In this episode of field craft for nature photographers, I am building a natural photo blind without tools near a badger den. It is April which means we are getting close to possible the best time of the year for wildlife photography.
I have to get everything ready for when the cubs starts to come out to play in the early spring.
I am showing how to build the photo blind and more important I am talking about how to choose the best location using my S.W.A.D technic.

Haha. This is hilarious. I built one yesterday and I was frantically looking around youtube for a video on how to build a blind out of natural materials (there were none). If only I knew you were going to make this video today, I would have waited. Anyway, you’re probably still the reason why I build it because you’re soo inspiring. Thank you for all your work!

I’ve had a badger almost walk into me a couple of times recently. I managed some decent photos but I had to hiss to bring it’s attention to the fact I was there. They’re quite intimidating when they’re coming at you.

There are lots of Common Chiffchaffs in that forest. They are probably nesting in there... Here in Spain they are very common in winter but they dont nest here except a few pairs in some apart mountains. Good video!

Another great video. I love making and using natural photo blinds as you can totally blend in and feel as one with the area you are set up in. My methods I implement have come from two past careers, one in the British army and especially on my snipers Instructors course when you got into a FFP and the other was during my time working as a surveillance Operative in the Insurance Fraud sector and whilst conducting rural Surveillance I learned so much on how to make a hide out of everything natural which would allow me to dissappear but still be very comfortable for many hours. Keep up the excellent work.

That's so fantastic! Thank you very much! "Please no comments", haha :-D
But please: More of these very informative "How to"-videos! For me it's much more intersting than gear videos because what we as wildlife photographers want is to find the animals. That's for me the first point, the second or third is the equipment!
    Cheers,
    Joshi

Hi Morten, I hope you're well! I'm so glad I discovered you from Brendan van Son's channel in the last week, I've been catching up with all of your videos ever since! It's incredibly enjoyable watching your videos and seeing your passion and excitement for what you do and sharing it with us. I love that we can relax with a coffee and feel like we're there with you on every trip.
You inspire me and many other people and I recently bought the Tamron 150-600 G2 lens to take my own photography to the next stage so I'm looking forward to trying that out.
I look forward to watching every great video and keeping learning a lot from you and getting new ideas, thank you very much for that!
I wish you all the best and take care!

One thing that I always wondered, is if they have a great sense of smell, what about smelling coffee? I have a small blind which I seldom use, normally I just wear camo (including a mask) and sit still on a little folding chair made of camo fabric. Constructing a simple blind like the one you made in the video will really improve things. Have always enjoyed your videos and admire you for the time you spent in the Greenland patrol.
