Don't replace your G1 Magnus! You can fix that! Do a google search for "retrobright" and you'll find how to take the yellowing away. It's a bit of a process, but works wonders. I recommend using the 40 vol creme developer from Sally's Beauty Supply, and a uv lamp rather than daylight, as it's pre mixed and makes things a lot easier.
Hey, just so you know, to keep your rubber tires from splitting, try to carefully take them off, and soak them or coat them in Armor-all. It will help preserve the rubber. It will keep the rubber pliant. It happens because the rubber dries out in really dry environments.
That's not good to see the cracked rubber tires on MP10 - does that happen often? I still have the MP04 Optimus and none of his tires have cracked or split. Maybe it is the different climate or something? Ultra Mags is looking great though! Brilliant engineering going on with him, I usually skip through the transformations in reviews so I can have the fun of working them out myself when I get them but it will be a good while until I can afford Mags so I watched you do it. Excellent review as always. :-)
You can preserve the rubber tires by applying a small amount of Armor All car wash cleaner (with water), then applying Armor All Protectant (perhaps using a small brush).
those cracked tires are crazy, i've never seen anything like it before. i still have my beat up alternator skids, and some binaltechs and over the years they are still pretty much in the same condition.
Well done as always, Paul Denton-I mean, Optibotimus. I'll keep doing that in some of your reviews. Seeing this Ultra Magnus makes me think that having him is slightly better than wanting RID's Magnus from the early 2000's. Too bad that he doesn't combine with Prime though.
You know, as a person who likes semi-trucks, I think the yellowing on your G1 Ultra Magnus is actually a nice shade. Real trucks would have that color, so keep it for display purposes with a G1 Optimus, maybe.
that and it builds character for that specific toy. it always annoys me when people complain about it and just throws the toy away or something. to me it gives the toy a character of it's own, different from all others. as it's Your toy.
Eh, I guess, but as a collector it can be an eyesore when Ultra Magnus is meant to be completely white. That's why I say retire it as Ultra Magnus, and make it a background piece for a display.
i think we need more cons its just 3 sure there are more seekers but as real molds just 3 starscream megatron and soundwave but as new i want trypticon scourge cyclonus blitzwing shockwave the combiners insecticons sixshot astrotrain mega octaine unicron
Hello Optibptomus, sorry to bother you, since I'm going to buy MP-22 Ultra Magnus, I wanted to know if the joint that moves the leg outwards was ruined over time.
Haha nice Jon 3.0 cameo at the start! I love this figure, he's wicked. Nice heft to him as well. I do hope we get an MP Galvatron in the future to go with this guy...... more Headcase! lol
Hey the extra set of hands are used for the larger matrix that comes with Mp09 the one that opens up and not mp10s matrix.. sadly they should have included both matrix's but didn't :)
you should get a humidifier for your display room. put it on a low setting and that will keep your rubber from cracking. I always had a humidifier for my allergies and I never had my rubber tires crack but my next door neighbor is a collector like me and he had trouble like you. I told him and he got one and he has no more cracked rubber. get a cool mist humidifier. there is a warm mist one as well and that will fog up your figures and make everything dew up. cool mist humidifiers on low won't have that issue.
No the humidifier puts moisture in the air. I live in Michigan and it isn't dry here. My house and my friends house has a humidifier on the furnace but my friends rubber on his figures or even orings on his sinks would crack on him in a few years, just like your wheels. Every since I was in high school I've had allergies and I have to have a humidifier in every room. I never had rubber crack. My friends house next door did have your problem and he is seeing if the humidifier will work. Now you said high humidity, you probably think I said dehumidifier. That would dry the air, causing rubber to crack. I was just saying that I never had a problem and I have a cool mist humidifier and I've had one since as longs I remember. It might help. The moisture from the humidifier would keep the rubber from dry cracking. Another thought would be tire shine that is made for cars. Every time you dust, you could apply the shine stuff. That stuff saves my tires from cracking on my truck and those tires are 10 years old. I don't drive much cause I mostly drive a semi to and from for work. Just a thought though. :)
+optibotimus david has an excellent point, one of my collector friends has on in his display room, none of his rubber is cracked, i didnt use one and i had cracking, been using one ever since.
