On this channel we like to do a lot of dogfighting most videos are some sort of dogfight between 2 different aircraft as we explore their different capabilities. From time to time I like to dabble in Virtual Reality, I think VR is a great new technology and I love to show that stuff off for the channel from time to time.
If you prefer more up close and personal dogfights consider the IL-2 Sturmovik: Great Battle series and experience intense WWII aerial combat over famous battlefields such as Stalingrad, Moscow, Rhineland and Normandy. Fight in and against Russian, American, German, British warbirds such as the P-51 Mustang, P-47 Thunderbolt, Bf-109, FW-190, Spitfire, Hurricane and rugged IL-2 Sturmovik attack plane. You can also fly legendary SPADS, Fokkers and Camels in WWI dogfights over the trenches of WWI and discover your inner Red Baron! And all of this can be experienced in jaw dropping virtual reality!
If you enjoy war thunder or Microsoft flight simulator 2020, consider getting yourself into Digital Combat Simulator by Eagle Dynamics, the Combat side of Aviation with the BVR and Dogfights really provides a different and interesting perspective on aviation. You can fly all kinds of combat aircraft including the F-16, F-15, F-14, JF-17, Su-27, Mig-29, Mirage and the F-18 Hornet along with many other aircraft and helicopters like the Ka-50 and Mi-8.

If you guys liked this Pilot Career Mode Action and want to see more of it let me know in the comment section below and we can continue and see how the story of Albert Muller ends. Thank you for watching guys.
does the game have Erik Hartmann? Germany most aerial kills ever.
I love this content, Keep up the great work
more i need more
What makes your channel good is you show the replay immediately after each kill.
Yes of course
I’d really like a series about that pilot, should be really interesting
yeah it would be cool to see a il-2 Sturmovik mini-campaing on Growling Sidewinder : )
I second that motion
I third that motion
4th
I will 5th that motion as well lads
This was pretty cool! I’d love to see more of the pilot campaign. It’s a nice format to balance out the staged dogfights
Van Burgin was a badass
ya the 1v1 Dogfights are interesting just to get a feel for aircraft performance (and we have done a lot of that) this is a whole different level and I think I'm really enjoying it.
@@GrowlingSidewinder It's very fun to watch, keep it up GS
I'd love to see more of this type of game play from you. Love your videos, bro. Randomly found you, and I enjoy your content immensely.
Yes, continue the career mode.
Pleassssse
I'm 66, and remember reading pocket books, purchased at school, depicting these stories. It is amazing to see it portrayed where you are in the moment. 👍
@@NZobservatory you too eh! Commando oh my gosh I loved those and like you I had an enormous box (that my Grandad made) full… I fly IL2 in VR and it’s everything and more that we dreamt about, if you can you HAVE to try it, there’s nothing like taking different gunners positions in an HE111 to transport you back to those comics.
Also read those Commando series, when I got older read the more serious stuff, like Sven Hazel. I was in a shock.
Should you decide to keep playing a career, I'll keep watching.
I appreciate you mike.
Yes, it is fascinating to follow his career.
Yes you should definitely do a career mode. Should be a somewhat easy video for you to since its SP you won't have to coordinate with another virtual pilot.
Thank you for taking my suggestion, I hope you enjoyed playing career mode as I enjoyed watching it.
I'm having a lot of fun man thanks for the suggestion.
Love the character and career mode. Seeing the stats at the end of the mission beyond just the medals/accommodations received would be appreciated too.
Yeah, debrief is nice
The word you're looking for is "commendations", accommodations are a different thing entirely. Also, I agree, I would like to see statistics as well.
GS: "6 looks clear..."
Me, having just seen movement: "But, the guy..."
GS: "OH my gosh."
Me: "Ok good."
I enjoyed the trial run and would enjoy seeing more. It also adds a little dynamic by not taking extreme risk. Makes you think more long term.
In the 1960's and 70's I read every book I could get hold of about the WWII pilots and their aircraft. I am currently reading again Adolf Gallands book "The first and the last" Your WWII videos bring their words to life. I would be very happy to watch any of the career mode videos you choose to make.
