On this channel we like to do a lot of dogfighting most videos are some sort of dogfight between 2 different aircraft as we explore their different capabilities. From time to time I like to dabble in Virtual Reality, I think VR is a great new technology and I love to show that stuff off for the channel from time to time.
If you prefer more up close and personal dogfights consider the IL-2 Sturmovik: Great Battle series and experience intense WWII aerial combat over famous battlefields such as Stalingrad, Moscow, Rhineland and Normandy. Fight in and against Russian, American, German, British warbirds such as the P-51 Mustang, P-47 Thunderbolt, Bf-109, FW-190, Spitfire, Hurricane and rugged IL-2 Sturmovik attack plane. You can also fly legendary SPADS, Fokkers and Camels in WWI dogfights over the trenches of WWI and discover your inner Red Baron! And all of this can be experienced in jaw dropping virtual reality!

Su-27+ vs F-14 BVR, I just want to see how the F-14 does against modern Su aircraft esp the Phoenix. Preferred over/near ocean in the F-14 natural environment. Love your content as always buddy!!!

@@Herb___ problem with that is the fact that DCS doesn’t model Stealth. The f35 would be detected on radar as if it were like a f-15. So it more or less would preform like such.
I would definitely like to see more of the "Bandit Unknown" series, but without the F-22 or Su-57. Perhaps have a bandit unknown BVR vision as well. It would be interesting to see how you would handle different situations with different aircraft. Perhaps change up the area where you are fighting so it forces you and your bandit to use different tactics.
If they could find a way to do IL-2 WW2 bandit unknown that would be cool as hell.

Bvr is so much fun to watch especially against people, so much things comes into play best strategy and tactical fighting I’ve ever seen no other combat system comes close to bvr on a jet
Dude i can't tell you how much I love when you make vids on WWII fights. The only thing I'm missing is the 1v1s in this era. Those are the most legendary duels in my opinion.
The Tempest was a weapon. Theres a book by Pierre Clostermann called "The Big Show" where he recounts flying and fighting the Tempest. He loved the machine, and its an incredible book.

Hey GS, highly recommend you to get a buttkicker with SimShaker Wings. Then IL-2 in VR feels so real because you can feel the rpm of the engine, your gun shots, stall, your gear or even the surface of the runway. If you get shot it's scary as hell. I can't play without it anymore, feels lifeless and like flying a glider.
It is truly amazing in this game.
VR and HDR do so much to change your gaming experience. People who aren't able to experience HDR in games are missing out, it's such a different experience when you're trying to play games and you find yourself turning away from the sun because it's so bright or actually being blinded by things like flashbangs.

If I can recommend Pierre Clostermann's "The Big Show", his memoirs as a French pilot flying with the RAF, first in Spitfires and then with Tempests. Excellent read.

Tempest is an absolute beast of a prop fighter. Typhoon as a fighter may have been a bust, but hot DAMN Hawker got her working right with the Tempest.

Great stuff! The moment you said you felt greedy, I was afraid it was a recipe for trouble. The Tempest was instantly my favourite RAF WWII aircraft after reading Pierre Clostermann's "The Big Show" when I was a kid.
I'm a Microsoft Combat Simulator "Veteran".. way back when dial-up and dsl were the only game in town. I've been looking for that WWII experience combined with PvP ever since. BF 1943 (42) was incredibly fun, but not realistic.. A decade and more later, I found IL-2 Sturm in 2016.. I HATED IT. I couldn't fly for crap..
..that is until I found your channel a few months ago and began to learn how the Dogfight tactics work!

@@Hadgerz IIRC due to this Typhoon and Tempest pilots were instructed to use the oxygen mask at all times, and not only at altitude like many other planes.

The Tempest engine did not have the fire problem or the exhaust entering the cockpit. Both had been solved or solutions found. My dad flew the Typhoon and loved it even though he lost a lot of friends when doing ground attack
@@Hadgerz CO2 poisoning isn't subtle, you notice it because your body is built to, it's CO (monoxide) that's the subtle one, because your body can't tell a blood cell permanently bound to a CO molecule to one bound to an 02 molecule.

The excellent 20mm Hispano-Suiza arming the Tempest is still technically in service as the A-4 Skyhawk carried a modernized variant of it and A-4s are still in use in South America.

Hey GS, have you ever tried a wheel landing? The idea is to touch down on the mains and, just as you contact the runway, let the stick come forward. This helps kill the lift on the wing and prevent bounces. Then, the aircraft will gently settle on the tail wheel as you proceed along.
I think you're the first I've seen flying the Tempest - Cool!
I´d love it to see this beauty against modern jets. Its firepower seems strong enough so as to blast anything with a just 1 or 2 sec burst.

Love the fly home portion and seeing you can land it. Plus I’m a fan of seeing the bullet holes all around the airport. Post damage assessment could be cool. Lol

I fly the Tempest rarely exactly because it offers its pilot so many advantages. I don't consider myself a good enough pilot to risk learning to rely on those advantages. As said, I do very rarely fly it just for fun, we're playing a game after all :)
Another great video GS. I still have no gaming system being out here on the border of Mexico. Maybe this spring I can go back and grab it? Other issue is there is no high speed connection here. Sat and direct line of sight so I'm shit out of luck there till someone gets a HSI here. Anyways congrats on the 250K hit. Like I said before I love the channel.

Love that you show landings! So many sim pilots are too afraid to show theirs. It's why on the boat the navy grades every single trap and it is searchable for the rest of your career and life. Unrelated to the video, but do you think an A-26 would be a good module for DCS? I reckon if ED or a 3rd Party dev team did an A-26 with the glass nose AND the utility nose with the possible 14 .50cals, that would be a very fun plane. 4,000lbs internal bomb load and 14 .50s!!! 8 in the nose and 3 in each wing.
I'd love to see a WW2 fighter in the Bandit unkown series.
It may sound like a joke, but in a dogfight, a slow but nimble fighter can give a fast fighter a really hard time.
Sure, the modern fighter can extend away but if it decides to stick in the merge-the outcome can be very intersting.

What's interesting about the BF-110's is that they are often...mis-represented in wargames. When initially alotted to fighter pilots, they were incredibly lethal - capable of dogfighting with Spitfires and Hurricanes in the right hands. When switched to bomber crews shortly after...then they were less fearsome and become prey for Allied fighters. Late war I'd imagine they were outclassed, but around the Battle of Britain they were supremely capable aircraft, despite their size.

That was fun.
The Typhoon and Tempest operated mostly at low to medium altitudes. They were used mainly as ground attack aircraft and not as fighters. Although some were used as low-level interceptors to counter V-1's and fighter-bomber Fw-190's because of their speed and acceleration. However, their Napier Sabre engines although very powerful were maintenance nightmares and they were costly to operate.
Supposedly the Tempest was the highest performing piston-engined aircraft at low-level.
An Me-262 pilot also pointed out that the only thing that really filled him with fear was the sight of a Tempest.