Another great review! I love this figure. I'm sorry about your cracked wheels on your MP 10 :( I got really worried after you said that and looked at my MP 1 Optimus. No cracks on any of the wheels. It must be the weather of where you live but I did look at my trailer for my MP 9 Rodimus which I store in the garage and it can get pretty harsh in there and I'm happy to say its wheels are also perfect with no cracks. I can tell you I do use "Armor All" on all my toys and models with rubber wheels and that not only helps protect the rubber, it gives it a nice shine. Try some "Armor All" with a Q-Tip or other cotton swab to apply it and those tires on your Ultra Magnus and that rubber should not crack. For your MP 10 you can find some black silicon sealant in the auto parts store or Home Depot and with a tooth pick you can fill in those cracks. Hope that helps and keep up the great reviews!
paul your copy is mistransformed the head when going back into the traditional car carrier mode the head can rotate 180 degrees and it shifts backwards
Here's an idea for a supplementary figure: MP-10M Magnus. MP-10 Convoy in a white and blue color scheme. Includes a white Convoy rifle, as a weapon made to look like his G1 toy's gun (as held by the cab robot), a blue Energon Axe, and an adapter allowing him to tow this trailer. Remolded to seat two.
The issue with the back tires hitting the hip skirt has been resolved as of February 23 when i got my Masterpiece. Ultra Magnus. No matter how much I tried to, I couldn't get the wheels to get stuck behind the hip skirt when turning the trailer. :D
Fantastic review dude! one of the best MP figures I've seen you review yet! Nicely done! One of these days this figure will be mine! oh yes! he will be mine! LOL! =D
Thanks for the review. Mine just cane in today from BBTS! What do you recommend we do to keep the rubber tires on MP 10 and MP 22 from drying and cracking? I heart skipped a beat when you showed us your MP 10. Thanks!
I would go so far as to say this is the perfect Transformer, the littl kibble on his back aside, a proper Transformer has no fake stuff (Except the wheels, but that's an animation difference, I can forgive that), all parts become something else, a true Transformer, wish I had enough for him, I hope we get a nice Generations one soon. Plus some more movie TFs?
Of course they are, there are some things that just can't happen in real life, thats why the movie TFs are crap. This guy just has a near faultless transformation to me, which I think is what Transformers are (Or should be) primarily about!
Orion Pax That's... not what I was saying. I was saying that OP (as in Original Poster, not Optimus Prime) claimed that "proper Transformers" don't have faux parts, and I reminded him of the fact that both MP-01 and MP-10, two Transformers widely considered some of the best figures ever made (as you probably know, and OP probably agrees with), have faux kibble, which would make them "not proper Transformers".
I love this mp-22. I have a question for OPTIBOTIMUS do you have duplicates of any transformers or characters? just wondering I myself have some issues with "duplicates" of the same item. example I have "4" of this mp-22. all still mint in box untouched, but probably opening one soon for fun and somehow I am thinking of a getting a 5th one. =T Let me know about your collecting style
Hey Optibotimus.. Great review as always.. Nice groupshot of all Autobots.. but how does Ultra Magnus scale to Unique Toys - Mania King - Messiah (the 3rd party Galvatron version) ?
Still looking for a review where theyd put MP magnus' helmet back on without any of his face. Just curious of how he'd look with a white prime face under the magnus helmet
The store here in Australia said that it will be $260, $110 more than MP 10 Optimus Prime. although MP 10 was released by Hasbro. So I am going to wait to see if Hasbro will release him.
I feel like the only reason it isnt a transformable mp10 with armor is the simple fact that it cost more. Its so much cheaper to incorporate a hollow cab into a hollow trailer to make a robot vs including a whole other figure that takara charges for banks on its own.
@15:10 I think yours might have a slight flaw. I only say this because mine dont "snap" no where near as loud as yours and it actually goes into place quite smoothly without any streess concerns. Not sure if its a QC problem or that maybe something is too tight.
Great review....I have my MP 22 Magnus on the way from BigBadToyStore..... I personally like this more than Citizen stack.... Love the anatomy of the robot mode.
