    Help me out with a like and a comment on this video, thanks folks! Primo is a really nice sounding amp sim by APFX Audio which has been available as a paid plugin on desktop for a while, and now just got released for iPad. The amp sim used neural networks (AI) to emulate the sound of a ‘boutique Italian tube amp’. I really can’t believe the iPad version is free. The reviews so far from hardcore electric guitarists who own every amp sim out are very positive, with all saying this compares well with even very expensive amp sims. In this video I walk through through the main features and give a quick review. I don’t cover everything in detail, it’s more a UI overview, but you can check out the manual linked below for more.
    The iPad version is an AUv3 plugin, so can be used in hosts like Garagebandm AUM, Logic Pro for iPad, etc.

    The synth app I used here for the input signal is Fundamental 2. I have various videos on this app - always worth taking a look through the channel archives! You'll find my detailed spoken walkthrough of Fundamental version 1 here:

    🟪 Please read this:
    I spend a huge amount of time on this channel, which is too niche to ever make any kind of fair remuneration from UA-cam. If you are a fan of my work and have the means, please join my merry band of Patreon supporters! The lowest tier only costs about the same as a pint of beer or a large coffee per month. Financial support from the community is the only chance there is of me being able to continue doing this valuable work, so I want to say a huge thank you to paying supporters!
    I have giveaways (on the upper tier these also include desktop plugin giveaways), exclusive vids, preset packs, samples, field recordings, AUM sessions, etc., on my Patreon. You can get a warm glow from supporting me while getting nice things in return. Currently, everyone who is a member is receiving far more in terms of free apps from giveaways than they are spending in monthly subscription, so it is really a no-brainer.

    One-off donations are also gratefully received. Donations and Patreon memberships are really the only chance I have of getting compensated fairly for my work here, so I really appreciate donations:

    Thanks for introducing me to this fantastic app. Every time I watch your videos my IQ increases. Keep up the awesome work. I just turned 66 years old, and played guitar in rock bands for most of my life. About 5 years ago I just lost interest in music. Then comes along the Ipad, which opened a world of musical possibilities. I went from novice 6 months ago to creating on an average two songs a day. And I thank you and the many of the other incredible content creators who show their passion for music. Sorry for rambling, but this has had a profound effect on my life.

    Always appreciate your tutorials. One thing this app has is feedback for sure, at least that’s all I hear. Anyone else hear any of the settings???

      Yeah, I mean I don't know my distortion the way those tone hunter electric guitarists do, but it defintiely sounds good to my ears even comparing against top shelf stuff

    What are the samples you are using? Great to hear something other than the typical riffing that people demo with.

      Thanks! I'm not using samples, I'm using a variation of a patch that I made for the synth 'Fundamental 2'

    All I hear is feedback fading in and out the entire video. None of your other videos are doing this right now…

    still the best sounding amp sim on any platform is Amp One, also free and nobody is talking about…. and is ancient too… I have yet to find anything comparable.

      That’s not AUv3, is it? I personally don’t have a problem at all with IAA or even standalone apps, if they are unique enough. But the reality is that it is an issue for many people. Also, unfortunately, in this space people tend to be obsessed with novelty.

    • @trancemuter
      @trancemuter 7 місяців тому

      yeah, it’s IAA… it’s a very simple app but sounds amazing… you can use it in AUM for the amp sim and build up an amazing sounding effect chain. I never seen it reviewed ever. It’s made by Mercurial and iit’s very good, I think people should know about it.

      @DP_Gumby 7 місяців тому +1

      Thanks for the tip! Just standalone but if you just need an amp...

    • @trancemuter
      @trancemuter 7 місяців тому

      simplicity is sometimes! few great amps, good basic fxs, no rotary dials interface! :) super easy to adjust, I have full editions of most big name brands like Biasfx 2 but I ended up with this as my amp and I use AUM for building an fxs chain, I use some nembrini and a bunch of other plugins, can be automated with bluetooth pedal, etc, the most compact guitar rig that sounds good ever :)
