lol! Yeah, I love the new kit! I have the Mapex Saturn V for my maple/walnut tones, and then the Pearl for my mahogany/birch tones. Thanks for stopping by and the comment! Have a great day! 👊
Yeah bro, this thing will be absolutely ferocious once I'm done with it. That African mahogany is something else! Appreciate it! Have a great weekend! 🙌 👊 🥁
Thanks, little bro! It's a great kit! I can't really stand Pearl's mounting system, but that's why I got creative and made a stand and eliminated some hardware. Once I get some decent heads on it and fine tune it, it'll be awesome! Have a great weekend! 👊
Maaaaan, that kit, even with the UT sounds greaaaaat!!! love your dog, bro... totally cool with the drums... i know both of your dogs fell sleep while you are playing... i had a dog that did the same... no matter the volume... she was always around when my brother and i were jamming...
Hey, brother! Thanks so much! Yeah, I love this kit! Still can't stand Pearl's hardware, but the tone of these shells is so good, I was willing to look past it. Haha! I wish I could've easily found matching sets and dimensions of new batters and resos to put on it, but in store stock is really bad, and everytime I order heads through shipping them, there's the chance of getting broken/cracked/out of round ones. So, I'm waiting until the backorder comes in store to put all new heads on it. When taking it anywhere to play, I'm probably just going to use a snare basket and put 1 rack tom up to eliminate headaches and having to take a bunch of hardware with me to set up. It'll sound great in the cover stuff too. Yeah, my dogs are my best buds! They hear drums, they come running! lol! Have a great day!
Hey, dude! Heck yeah! They're cheap too. I got that clamp for 35 bucks or something. When using it for anything other than in the studio, I'm just going to use a snare basket and 1 up anyway, but to get the full kit setup and rocking for the home studio, I built that. Much easier to use than dog bone clamps plus Pearl mounts off cymbal stands. Thanks, man! Once I get some good heads and dial it in, it's going to sound great! 👊
Thanks, brother! Love the new kit! It'll sound amazing once I get some proper heads on it and dial it in. You can hear even with the Chinese stock heads that it has brilliant tone. Thin hybrid shells, African mahogany, masters grade plies and hardware, and 60° bearing edges. It's a very specific design and tone. Now I have all my bases covered tone wise and dimensionally, rather than having redundancy in multiple maple and 22" bass drums. 🙌 Appreciate it! Happy drumming, bro! 👊 🥁
@@Rick-m3c I have a couple. A DW 9000 tractor seat, a RocNSoc, and an Ahead Spinal Glide. Out of all of them, the Ahead spinal glide ("spinal G") is the most comfortable if you sit on the throne a lot. The others are fine too, but not nearly as comfortable.
@@blakenunndrums Great info Blake. I have a really bad back from distance running. The Ahead seat has the same biomechanical features as good bike saddles, like the ones made by Selle. Thanks for the immediate reply.
@user-yq5od9uj3f I get it, my bro! I fractured my spine wrestling when I was 12, and it took me many spinal surgeries and a spinal cord stimulator implant to be able to walk again. The Ahead is expensive, but definitely worth the money! No problem! Happy drumming!
@@blakenunndrums Sorry to hear about your medical difficulties, I can definitely relate. Although spinal surgeries at 12 had to be really frightening. Anyway great playing. I'm going to buy the Masters Maple Gum but that birch mahogany bass drum is just incredible. The only bass drums that I've heard that can rival it are the Yamaha birch Stage Custom and the Sonor medium birch. If I can get Pearl to finish a Sessions kit in the same finish I choose for the maple Gum I might splurge and get both and mix and match. Take care.
Hows this kit coming along? I just got the same kit in the classic sizes. I love it, but the black dot remos dont seem be working. And not sure which direction to go next.
Yeah, that kit is hybrid mahogany and birch, with a lot of depth and dark tone. It could be a tuning issue (try going lowest tension and SEAT and STRETCH the heads as much as possible. I don't use Remos anymore for that reason. The only company that has sent me cracked rings, lopsided heads, glue in the wrong spots, etc. Evan's all the way! Or, I also really like Aquarian texture coated heads too. I'd go with an Aquarian over a Remo any day, and an Evans over either one of those. Evans G2 as batters, G1 clear for resos. You have to REALLY seat, stretch, tune, redo the whole thing over again, etc to get it to sound as deep and punchy as possible, while still holding tension. Lemme know if you need more help. That kit is PHENOMENAL! So, it's not a kit issue. It's a head or tuning issue.
@@blakenunndrums I was already considering Evans. You might have just sold me. What you're saying makes sense. It hates being tuned up high to the slightest degree. Was thinking of coated 2 ply to really access and tighten up the low end since it goes on forever with my black dots. To a point where the floor toms blend in together.
@@JeremiahBloodworth I use coated heads on almost all my kits (yes, I have 6. Lol)! If you want that "slap" sound of plastic and not as warm a sound (rock mostly), then clears are good. If you want warmth, a longer lasting head, and more range; coated are great! Depends on the genre. But coated Evans G2s as batters, with CLEAR G1s as resos is the best cheaper head combo I've ever found! I've played them all, and on many different kits.
That's called sympathetic resonance, and is natural to some extent. The key to fixing that doesn't have to do with your kit/toms so much, but to do with the tension of your snare wires and positioning of drum underneath/close to others. I would try tuning up your resonant head of your snare and tightening the strainer on your snare some. That will help more than trying to fix your kit to deal with a sympathetic resonance snare drum issue.
That's some pretty toys for big boys

Does the snare wires rattle when hitting the toms?
