    I don’t dislike the 2024 exterior but I do prefer the 2023. The Tacoma had its own look, now it’s a mini Tundra. I also agree about preferring interior of the 2023. I am partial because I just bought a 23 TRD OR and love it. That Tacoma look will always be valued I believe.

    It is a hard call if you're looking for a truck to keep for 10 years. Potential turbo issues vs the comfort of daily driving... and the price change is significant. I wish Toyota could have maintained a V6, even with a smaller displacement.

      If 10 years is your benchmark I wouldn't stress over the turbo, turbo 4s are a solved problem at this point. Even turbo cars that people make fun of for being "unreliable", like the mk6 GTIs, are fine with 10+ years.

    I would go with the old model extended cab because I just don’t need a crew cab. The best thing about the old extended cab are the rear access doors that for some reason the knuckle heads at Toyota decided to do away with in the new model. Big mistake on their part.

      Leaf springs are better for towing. There won't be any aftermarket support for the new Tacoma for at least a few months. Even Banks Power makes performance parts for the 3rd Gen Tacoma including a high flow exhaust. The new turbocharged V6 Ranger that is sold in Australia had the oil line to the turbo leak and destroyed the engine on the UA-cam channel DMW. ua-cam.com/video/1DFI384ANw8/v-deo.htmlsi=Sd-wG53Izs1fehWN

  • @adir_1
    @adir_1 8 місяців тому +1

    I think it's a tough call between the Tacoma and the Tundra. A lot of the issues with the 3rd gen have not been addressed. Redesigned boxed frame but still 1200 lbs payload? The back seat is still very cramped and it doesn't have to be. The 212" platform that most manufacturers use for midsize trucks is capable of a good back seat but space is wasted with long hoods and front ends. Especially since they ditched the V6 and went to the 4 cylinder / EPS. The engine bay should be much smaller hence more cab space without a longer truck. A wider bed floor would have been nice for sheet goods like they did with the Ranger for 2024. I know I'm complaining a lot and I love the new look overall but when the Tacoma is 55K and a similar trim Tundra is 58-59K it really doesn't make much financial sense. Unless your garage is too small or you hate driving a bigger truck. I just wish they would use space more efficiently like Honda did with the Ridgeline.

    Have a 2017 TRD 4X4 and probably just going to drive it until it dies, the new model is a step backwards with a turbo 4 cylinder as it will never go 200,000 or more mile without expensive overhaul of turbo, motor or both. A V8 option would have me signing papers tomorrow as I wish they put in a small high tech one, truck guys love V8s. Price increase is big and you have to ask why since they are all now made in Mexico. Maybe they will get it right in 2025😎

    The old truck is more muscular looking then the new one hands down why would you buy a cookie cutter new one that looks like the tundra😅 and pay 5 to 10 grand more😊 if you want to be the new kid on the Block go for it but not for me I'll keep my 22 TRD off-road.

    The old Tacoma has a nicer exterior profile IMO. New Tacoma fixes some of the interior gripes & shortcomings. Overall, I’d go with the new Ford Ranger or GMC Canyon before the Toyota.

    i do like the new one but for a decently equipped sport or offroad, it is definitely not worth 55k. I have a 17 fully loaded sport 4x4 and got it for 36,200 out the door. New one i believe is just a profit maker for toyota. I think its actual value is closer to 40k. I know the fanboys will argue that its worth up to 70k cause they have to have it. Good luck and hope it doesn't keep you broke with payments.

    I picked up my 2024 this week. Coming from a 3rd gen I can tell you I don't miss the old v6 at all. The turbo 4 with the single sushi slicer has plenty of power and torque and the truck drives very well. Reliability and longevity will be told in time. Just my thoughts.

  • @bsd7342
    @bsd7342 8 місяців тому

    Every car review youtuber never seems to understand WHY the 3rd gen powertrain feels sluggish, including yourself. They always assume it's some design flaw that can't be fixed. But my research indicates that it's a dirty software trick towards meeting EPA emissions numbers. Likely as an alternative to doing the autoshutoff stuff that other manufacturers did. And if you pay 500 to get an OTT or KDMAXX ecu retune, the problem is resolved. The reason why the 4runner is "better" is simply because the 4runner design came out earlier when the numbers weren't as strict. ECU tuning can has a dark side though, it technically voids your powertrain warranty and you should always clear it with your insurance company.

    The new one looks better in and out no doubt. The old one seating position is only good for midgets. Also old one gearing is horrible with constant shifting on highways with any grade. Old one V6 is superior and will last longer. I have to say engine bay of old is so much cleaner. The new ones ride will be better. I take the new one if I could👏

    I think the 24's are down right ugly, way too many hard angles. The 23 generation are very handsome and will age really well. I was pretty pumped about the resesign and it was a big dissapointment. Toyota's styling lately has been a mess, just weird overstated angles all over the place and no real fluidity. Glad they finally made some updates to the driveline and suspension though. It's still a shame you have to go with the Limited trim to get full time 4WD. These would probably sell even better if you could get full time 4WD in the lower trims, that's also a no go for me living in a arctic climate. Swicthing in and out of 4WD all the time sucks.

    New Tacoma has too much crap, I'd like the 360 cam, and some outlets in the back seat, but at the end of the day, it's a truck. Needs to be ready to work at the turn of a key (or push of the button). Needs to fit me and 3 friends or the wife and the dog. Needs to be durable inside and out, and be able to drive around construction sites, or into the woods hunting, into the camp site at the camp ground, and in my case, through some deep January snow. The way they designed the 24 Tacoma, doesn't give me that same confidence! It could be better in some aspects but it makes me feel like it's designed more for going to the mall, or to a cubicle job, not loading down with logs, or filling with cinder blocks, and then heading into the woods on an old logging trail.
