I was 12 years old. My parents wouldn’t let me by this tape. So my friends and I went to the public library. You could check out the record. Just 3 12 year olds sitting in the back of the young adult section with three sets of headphones hooked up to one record player. Rocking out as quietly as possible. The 80s rocked.

When I was in high school, one of the New York radio stations was having a school spirit contest. Whichever school submitted the most signatures would win a concert by Motley Crue. I remember signing my name at least 500 times. Anyway, we won but our principal wouldn't allow them to come to our school. In order to see them, we had to go into NYC, manhattan. So my mother decided to rent a limo and took me, my brother, and two of my friends into the city and it was such a good time. It was a small venue and my ears rang for 3 days after, but what a show. Three of my friends made it onto the stage as well. Was so grateful for that, will never forget that great memory.

Leave it to Motley to do a song about their favorite strip clubs. If you watch any of the episodes of "Behind the Music" or other documentaries covering the hair bands from the Sunset Strip in L.A., you'll find almost all of them talk about how they owe their survival to the local strippers. The dancers all had money, and the bands were all broke, so the girls provided them with food and often helped out with rent and other bills on top of it.

    • @alberth9418
      @alberth9418 2 роки тому

The bands were funded not by strippers, but by the generous but moronic middle-aged married men who thought they had a chance with the strippers.

The girls who dressed like this and danced in these old videos were called "video vixens." They made a TON of money, especially in 80s music videos for hair bands - Whitesnake (Tawny Kitaen RIP :( ), Bobbie Brown (Warrant), Sharise Neil, who was in this Motley Crue video and married to lead singer Vince Neil, and even Alisha Silverstone (Aerosmith). When rock became out of fashion, the video vixens switched to hip hop videos.

OMG, Motley Crue was at the height of their debauchery when this album, came in 87: it was on this tour that bassist Nikki Sixx overdosed on heroin, the paramedics pulled the sheet over his head, but then one of them made one last attempt to revive him with two cardiac needles of adrenaline into his heart! The release party for this album was held at The Body Shop on The Sunset Strip in Hollywood. Initially MTV only allowed this video to be played after 8pm before eventually making it the first video to be banned fro, the network.

Thee Dollhouse IV (yes, with two e’s; that’s not a typo) near (not actually in) Fort Lauderdale, the Tattletale Lounge in Atlanta, the Seventh Veil in Hollywood, Crazy Horse in Paris, the Body Shop in West Hollywood, the Marble Arch in Vancouver, and the Hollywood Tropicana in Los Angeles are or were (some are still open, others long closed) all real strip clubs where the band went. I'm 59 and still love hair metal, I graduated high school in 1981. My first concert I ever went to was KISS in 1977 on Christmas day at what used to be the Summit here in Houston, where the Rockets used to play. I don't think there was a month that went by without going to a concert until 1989 when my son was born. Kids have a funny way of making you get your financial priorities in order quick!
Out of all the concerts I went to I will cherish the last on I went to, which was Motley Crue on their ending tour in 2017, I took my son, and my grandson. It was freakin' awsome. My grandson still talks about it to this day!
If you want to check out a modern version of hair metal, which I think is awesome, check out "Pop Evil, Boss' Daughter". Mick Mars, which is the guitarist in Motley Crue is featured in their video and had a creative hand in the sound for the song.

This totally takes me back to my junior year in high school. September 16, 1987 Motley Crue played the second night of their Dallas, TX stop at Reunion Arena with Whitesnake opening the show, and that whole night was such a fun concert. At one point, the singer Vince Neil introduced Stephen Pearcy and Robin Crosby, the lead singer and co guitarist of RATT, on stage and they all played Rock n Roll by Led Zeppelin. As a 16 year old kid, I thought, this doesn’t get any better than this. I was also really impressed by MickMars’ guitar tone, the overall tone of his guitar was so ridiculously full, that there was really no need for a rhythm guitar player during a solo. And speaking as a guitarist myself, that’s typically unheard of.
Such great times. Thanks for the trip down memory lane! I love checking out your channel. Y’all have a great new year!