Upload some videos where you fly the FW-190A. Haven't seen that on your channel.
Oh man please continue this series! I'm already excited for day 2!
I really wanna see more of this. I know this isn't really something you usually do, but seeing this story through would be awesome.
Just let it happen... I'm sure he was not feeling your sentiment...alas great start to your campaign,I have watched almost all of Wolf Packs career campaigns... always exciting and I plan on watching all of yours,as always very entertaining and humourous+informative...keep up the good fight,I await your next endeavor.
10:25 you should have been more sympathetic and let him land.. surely you would have gained the take down regardless.... no?
@@jetfighter200 the guy who was all shot up was going down anyway and was no harm to anyone
I was wondering if you’d ever do a career mode. Really enjoyed it.
Monty was a failure in Sicily then he doubled down and blew Market Garden. Well done bloke. Had the Allies given Patten the gas he would have pushed into southern Germany and ended the war a lot sooner by not needing to bail out the northern armies.
Can you maybe include the briefing and debriefing for each mission. It'd be nice to see what you are suppose to do and the outcome with official kills. Thanks.
I do would love to see more of the adventures of Albert Muller. Reading his backstory at the start of the video seems that this fellow has a code of honor. Here's hoping he makes it to the end of the war. ^-^ (Hopefully not in a Soviet POW gulag 'though)
Looks like he's flying the Western Theater. Unless he gets reassigned to the East, he should be able to surrender to British or American forces.
@@uncletiggermclaren7592 sad, sad little man.
Question for GS:
So many times in your videos, I see the enemy perfectly in the center of your gunsight - but you dont fire.
And it drives me crazy cause I’m like “shoot now! Shoot him!” in my head.
But maybe you’re seeing a different angle in person, and thats why you dont fire? Or is it because you would miss if the target is in the center of the sight?
I mean I can't really answer that without an exact example, but what I can say is there are 2 reasons why I don't shoot, either I can't react in time; so its a reaction time issue or I don't think I can reliably hit the target. those are the only 2 reasons I don't shoot, so if you see a situation where you think I should have shot but I don't, one of those 2 things is true.
@@GrowlingSidewinder
Yeah, no offense, because you are a phenomenal pilot... But in the last two years as a subscriber, watching you fly literally everything, it keeps coming to mind that you seem to hesitate a lot on decent opportunities as the enemy flus through your HUD.
I agree with what others have said, that your WW1 flying made you become a very close range hunter. Which honestly is great maturation of your flying style. You absolutely have theory down... But try taking chances on some leading high angle deflection shots. Works well in boom n' zoom. Just food for thought.
Nice series, yes please. Look forward to a Pacific Theatre series!
This was awesome! You should definitely keep playing. Im sure ol’ Albert wants to get back home to his family. If you’re ever shot down and bailout, you should take into consideration the owner of the territory as well. If it’s German occupied get a new airframe and get back up there for some revenge. If it’s Allied, you’re now a POW and Albert ends up finishing the war as a prisoner of war.
At the end of each mission it tells you how many kills and of what kind. Howcome you didn't show that?
I was rooting for that Spitfire pilot who got caught trying to land the entire time, such a payoff when he bailed out!
Digging the campaign. Keep it up!
Thank you for the amazing content!!
As enjoyable as the straight dogfight vids are, there's something deeper about having one's virtual at stake. BTW Nice engine shot ala Eric Hartmann in his entanglement with P-51's I believe (and I'm sure a heap of other occasions).
Good content as usual. I'd be interested to know what in-game settings you are using, specifically the graphic settings for VR and if you are using any upscaling on the headset for improved visuals in the Rift S.
Thanks in advance.
Wow! We would have needed you 80 years ago here in Germany... ;-)
Did you gonna make a series of that pilot carrer?
Well assuming people like what they see and they want more ya I don’t see why we couldn’t do that.
