lol
Okay. I was just a little confused since you said you sold your Hasbro release MPs. Thanks for the clarification
So, I'm guessing you're a huge fan of Wheeljack, aren't you Optibotimus? I'm also a huge fan!
Wondering what you thought of Wheeljack as he was portrayed in Prime... he wasn't exactly an engineer like he was in G1 :P
Yes!!!???
He's probably the best car to come out so far.
now we just need a cartoon accurate colors and paintjob but it WILL hurt the vehicle mode, but i will wait to see if they do it
there is only one thing that i would have loved, and thats the wheels on his shoulders, or a way to do it(or fake wheels like redalert), but the way he transforms, it is just impossible, the reason, while not g1 cartoon accurate, is that it has been another detail carried over comics, official art, design artworks, incarnations, thats why i still feel the figure while almost perfect, (aside the coloring of course) it isnt, that is something that i always loved on well, wheeljack, even if the cartoon version didnt have it
Oooh, season one...
So maybe not the best disguise, a one-off race car with bright contrasting Italian airlines sponsorship LOL.
i hope that the robot we saw in transformers 3 called QUE isn't wheeljack because it doesn't look like wheeljack to me
Optibotimus you forgot the back wings transformation! But like always cool review.
Don't be stupid
Great review, understandable about some of the things about it. but this is my personal take about it:
- Understandable about the red and green line been to much on the roof part which is noticible for both vehicle and the robot mode(specially the robot mode).
Op, have you had any problems with the wings? Mine was brittle enough to snap off during transformation.
what number would MP Wheeljack be if you had top ten toys list of 2014?
I got two of them for $97,95 each, then 10% Off.
One for me, and one for my best mate.
im getting him and sideswipe for Christmas i can't wait for it they going to be right by ratchet
they need to make a masterpiece jazz
When you said you displayed only takara mp figures what about mp 10 hasbro version I remember in your review of it you prefer hasbro because it was more bright and g1 accurate than takaras mp 10 having much darker reds and blues and how I call it "dead prime" which refers to the tf movie when prime dies and loses his color yadayadayada
Are you going to swap him to the + version? Imo he looks slightly better in new 'anime version' colors in robot mode
Yup...absolutally. Super excited about getting the Wheeljack i remember as a kid :)
optibotimus :) he looks very, very cartoon accurate