This was the first tour where Tommy had the 360° rotating drum kit (but only "East to West" - Not forwards and backwards (that got added on the next tour.)-He still needed oxygen to play his solo (he had blood not delivering enough oxygen to his brain, mechanically - Never mind any drugs he might have been on!).
I saw then with David Coverdale's l.a. version of Whitesnake
[The one where he destroyed the band who recorded the album:
John Sykes - guitars, voice; Aynsley Dunbar - drums; Neil Murray - bass, voice
and replaced them with a "straight-out-of-l.a." band, which never played on that 1987 album, but was in the videos!
    (which was):
    Vivian Campbell - guitars [ex-Dio];
Tommy Aldridge - drums [ex-Ozzy Osbourne, ex-Pat Travers Band, ex-Black Oak Arkansas (wherein he, effectively, invented every style & 'move' for '80s metal drumming (in the '70s!!!!🤘🤘)-)]
Rudy Sarzo - bass [also formerly in Ozzy Osbourne's band, Randy Rhoads' old friend and, also, in the re-boot version of: Quiet Riot, from the '80s!]
    and
Adrian Vandenberg - guitars [This Dutch shredder was the ONLY member of the band who had performed on the 1987, self-titled Whitesnake album. Adrian cut a single solo on that (for his friend, John Sykes!).
Adrian had had U.S. radio success, with his OWN band [Vandenberg] in the early '80s.
"Wait" and "Burning Heart" were hits and received tons of rock radio airplay.
The first 2 studio albums were full of juicy melodic metal.
"Your Love Is In Vain" is a 'go-to'!!!!🤘🤘🔥🔥🔥🔥
...anyway: Vandenberg split after 3 albums and Adrian was, generally, doing studio work
...before David Coverdale moved his solo project: Whitesnake, to the U.S. & reconfigured them.])
    Whitesnake opened.
    Crüe were the headliner.
This album SUCKS ...but, as ever!: The Crüe knew how to put on a show.
...but: it was 1987 and ...labels had taken over.
    Cliff Burton had died.
Thrash-Metal became a blip on the wider public's consciousness, because: Metallica (now, w/Jason Newsted) did the thing they said they would never do: release a video [the video for: "One"] and, the Damaged Justice tour (and the following segments in the summer and fall) brought in massive crowds. ...by 1990: Lars would take the band from: Thrash-Metal to radio rawk, with: "Enter Sandman" and bring in a new, less intent generation of 'tallicA fans.
    ...leading to the need for:
Public Enemy, Living Colour, N.W.A., Nine Inch Nails, Smashing Pumpkins, Faith No More, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Pearl Jam, Alice In Chains [THE metal act of the '90s!], Soundgarden and (of course), the massively punk-influenced Nirvana.
(as well as N.W. compatriots such as the long-grinding: MELVINS (et al.!).
...This was the upsurge (upDIRGE) of what became known as "hair metal" and the dilution of everything that had started the 1980s & been cool!
    ...The last gasp.
...but: it led to good things, despite !!
-and, yes: Tommy's rotating drum kit was a cool-ass showpiece and fun beyond measure!!🤘🤘🔥

Amber, in my early 20's I worked at Tattletales in Atlanta....lol. There were 2 sister clubs too. Ponytails which was mostly 50's music and then Top's n Tails which was quite larger and top 40's. We actually had a swing on one of the stages. Long time ago....lol. That was in 1990

Man, I'll tell you what...the thing that makes Motley so good was the good good riffs. Mick Mars wasn't trying to be Eddie Van Halen...
Micks in a class all by himself.
'You're all I need' is another really good one. Good Good riffs.

I remember the ones in Atlanta and Fort Lauderdale Were really packed after this song came out. Great memories of all those hair band when I had hair .

Always stoked to see you guys react to a Crue song!!! If a big time rock band tried coming out with this song today I would almost bet that there'd be an uproar about it degrading women and whatnot. The 80's definitely fostered and boosted this kind of stuff. is it degrading? Maybeeeee. Does it ROCK? Hell yeah!!! And sometimes, that's all we really want. No politics, no message, no class. Haha!!!

MC knows how to appreciate the beauty of a real woman. The girls in the places they mention are top notch. They are beautiful, have almost flawless bodies, and entertain without being too raunchy. FYI - The girl Vince (the lead singer) carries out of the bar is Sharice. He married her and had a daughter with her back in the day. Unfortunately, that little beauty herself died at a young age of some type of cancer and they soon divorced. It is portrayed in their movie "The Dirt." Hope you guys get a chance to watch it before your next MC reaction so you can let us know...unless you already have and I haven't seen that part.

Once seen Vince Neil perform this song when he went solo and he was opening
act for Jackyl and Tesla. He came out so drunk that that girls, girls, girls was the only part of any song he sang that night he could remember. A roadie sang all the rest. When Tesla came out after Jackyl, they were really giving Vince hell about it

Tommy and the girls fight over the last can of hair spray. Love it. Never had hair that teased up, but did have a ponytail when I played in a band in college. Mick was Mick. Just doing his own good thing. The whole band had a vibe, but the music was usually very solid. I liked them. Still do.

Right on, White Snake opened here in Phoenix, my first concert with my new roommates after graduating HS and moving to the desert to go to school. I was the first person in the apartment and a dude walks in, spots the Maiden poster and bong and says in the strongest Tennessean accent, "we're gonna get along just fine". A group of us went, it was cool because we were all from different states in a new place and liked the same music.
      Damn time flies..

Great band, great album, great title song from my High School days in 1987!
Still waiting for both of you to react to Ozzy Osbourne with Randy Rhoads live 1981 "Mr. Crowley" "Suicide Solution" "I Don't Know" or "Crazy Train" as you have to watch Randy Rhoads play live and these are rare for me 2021 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Inductee who tragically died in a plane crash less than a year after the 1981 "After Hours" show on March 19, 1982.
To learn more about Randy and his legacy, to include being the founder of Quiet Riot in the mid70s before they became famous following his death with Metal Health which Motley Crue 's Nikki Sixx once auditioned for before getting famous. Movie is called "Randy Rhoads: Reflections of a Guitar Icon" and it is on Amazon Prime.

Oh the 80's. I lived it. I loved it. I survived it (I think). And yes, it WAS all that! The only thing I don't miss? The small fortune spent on Rave hairspray, curling irons and ripping up perfectly good, brand new t-shirts. What a TIME to be alive. I'd go back in a heartbeat. It was wonderful!
