Also, for those who may wonder, the ACtion 5 Pro can withstand being removed from a vehicle at 70mph and hitting the pavement, tumbling to a stop. IT never lost connection with the app. Unfortunately, I stopped recording 10 seconds before that happened. As a side note, remember to clean your windshield before applying a suction cup, even if it looked clean.
@@PhilipBlank Yes, that is absolutely the correct way. I didn’t have a 2nd connection available or with me. But, after that, the usbC cable became the tether. The interesting thing was the camera did not separate from the suction mount. That little clamp/magnet mount is strong!
Yes, you can definitely see the improved colors on the new firmware - it’s like there’s a purple tint on the old one. For comparing finer details in the video, it’d be ideal to mount the camera on the drone and fly through foliage or snow, but even in this footage, the new firmware is the clear winner. Hopefully, DJI releases a similar update for the Air 3s.
I bought the 5 pro in part after watching one of your review videos. It was one of the few that gave helpful info not just to sell. I still have the original firmware but I've been very happy even in low light. I agree the new firmware looks better especially the colors. I will be updating firmware soon. Thanks for the content!
Same Same. The original firmware was already great, I feel that DJI just gave into peer pressure and dropped a high bitrate to shut everyone up, I still use the standard bitrate to save space, no one will ever notice. I would like to see them swallow their pride with the 13.5 stops of dynamic range and give us the option to turn off HDR for a more natural looking image, that I would welcome.
Thank you for ALL your videos. I have been debating if I should switch from GoPro to DJI... You are very thorough and specific with the comparisons.. Work my friend. Keep up the good job
I believe the OA5 would be improved if HDR wasn’t enabled by default. HDR tends to work best at sunrise or sunset, rather than under cloudy conditions. What are your thoughts?

you definitely can but I would only recommend using one when the camera is stationary. ND filters tend to mess up the stabilization when you are moving

Supposedly better battery life, an altimeter and overlays from Garmin measurements on the 5 do sound interesting though. Could you tell how the 4 and 5 stack up in image quality and battery life after the update with higher bitrates? @JakeSloan thanks for the quick response. Do you notice a real-world difference in battery life? For day long mountain (bike) trips this could make a difference.
Massive difference, makes it harder to choose what to go for now for me Ace pro 2 or action 5 pro? @@StephenAbroad - Are you suggesting that the upgrade wasn't worth the money? What about the LOG profile and 10-bit color? Is there no difference from Cinelike D at 8 Bit? I'm considering upgrading my 4 camera a Osmo Action 1 setup.
I love this kind of setup to compare different cameras. I‘d be thrilled if you could offer such a comparison between a couple of full frame cameras. The Nikon Z8 looks to be very capable. No other camera offers 8.6K oversampled 4K60p. Downsampling an 8K picture to 4K with 60fps gives you incredibly detailed videos but I’d be curious to see how this 8.6K extended oversampled 4K60p in the Nikon Z8 and Z9 compares to the upcoming Sony a1 II or perhaps the Canon R5 Mark II. I haven’t used 8K much but it could be useful for cropping and rearranging shots in post so a side by side 8K video comparison might also be interesting. I wonder if the rumored DJI Mavic 4 (Pro) will have a new main sensor capable of 8K60p recording or if they’ll stick with 20MP and 5.1K50p recording.
@@JakeSloan I know it’s probably simply too much work to put together a comparison of so many different cameras but I feel like the Nikon Z8 is so underrated especially when it comes to video features. That’s a lot of data to process but I hope the Sony a1 II will offer full sensor readout 8K oversampled 4K60p as well. The Nikon Z8 also offers 8.6K60p internal compressed RAW recording + incredible RED LUTs to go with it. The 8.6K oversampled 4K60p (extended oversampling) is my favorite feature though. Even Canons newest R5 II only offers 4K Fine (8K oversampled) up to 30fps. 4K60p is line-skipped.
