Honestly, could have fooled me. Both look amazing and if you swapped the labels I wouldn't be able to call out the specific attributes or strengths of each camera like dynamic range, sharpness, etc.

Such a cool video with great shots. Colors are amazing. I had a one week street photography in Washington DC back last month (June 2024). I took with me my Leica M11P and the Summilux 50mm F1.4 the new version with closer focusing, along with other Voigtländer lenses covering focal lengths of 21mm 35mm 50. (APO Lanther) and 75mm. This is the best camera for street photography period. And the 50mm focal length is my all time favorite one. Many thanks for such inspiring videos.

Great Video, but the m10 is not as bad as everybody thinks. Comparing both pictures without knowing which one is which might be interesting. I own both and love the m8 for its mechanical feeling but i think i sell it and keep the m10.

Great video. I shoot for years mostly with the 50mm lux, so can definitely recommend it, I could live with only this lens. I find the combination with the 28 summarit (for architecture) and the 90mm cron (people and automotive) ideal. 35mm lux I hardly use anymore. Don’t know why but overall your M8 pictures have something magical which this M11 doesn’t provide. Maybe it’s the time of the day, maybe it’s in post. Interesting 🤔

People can say what they want about Leica. I know the M11 certainly has its issues (many of them), there's the prices, the maintenance requiring the camera being sent back to Germany, etc...BUT, Leica is pretty much the only one I see (Pentax to an extent, as well) in 2024 that's making cameras and lenses that give proper rendering to the photos and look natural. Whereas pretty much all of the other brands look more software induced and look way off with how over sharpened and flat the images look. There's certainly no snobbery involved when saying Leica IS the king of photographic brands. Love the pics and the video, thanks for sharing it with us!

4:16 I'll never understand why some photographers are so against using LCD screens to compose their photos, especially when they acknolwedge that the LCD screen sometimes makes it easier to get the photo they want. First of all, when you look at a photo, it's impossible to tell if a photographer used a viewfinder or LCD screen so why does it matter? Second,, I'm willing to bet that at least some of the legendary photographers of the past would have fully embraced the benefits that an LCD screen provides.

Great video stunning shots man! Since you are a long term M8 and M10 shooter, would you say the M11 is more clinical like the M10 regarding image characteristics? Did you have the chance to use the M 240? Seems like a lot of people prefer the M 240 film like colours more, although it's a CMOS sensor (dynamic range in the middle of the M8/M9 and the M10). Keep up the great work and curious which 50mm Summilux you will end up (latest version with close focusing or previous version).

Great stuff!!! always great to see what you've been up to. I have to squirrel away some time to get to BK to shoot. I use the 50 and the 35 on my MP... the M11 is next... might be a while though.

Try the Leica 50mm Summicron v5. It is an excellent lens optically, smaller, lighter, and more affordable than the 50mm Summilux ASPH. Ergonomically I like to have a focus tab on my lenses to get matching handling. The 50 Cron doesn't come with a tab, but it is easily added.

Really nice photos! I’m still envious of the nice light you get there when it filters through the trees. Is there sunshine often there? It’s rare here. Long lenses are amazing! For me 50mm is where its start feeling wide, but it’s still a fun focal length. It’s just so fun to have a long focal length because it makes it easier to exclude things from your frame that would otherwise be distracting.

I've found an M8 with only 987 actuations. It's being sold by a known and respected authorized Leica dealer. Is this a good purchase in 2024? I own the M3, M7, M9M, M11, R6.2, R9, and the SL2-S.