I love your videos and this helped me seal the deal and buy it. I got it Jan. 2017 Here is my problem, @37:39 you click the gun in place and then click the white tabs of the "arms" in place after that... only on mine those arm tab things won't close properly, let alone stay closed. They don't line up correctly or something. On yours there is a satisfying click sound to it... but mine don't even push together very well, let alone stay.
Maybe the reason your MP-10 Optimus' tires cracked and people with the different Hasbro releases of the mold (like my YOTH Optimus, which I've had for 10 months) haven't is that they switched to a slightly different kind of rubber between the manufacturings of the original Takara MP-10 Optimus and the first Hasbro release (and no, it's not just that Hasbro "used a better rubber", there's no real difference in figure quality/QC between Hasbro and Takara releases of toys; in fact, Hasbro's and Takara's versions are made in the same factories, with the same materials).
Opti I just got mine and I noticed that at the front side of forearms I got some marks in both arms. It looks like something that was attached and removed - some lighter blue marks and I noticed you also have them on the right arm. I haven´t transformed mine ever so its impossible its something that happened in transformation. Its not super bad but I all have to paint the spots. Got it from BBTS
Now we got an entire Witwicky family with the comic bro Buster as the dude with MP10. Only lacking now is Sparkplug, maybe hes with the next Autobot release or has the hypno chip taken a second turn? ;)
Thank you for the review and transform at for words and backwards that really does help.most people they just transform it from vehicle to robot and that afterwards you don't know if you can go backwards without breaking it
I was afraid i might not like this but watching your review changed that. I like this figure. Love that the cab can separate and don't mind that it doesn't transform. Perhaps we may get a white MP 10 in the future. A Diaclone repaint of this might also be very interesting
Do you think we will be seeing a leader class lockdown anytime soon, I was thinking of picking up the age of extinction version of prime, but if u have any Intel I may hold out for that
Hey Paul, the rubber tires on Optimus, is that from just sitting around with no use? That's kind of upsetting for a figure that costs as much as it does. I plan on hunting down some MP's in March, MP-10 and after looking at this review, hopefully Ultra as well. The cracked tires just seem like an issue though.
I have the Hasbro version of MP-10. I've had it for about a month and the tires have showed no signs of cracking. It's available on BBTS and I highly recommend it for you to have.
***** I'll second that. Have the Hasbro MP-10 as well from the TRU release purchased in-store (back in 2012) and have had no cracking in the rubber tires either.
***** I bought it on October 12th, 2012. I remember because it was the at the grand opening sale of a new TRU in my area, and I got him for about $75.00 on sale. Talk about a deal.
I have MP 1 Convoy/ Optimus Prime and I have no cracking on it or any of the rubber on any of my toys or models. I use Armor All and have never had an issue. I got my MP 1 when it first came out and it has been proudly standing on my shelf.
Do you have the studio series 86 Ultra Magnus too, if not, maybe you wanna think about getting him too, he's really cool too, the way I see him, he is like the masterpiece you're showing here, but a little shorter if I'm correct, his transformation is a little different. The studio series 86 is worth having too, he's really cool to have just good as the masterpiece. I think that you'll enjoy him as much as I do. I wasn't able to get the masterpiece because of the price all sellers were asking for.
"People have complained about his buttflap. I do wanna touch on that a little bit. " -Optibotimus Also, have you had any issues with sprue marks on it? Most reviews I've seen he has white marks on the front of his forearms, and some he has them on the red under his face, fuel tanks, and the gun.
Open!!! DAMIT OPEN!!! Prime you said the Matrix would lite are darkest hour! Awesome review Sir! Thanks to you I'll be picking this up. Yes there are some minor flaws and the stress marks really bother me but despite all that Magnus is an awesome figure. Thanks for the review.
Keen as for this figure, mine will be here in about a week, always love your reviews but as someone else said this time around you seemed a little harsh on the critique lol, but having not had mine in hand you would obviously know better. Anyway thanks again for all your review work has helped me alot. Cheers
I hope the next Masterpiece Takara release is Blurr! I know the transformation would be relatively simple but he's an underrated character in my opinion.
"That thing made by a fried chicken company..."
That cracked me up
KFC?