@@GrowlingSidewinder i like bread
@@GrowlingSidewinder Oh I really going to enjoy that type of video, I sometimes played the campaign for that game, and I admit it's one of the best among historical simulators
@@GrowlingSidewinder I find it funny that your pilot shares a name with the theologian, Al Mohler.
yes yes yes more, I picked up il2 few days ago because of your videos.
I saw the birth year of the pilot at the beginning of the bio and thought to myself my God that's old to be a fighter pilot at such a low rank. And then it all made sense by the end of it.
Ah market garden, where monty showed us that even with superiority on land, at sea, and in air its still possible to fall flat on your face.
And then Churchill gets the idea that this same force could take on the red army and drive all the way to warsaw...
You should be in a P-38. As an American pilot.
Growling sidewinder laughing pleasantly as he sends rounds straight into his targets cockpits in each of his ww2 videos gives me energy
12:50 "oh I love doing that"
So did the Erich Hartmann, the pilot with most air to air kills of war. Once the enemy fills up your gunsight there's now way you'll miss your shots.
Yes please! More of the career mode!
6 is clear
*Spit comes out of clouds*
Not clear not clear
I really like that format in IL2. Gives the whole thing a human note.
Indeed ! Top Notch - very entertaining .
Keep the campaign going! At the end of your mission, you should show your squad’s kills and/or if any of them got injured or shot down. And end with the debrief reviewing the tactical map. Which shows the flight path and location of the planes and other things like AA were destroyed.
PS. Seeing where you stand in the local paper of the “Top aces in the sky” would
Be a good feature to show also. A fellow UA-camr named Wolfpack does a pretty good job of this In his IL2 videos (1-2yrs) for reference.
you're making me want to buy VR
IL-2 is such a underrated game
‘cause I play fairly often, I suspect I’ve missed incremental changes to the look of IL2. I know the clouds changed, but it looks like the lighting and anti-aliasing have changed as well, at least that’s what it looks like when I watch this video. Like the changes to DCS look and feel recently, changing the lighting and how shadows are rendered makes a big difference, if done properly. I had to double check this wasn’t DCS :D. I think DCS currently holds the title of best looking sim (subjective, I know). But I thought IL2 looked better before the recent changes to DCS. It’s exciting for me, I do a bunch of environment work (not real time or gaming but the principles are the same) so I’m quite sensitive to the look and artefacts etc.
Nice, I am getting to play too. Yes continus playing Mueller, love it, best channel on avation I ve seen so far !
Good one. You should run a concurrent one as Nigel with the RAF...I like how the piloting has subtly changed as you changed over to the Oculus. You can tell the difference, it's more realistic.
I'm a 53 year old man and I think I want in on this. What do you need to do this? I was never into games, but this looks like too much fun not to do.
Love the career mode, your flying is so much more sensible than mine, I’m learning heaps from you, please keep it up, we love it.
Thanks man, glad to be of service lol
lol The best part about that last kill was the fact that you know the pilot friggin died outright when that 20mm hit.
Would like to watch a complete Moscow → Stalingrad → Kuban → Market Garden/Bodenplatte campaign for the Luftwaffe (i.e. survive as long as possible and rack up as many kills as possible); Moscow → Stalingrad → Kuban campaign for VVS/PVO (started at I-16 at the beginning); or Market Garden/Bodenplatte campaign for USAAF/RAF.
Erich Hartman stated that he never felt inferior in his "Buelle"... rather, he found the later marks to e superior to Allied AC if flown with aggression and competdnce... "Blond Knight of Germany" book by Tolliver...
It might be a UA-cam compression thing, but the clouds look really flat? The DCS clouds look WAY better.
Oh and do they not mow the runway in IL2? That's LONG grass!
I'm just about to start back into Il2. Started off about 16 years ago and was heavily into 1946. I haven't played in many years. Do you mind answering a couple quick questions? How did you get the pilot career for Market Garden and do I have to buy all the Great Battles? 1946 had so much content.
