Very nice images, Marcus ! 3 years ago, I bought my Leica M8 in Hamburg. I also added an IR filter to the Voigtländer 35mm 1.4 Nokton lens to avoid ugly colour surprises. Thanks alot for sharing your thoughts with us all. I found your review really intresting so I immediately subscribed to your channel. Take care, greetings form Antwerp, Roger ;-)
Marcus I’m now following you. Lovely images. I have been shooting my m8.2 since 2010 and use it every week and it’s on every international trip. It’s been to 4 continents at least twice each. I truly love this camera. I have it charged for this weekends road trip. I do have an m4 loaded with some ilford fp4. Enjoy it mate. Glad your enjoying the 28. I’ve the zeiss 28 biogon. Cheers from Ireland 🇮🇪
Hey Colin, yea man i really enjoy the m8 every time i bring it out and plan on taking it with me all around. Ive been looking into zeiss glass as well. How you liking it?
Great images Marcus, encouraging as well cos I’ve had my M8 less than two weeks! I’ve been shooting in black and white so far - that’s my thing, but encouraged now to order the filter and try Profile 2 being the one I’ve set up for colour. Mine is a keeper too…✌️🇦🇺
Oh, man, the YT app on my TV fed me this video and I actually went and grabbed my iPad so I could comment. Your results are superb! This video really took me back. Many years ago I sort-of kicked off the photography content on my YT channel with an M8 video (laughably poorly produced - it was YT early days 🤓). You are 100% correct that the CCD sensor really made the M8 and M9 very special. I’m glad M8s are out there being used still. Hell, I’ve been considering a Q2, but you have me considering an M9, since I still have all my M-mount glass! Again, the photos you show here are phenomenal. Keep up the good work!
Another awesome video! I'm glad you were able to get an M8. I also love the CCD sensor and just the tactile feel of using it. Hope to see you out shooting in NYC one day!
Bro that ccd sensor is something special and the fact that not many have this camera makes the images even more special to the eye. We have to go out shooting one day. Hit me on IG
Hello! Some nice shots here! Yes, there is sth about those colours, the rendering;-) so…I got me a M8 last week, refurbished and modified by Leica from M8 to M8.2. I don’t know what it is, but this camera is already a “always in the bag”. So much joy to use. I bought her as a b/w camera in addition to my M240 and Z7, as I like to use different cameras when using 35mm film … kind of weird maybe but it’s just me … always good light!👍🏼
I'm on board with you on your M8 comments. I have the M8.2 and usually have an old Canon 28mm f/2.8 plugged into it. That lens is quite good on the camera. Yes, I agree about the CCD. I dnerstand that the M240 can be made to look like the CCD with the proper post processing. But bottom line the M8/M8.2 is a sweet camera and has great color. Your photos were great BTW.
Hey Marcus, I have the Q but looking at the M series. This is super helpful! I look for "word on the streets" as opposed to the fanboys and your reviews of M8 ring true, ie you're being honest. Everyone who has used the later M series points back to the M8! So thank you for this info.
This video is old but maybe you will still see this? I am absolutely amazed at your results with this camera. Definitely is talent right there in knowing how to get the best out of your gear so very well done! I was wondering how you meter with the M8? The way I understand it is that the files have limited DR and you should treat it like slide film, so I'm curious about how to get the best exposure.
Totally agree with treating it like a film camera with some digital features. I have an M-9 and I will shoot up to 320 ISO, but I mostly just bend over backwards to give it the light it wants. When I've shot with a bounce flash indoors the amount of detail from the sensor is truly insane for a 12 year old camera. The CCD colors take me back to the very first digital camera I used in 2002. The reds and greens in particular are insanely rich. It's far from the most convenient camera I have, but there's something very appealing about a hunk of brass with only a handful of buttons on it.
Chris you hit it right on the nose. It’s about giving the camera the light it wants. Ive noticed the difference in the reds, greens and blues for sure. It still gives off this texture that makes it feel like a image taken with a film camera
i am loving your use of colour. i tend to use it as my “poor man’s monochrom” - and love the b&w. definitely may look into getting the filter for colour. edit: and echoing the other comments - amazing shots!
Amazing work, Marcus! I've been on the fence for the past 2 weeks about trading in my M8 kit for an M240. I want to switch over to the full frame so bad but thinking about the CCD sensor keeps stopping me. Your work definitely showcases what the M8 is truly capable of! Not sure what I'll decide - but if you keep posting more of you work, I'll probably stick to the M8.
Nice work. I think if you treat it as a film camera loaded with iso 400 film then it can work very well. I’m thinking of getting one after considering newer digital Leicas. It wouldn’t be my only camera.
I admire your eye for composition and color. I started with the Q, but, as Thorsten von Overgaard says, it is a gateway drug, and soon I had the M-8, which I love and appreciate for the same reasons you do.
Excellent video I’ve been shooting M8 since 2009 50mm sumicron v5 Only black & white It’s a slow thinking process Manual focus Basic settings But for street journalism it’s excellent..
Same low light issues here with my m-p240… but… I start to believe it is a sign from the camera gods: “do not shoot early in the morning or late in the night. You have our permission to be lazy” 😉
You are very talented. I have an M8 and I can't take photos like yours. I'm inspired to practice more. What camera strap are you using, by the way? It's beautiful.
amazing man! If Leica aint jumping at the opportunity to have you on there team IDK what is going on! HA would love to see what you could do with a Fuji X100V. May I ask what your using you film your videos now a days?
Nice video and pictures !! Thanx for sharing your experience ! Are you editing a lot your DNG M8's files into Lightroom ? Or just fine-tuning expo/contrast/WB ?
Wow that first photo 😍
Thanks bro….might be my fav photo with the m8 so far
the photos you've dropped from this camera are stunning! Makes me want to simply shoot
Thanks brother…thats the feeling I’m hoping to get from peeps
Awesome images, you really have an eye. Great colors. Love the red drink by the pool, such contrast.
Thanks for always supporting Mike
CCD sensors hold a special place in my heart. These images really showcase what a CCD sensor is capable of. Beautiful work, as usual.
Colors are beautiful
Thanks brother, that sensor has gained so much respect in my eyes. Can’t wait to travel more with it
Great photos. Great video. Do another on the m8.
Macus, these photos are just beautiful.
Appreciate that Dan!
Great info, great photos!
Thanks Dave