C’est Los pollo Hermanos. Ci
I know that takara was focusing on the character aspect, which I'm happy with, but I wish the cab could fully transform
The kingdom magnus can do that
True but kingdom has no matrix chamber
If we got a fully transforming cab, it would be the kingdom core Magnus type shit. The cab would be trash.
Fanstoys is coming out with a Masterpiece Ultra Magnus that will have the white Optimus Prime inside.
Don't replace your G1 Magnus! You can fix that! Do a google search for "retrobright" and you'll find how to take the yellowing away. It's a bit of a process, but works wonders. note to takara tomy: Galvatron for Masterpiece!!!
Then you can recreate the epic classic fights from the Marvel comics. :-D
and i can make tf legends chaos battle
And if they make a Galvatron, they should make a Megatron to go with it.
@@jacobstrangman3625 there's already 2 Megatron MP. We need Galvatron.
We need a Cyclonus and Galvatron to go with HotRod and Magnus...nice MP Magnus for sure!
I want this so bad but I don't have room. I need to buy some shelves.
And Hot Rod MP was horrible. Some 3rd party needs to make. Did you see X-transbot Megatron MP?
Orion Pax I want this bad as well...I'm probably going to get this guy soon!
Orion Pax I use to hate the HotRod, but as times gone by I've actually grown to like him more...still hate the hands!
Brad Koski his face also sucks.
Was that the screen junkies guy
The Review Dudes yup
That's not good to see the cracked rubber tires on MP10 - does that happen often?
I still have the MP04 Optimus and none of his tires have cracked or split. Maybe it is the different climate or something?
Ultra Mags is looking great though! Brilliant engineering going on with him, I usually skip through the transformations in reviews so I can have the fun of working them out myself when I get them but it will be a good while until I can afford Mags so I watched you do it.
Excellent review as always. :-)
I've had my MP-10 for at least 4 years by now and the tires are completely fine
You can preserve the rubber tires by applying a small amount of Armor All car wash cleaner (with water), then applying Armor All Protectant (perhaps using a small brush).

We need Springer. Who agrees? List down some Decepticons and Autobots that you think should be in the masterpiece line.
i think we need more cons its just 3 sure there are more seekers but as real molds just 3 starscream megatron and soundwave but as new i want trypticon scourge cyclonus blitzwing shockwave the combiners insecticons sixshot astrotrain

Hello Optibptomus, sorry to bother you, since I'm going to buy MP-22 Ultra Magnus, I wanted to know if the joint that moves the leg outwards was ruined over time.
Loved the "I'm watching a video review from Optibotimus!" animated segment before the intro! Great idea to include that!
so it means ultra magnus doing all the work and the guys sit back and enjoy the ride
Haha nice Jon 3.0 cameo at the start!
I love this figure, he's wicked. Nice heft to him as well. I do hope we get an MP Galvatron in the future to go with this guy...... more Headcase! lol
Optibotimus: This whole assembly, or Section.
It's about damn time this came out I've been waiting seven years
The very squeaky joints.
Hey the extra set of hands are used for the larger matrix that comes with Mp09 the one that opens up and not mp10s matrix.. sadly they should have included both matrix's but didn't :)
This just sold me on the figure. Getting the reissue in February along with Hot Rod!
Waiting for my sipping confirmation!!! Can't wait to get this beast!
you should get a humidifier for your display room. put it on a low setting and that will keep your rubber from cracking.
+David Morawsky You're assuming i live in a place with high humidity...i don't
I'm sorry about your cracked wheels on your MP 10 :(
I got really worried after you said that and looked at my MP 1 Optimus.
The guy from honest trailer!? Nice touch, Paul!
paul your copy is mistransformed the head when going back into the traditional car carrier mode the head can rotate 180 degrees and it shifts backwards
I totally agree about the rubber tires,
Here's an idea for a supplementary figure: MP-10M Magnus. MP-10 Convoy in a white and blue color scheme. Includes a white Convoy rifle, as a weapon made to look like his G1 toy's gun (as held by the cab robot), a blue Energon Axe, and an adapter allowing him to tow this trailer. Remolded to seat two.
EXCELLENT! I'm getting mine at the end of next month due to extreme demand and shortages!
