So sorry to hear about people dying from CO. Such a tragedy ; now totally preventable! I am the owner of the Tacoma that John had a few weeks ago. It probably lived its life up there & then was shipped down here(I am in NC) hoping that we would not know any better. Well I used the rust as a bargaining chip. But it was a little worse that I figured. John did a great job making chicken salad out of chicken S#!T. haha! Now that Ty-Wrap was only on there to calm my wife down. Haha2! I knew it had little holding power for the bed. Now with the frame fixed, that power train is still legendary. It was MFG right & maintained WELL! On the critical parameter of oil consumption @ 229K miles it drops like a few tablespoons in 1000miles. Both this 3.4L & the 2.7L that I had in the past were like that. & after 2000miles not only is oil still close to the fill line, but it is as pure as vegetable oil. If we ever have a Mad Max VII situation after nuclear war, these motors from rusted out Tacoma's cam be powering all sorts of contraptions. As for the Nissan, you guys got lucky with oil filter. Looks impossible to get a filter wrench on it. I have seen them so tight they have to be destroyed. Keith

I think the engineers do that just so they can sit back and laugh at you. Sometimes you'll wonder what was going through their mind when they designed it

That 1qt per 1000 is an industry standard. It was like that all the way back to the 70’s when my ole man was a tech at the dealer. It’s a bunch of crap, but that’s what they want to go with, what ya gonna do??

I recently lost a friend working on his hotrod in his shop, he was over come by carbon monoxide poisoning and passed away. I wish he’d had one of these.

I change my oil as soon as I can't read the ADD script on the stick. This puppy has been very poorly maintained.