Keep going with that pilot
someone know how realistic this game is?, I mean GS could have been this good in real life? lol
It would be great if you make a custom pacific csmpaign as mexican pilot from the ww2, escuadrón 201.. where they fight for the freedon for Philippines whit CAS and air to air missions whit the p47s
More of Albert please! 😁
Reminds me of the old game called Luftwaffe Commander, you got awarded medals in that too.
" For your sacrifice to the Fatherland, you have been awarded the Black Wound Badge".
Very cool 😁
Man those subs are creeping up. Congrats man!
Thanks man
Yesterday I was flying the Bf 109 K-4 in DCS for the first time and the fun sight wasn’t lined up in front of me. The sight was on the right side of the dash board and I had keep leaning pretty far to my right, so I could see down the sight line.
Is this normal in the Bf 109 K-4 in DCS?
Is there a way to align the sight so I don’t have to lean to the right to see through it?
Had this happened for real, both, the Brits and your squadron buddies would look at you like "that guy is no fool. If he remains alive and uncaptured long enough, we is on his way to becoming an ace".
If you find career move to your liking, one day you should try pat Wilson's campaign generator. It's a whole nother level of historical realism, down to accurate logistics.
Albert Muller seems like an interesting character...keep going with the career mode,it's fun to watch
I read books written by and about both allied and Axis pilots growing up a military brat in Germany back in the mid to late 80s.
Yes keep making these videos!
#NeverAgain
@growling sidewinder try pumping those rams to 3600 mhz for ryzen's full potential
You prove Hartmann right, as you are an "Experten"...lol Must've been the same way in the war...
3 spitfires? That was Gussie, Terrence and Jack! I swear I'll get you for this Fritz!
I hear that on their worst day a group of 18 109's engaged 80 bombers escorted by 150 fighters, in which a record of 8 German pilots were lost.
I like the history in the beginning, very cool.
thanks, but be carful up there...that airfield allied flak should have been ripping you a new one!
Noice! One of the best planes I have in War Thunder
JA, Albert muller, continue, strange how Albert has the same pleasure in his voice after a kill as that pesky allied growling sidewinder pilot,
With the merlin powered planes (the spit, the mossie, the mustang.) If you punch a hole in its radiators
Its not going home. The merlin is a hot beast - it'll seize pretty quick if it loses its coolant.
Subbed, loved it
Absolutely brilliant
IRL Albert Mueller would have died if he had returned to strafe that airfield... one pass only in future please, otherwise the AAA is alerted and *will* get you :D
I don't know if anyone asked that before, but did you play Falcon 3.0 when it came out?
Is there tutorials into the game? I didn't find them... And i'm also busy to look after all the settings... :P
That Albert Muller guy sounds like a fucking badass, i would like to learn more about him
I wish you would do more on this campaign. Your 109 skills are really good.
Are you using Steam to access IL2 VR? Can it be accessed without Steam?
Damn 128gb RAM, I have the same CPU as you but a 3090 but 32gb of RAM.
Love it! Keep the career mode going! 👍😎
It would seem that you lived up to his legacy on this day!
4 and one on the ground...for five...Nice!
Great flying. U r the incarnation of the Star of Africa...right on the pilot's cab!
Great video, I like the role-playing aspect of this series. Please continue.
Awesome video! Thank you! YES! More career mode play please.
Yes, I would welcome watching a career in IL2
LoL A great game of lawn dart English Spitfire way... (-;
Those are like literally flying Hot Rods wielding machine guns!
A stroke of genius moving some content to Il-2....
Excellent flying GS! You are very good in the 109.
Great vid! The guy who should be mowing the airfield needs to be fired.
Friggen awesome brother!!! Longer episodes would be good.........
Just got the game today, watching this while it downloads!
I saw this vid at 3am and cant sleep because i want to see more now. Pls keep going 😁
Albert muller becoming the new hartmann all thx to growling sidewinder
More of these videos. Enjoy the campaign mode. Keep it up.
Is this mission/career mode part of a specific DLC?
Keep career going, we all hope you are doing it in iron man mode to make it more interesting