The issue with the back tires hitting the hip skirt has been resolved as of February 23 when i got my Masterpiece. Ultra Magnus. No matter how much I tried to, I couldn't get the wheels to get stuck behind the hip skirt when turning the trailer. :D
Thanks for the great review! Can't wait till mine comes!
That's actually very nice that it's knees bend that far forward because it has no forward ankle tilt.
This thing is total madness.
Fantastic review dude! one of the best MP figures I've seen you review yet! Nicely done! One of these days this figure will be mine! oh yes! he will be mine! LOL! =D
FIRST!! :p
***** your*
***** *dying optimus prime moans*: ultra magnas it is to you old friend i shall pass the matrix of leadership as it was passed to me
71st!!!!!!
Daniel needs to cut back on the Krispy Kremes, they are going straight to his thighs.
( Reading in news) due to the absence of ultra magnus autobot city was destroyed and crumbled to pieces
Can you deal with deciding on keeping him or Citizen Stack, Paul?
Martin Serrano I can't deal with that right now :P
citizen stack looks horrible. This is the perfect Magnus
Can't wait for my Magnus to get here, just yesterday I got Bumblebee and he's awesome.
Thanks for the review. Mine just cane in today from BBTS!
What do you recommend we do to keep the rubber tires on MP 10 and MP 22 from drying and cracking? I heart skipped a beat when you showed us your MP 10.
Thanks!
The only G1 toy that I have is Ultra Magnus' cab section, which wi only found out was Ultra Magnus a few months ago.
So neither MP-01 or MP-10 are proper Transformers?
Of course they are, there are some things that just can't happen in real life, thats why the movie TFs are crap. This guy just has a near faultless transformation to me, which I think is what Transformers are (Or should be) primarily about!
Jeddostotle7 Mp10 is proper scale..cause Mp1 was huge...so they had to re scale starting from Mp10. Or else MP toys would cost even more money
Jeddostotle7 What were the fake kibble in MP-01 and 10?
I love this mp-22.
I have a question for OPTIBOTIMUS
do you have duplicates of any transformers or characters? just wondering
I myself have some issues with "duplicates" of the same item.
example I have "4" of this mp-22. all still mint in box untouched, but probably opening one soon for fun
and somehow I am thinking of a getting a 5th one. =T
Let me know about your collecting style
I'd love to see an mp galvatron. And he could come with the matrix on a chain. That would be amazing.
Optibotimus: you gonna split the entire assembly.
Hehe apparently your video review was the reason Ultra Magnus couldn't deal with the situation XD.
Great looking figure but I hope they start making some more MP decepticons that aren't seeker re-paints.
Love the intro optibotimus!
You should make a temporary diorama where the autobots are transforming on ultra magnus, would look totally cool!
The store here in Australia said that it will be $260, $110 more than MP 10 Optimus Prime. although MP 10 was released by Hasbro. So I am going to wait to see if Hasbro will release him.
Absolutely with you about rubber tyres. Great review sir
@optibotimus may i ask for the title of transformers song in the intro of your video?
Was that jon3.0 (or whatever his name is) as Magnus?
hi @optibotimus. just want to check if you know of any replacement rubber tires for MP10 from any company?
I feel like the only reason it isnt a transformable mp10 with armor is the simple fact that it cost more. Its so much cheaper to incorporate a hollow cab into a hollow trailer to make a robot vs including a whole other figure that takara charges for banks on its own.
Who's Magnus voice was that in the beginning?
ok
@15:10 I think yours might have a slight flaw. I only say this because mine dont "snap" no where near as loud as yours and it actually goes into place quite smoothly without any streess concerns. Not sure if its a QC problem or that maybe something is too tight.
Great review....I have my MP 22 Magnus on the way from BigBadToyStore..... I personally like this more than Citizen stack.... Love the anatomy of the robot mode.
That clip at the beginningXD 'Autobot city my arse!!! I know my fucking priorities!!!'
The cut marks on the lower arm have, also, been resolved as of February 23 because mine doesn't have thise cut marks anywhere.