Mike thanks for stopping by the channel brother. I gotta admit the Q will still be my first choice but that sweet cmos is such a nice film alternative
@@MarcusLloyd I ended up getting a Q2. Showed up yesterday. What a little chunk of metal and glass :-)

Always thought the ccd was all hype, but your image’s colors definitely stand out. Beautiful work.
It’s so unique in the look and requires next to zero editing. I’m truly impressed by this sensor
Got mine yesterday and im not even sure what’ll happen with my Q2 now. The texture is sublime.
Haha the Q2 will still have a place for you
Very nice and lovely soundtrack 🙂
Thanks Frank!
Great video. Love your images.

I’m actually really excited to shoot b&w without the filter.
I'm trying to make up my mind between the m8 and m9 ..... decisions decisions !!! ( thank you for the great video !)
What did you get?
Nice pictures! Looks like a good camera.
Very enjoyable Marcus. Sold my D-Lux 7, looking to get an M-8 for BW street photography.
Really enjoyed your video. You definitely make me want to pull the trigger on an M8 now!
Get it bro. Lol
Great photos. It's surprising that you can get such good images from an M8,
Beautiful photographs.
The M8 and M9-P are my daily drivers. No complaints so far.
I love to hear that
You make excellent photos!
I really appreciate that
These images have a lot of character man, love them! Great work

Good stuff. I’m using an M8 for the same reasons (film feel without the expenses). I may have missed it, but you’re shooting JPEG??
I have used it with out the ir filter for a long time before getting the filter but glad you like the camera.
It is a lovely piece of equipment
I honestly think you can get away with it tbh
Amazing... 🔥🔥🔥

Great review, compact and spot on. Love the photos and the colors. How much did you tweak in post if you don't mind asking?
The best part is that I barely do any tweaking
You are very talented. I have an M8 and I can't take photos like yours. I'm inspired to practice more. What camera strap are you using, by the way? It's beautiful.
Hey there. Nice video! And your pictures look amazing! Are you using the first or second version of the VOIGTLÄNDER 28mm?
so explain to me what the whole IR hysteria is about? do i need to use a filter with my 8.2? what filter? explain please?
You should try some B&W pictures with your M8
Ive done it once but i should def do it more often
Beautiful pictures, nice review, love the feel to the video. I’ll have one subscription please !
Bless up!

Nice video and pictures !! Thanx for sharing your experience ! Are you editing a lot your DNG M8's files into Lightroom ? Or just fine-tuning expo/contrast/WB ?
Literallly just fine tuning
Just fine tuning in camera?
@@fujixleica97 in Lightroom
You gotta post a Lightroom edit tutorial because these colors or so natural but still hits, i don’t know how to explain lol
Hi Marcus fantastiskt what lens dig u have
I have the 28/f2 voigtlander ultron
Another endless role of Kodachrome 😁
The gift that keeps on giving
Do you shoot with the UV/IR filter on? Preferences?
Yep I sure do. I have the ice filter from adorama
Hi, have you ever owned/ shot a m typ240??
Never but heard good things from homies
biggest problem is the BANDING issue. You WILL get horizontal lines in this camera eventually. All have been affected. There is no fix.
Hi.. do you use the output jpeg? do you have to color grade your raw?
I color grade the raw files but very little
M8 Zine?? :)
There's a reason why people keep it. I sold my M9, but kept the M8. Special.
Facts
Which lens you use with M8?
28mm voigtlander ultron
