Hi Simon Sir , Glad to know that you became the brand ambassador of Canon , Hearty Congratulations to you about it . 🎉 I am from India and I have been watching each and every video of yours , my words are falling short to describe how your videos have helped me to achieve a good skill in wildlife photography and also in other geners . Congratulations on the Ambassador status Simon, Huge thanks to Canon for not only letting you play with the R1 but allowing you to take it abroad.. Thank You Mr Canon..
I've been living in Botswana for 12 years and there is always amazing subjects. Come back and do some macro. People always go for the big 5, but its the small things that opens your eyes. I'm using an R3 and it is more than enough.
Am I the only one who think that your pics with the R1 is a major step up from the other pics you have taken? I am not saying you other photos are bad, but this is very good. Insane clarity and noise. Very great color rendering.
Started shooting birds seeing you. Despite of gear problem and shortage manage to get pleasant photos 😁 thanks a lot Simon. Love from West Bengal, India.
Simon, I've come to really enjoy and look forward to your content. You provide immense value in your videos and don't turn one or two tips into a lengthy videos, like some channels do. Keep up the great work!
I’m a lifelong Nikon shooter and at my vintage would never consider a switch to the “evil empire” yet I enjoyed and appreciate how you presented this content. I wish that Nikon “Ambassadors” would be so thoughtful. Having said that I am always leery of most Ambassadors as they may not always present a totally unbiased impression as they all “get free toys to play with”. Well done content!
Congrats on the ambassadorship and, yet another great video Simon. After this video it's not hard to understand why a sports or wildlife photographer might be seriously interested in considering the R1. Thanks for the fantastic specs rundown and the stellar photo examples. Hats off to you Simon.
Thanks Simon, congratulations for being a Canon Ambassador now! Totally deserved. I'd be happy to see an R5 (or ev. R5 Mark II) vs R1 comparison for high ISO pictures (12800 & 25600) with a severe crop. I could imagine the R1 giving better results even with less pixels, given its better low-noise performance.
Hi Simon, thanks for presenting this Canon R1 and an honest and fair review. It's good having the Buttons in the right place, it can get frustrating when it's difficult and not second nature. What stood out for me was having the Low Pass Filter, it makes a difference. The image quality is fantastic and the colours are like what we see in the field. I've learnt something new today and I appreciate you sharing it with us viewers. Thanks Simon 😊
R5 shooter here. The R1 and the R5ii look amazing. They’re unfortunately out of my budget currently. Now that you have Canons ear, tell them to release the R7ii asap! I’m darn curious about getting more reach with my 100-500 lens! Go get them Simon!!
Wow Simon you had a really good time in Botswana with the R1 Canon camera. It takes very good photos and videos and I am sure you are impressed with this camera. Magnificent photos you took with it. Wild life photographers will forsure love this camera with all it's amazing features.
Your use of the little owl to explain a concept is so good! I'm glad you didn't retire the little guy. Your comparisons were so simply and easily understood, right on par with all of your videos
Having just got back from 3 months driving around Africa, I have to say it would be the perfect spot to test out a new camera! Raw pre-capture is something I'd really love to have in my Nikon. Congrats on being selected by Canon to do this!
I'm a complete beginner when it comes to photography, but I'm really passionate about learning it to take my own pictures. I had to watch this video over and over this camera is very nice for my work this is the next mirrorless camera I'm getting. I just saw the video and I knew I had to watch it, you are my favorite photographer Simon
Superb image quality right there. I have the r6 mark ii which has beautiful image quality too, but now I will have to catch the wife in a good mood and break the news that I want the R1. That should be fun! Congratulations on becoming a Canon Ambassador, with all your helpful videos I think it's very well deserved. Appreciate your time
Thanx Simon, another great video, I shoot with R3 and love it, has a lot of the R1 features I understand, same sensor 24MP, shots come out so clear....Great to see a proper video on the R1 someone who really knows what they are doing with it...Colin Devon UK.
Another great video Simon. You explained the available functions in terms I could understand. A great comparison to the R5 and I have to say something of those featured shots were incredible. You must be proud of them. Keep them coming!
I have a Canon 5D mark III. I mainly do urban photography and landscape photography so, as amateur, it doesn't make too much sense to break the bank for a new body. But boy.... this new autofocus features looks like real magic and I loved watching this very comprehensive review
Enjoyed the video! thanks! I’ve been debating whether to hold out for the R1 over the R5m2 and you have certainly helped make the decision. Your upbeat, explanatory style is a gift to us here on UA-cam - thanks for making these videos!
The R1 looks like a beast, beautiful images there Simon. We have gotten to a time with pre-capture that it’s almost like cheating, but it still requires great skills. I fell in love with my Sony A7RV when I went to Castillo De St. Marcos Monument in St. Augustine at night with the little spot light they had shining at the building. My wife was shocked when she saw the images, considering how dark it was and I caught a man moving through one of my shots. I shot handheld at between 5 seconds and well under that and with decent breathing techniques, and the eight stops of image stabilization, I was getting amazing sharpe images. I didn’t think image stabilization, which I often took for granted considering my old DasLR days. I can normally shoot down to 15 to 30 (Mirrorless or DSLR) seconds and still get good images, but I practiced this technique and controlling my breathing for years, several times a week, obviously not using a 300-600mm lens of course at f2.8.
Thank you for a really great review! I am trying to decide between the R1 and the R5mkII and it’s not easy :) You’ve gained a sub as well. Also some really great shots in there!