I love your videos and this helped me seal the deal and buy it. I got it Jan. 2017
Here is my problem, @37:39 you click the gun in place and then click the white tabs of the "arms" in place after that... only on mine those arm tab things won't close properly, let alone stay closed.
Great review my friend! Makes me sad I had to cancel mine...maybe one day I'll pick him up.

I haven´t transformed mine ever so its impossible its something that happened in transformation. Its not super bad but I all have to paint the spots. Got it from BBTS
that intro was amazing
Do you live across the street from BBTS?! mines not due in until the 6th XD
🤔...I'm not sure which is the best...this one or the Studio Series...❓️❓️❓️
Now we got an entire Witwicky family with the comic bro Buster as the dude with MP10. Only lacking now is Sparkplug, maybe hes with the next Autobot release or has the hypno chip taken a second turn? ;)
Looks awesome thanks for showing.
optibotimus do you lnow where i can buy the 1986 movie on dvd
They should make an ultra magnas ke the bay film

The MP-10 KO is getting a white repaint this month. And the MP-10KO V2 is of superior quality to the hasbro/takara version. He's $110 on tf direct
your videos are amazing optibotimus
Do you think we will be seeing a leader class lockdown anytime soon, I was thinking of picking up the age of extinction version of prime, but if u have any Intel I may hold out for that
Optibotimus, what were the design flaws you discovered that you mentioned on twitter? was it that flap that shows stress marks when you snap it in?
Yeah that was what i was talking about
***** what do you think of the play factor? do you think it's just a brick or do you have fun posing and playing with him?
Awesome, you got John Bailey for your review. Well I shouldn't be surprised, you're only one of the biggest toy reviewers ever.

I'll second that. Have the Hasbro MP-10 as well from the TRU release purchased in-store (back in 2012) and have had no cracking in the rubber tires either.
tekcomputers How long have you had it? I want to know so as I know whether or not I have to worry about cracking any time soon.
*****
I bought it on October 12th, 2012.
I got my MP 1 when it first came out and it has been proudly standing on my shelf.
great review but what was wrong with the citizen stack. i ordered one cause could not afford the mp-22
what we need in 2017 is masterpiece springer, kup, rc, blitz wing, galvatron, and cyclonus
I've been waiting for MP Galvatron for years, however we are long overdue for MP Triple Changers.
now u can recreate all those scenes in season 3 were ultra magnus stood with his mouth open in the back round
kind of looks like a body of optimism peime and replace whit a different head was it?
the intro is awsome
How long does it take to do those amazing animated intro
Really love this figure
Great review man , really good so glad I ordered mine I agree this one is the best
Great review, Paul. Have you seen my review of Masterpiece Magnus yet?
Do you have the studio series 86 Ultra Magnus too, if not, maybe you wanna think about getting him too, he's really cool too, the way I see him, he is like the masterpiece you're showing here, but a little shorter if I'm correct, his transformation is a little different. The studio series 86 is worth having too, he's really cool to have just good as the masterpiece. I think that you'll enjoy him as much as I do. I wasn't able to get the masterpiece because of the price all sellers were asking for.
The review is up on my channel
I love your videos,
I never buy anything before seeing your review
Can you put Prime's trailer on the Ultramagnus CAB?
Hey, not to be strange, but were you on Wait Wait Don't Tell Me "Bluff the Listener" recently????
SophiaTexy I have no idea what that is, sorry
Awesome video optibotimus
optibotimus let me ask you something where is your mp10 hasbro version
Great review!
Didn't you already review this?
"People have complained about his buttflap. I do wanna touch on that a little bit. "
-Optibotimus
Also, have you had any issues with sprue marks on it? Most reviews I've seen he has white marks on the front of his forearms, and some he has them on the red under his face, fuel tanks, and the gun.
Open!!! DAMIT OPEN!!! Prime you said the Matrix would lite are darkest hour! Awesome review Sir! Thanks to you I'll be picking this up. Yes there are some minor flaws and the stress marks really bother me but despite all that Magnus is an awesome figure. Thanks for the review.
What do u want for ultra Magnus?
Optibotimus, please do a review on sideshow deadpool that comes at the end this year.
while the mp22 is looking solid, i am looking forward for the ss86 ultra magnus as i just got my ss86 version of it.
