Thank you! Yeah my hero 12 didn’t have any issues unless I ran it in 5k….however the DJI didn’t seem to have any sort of overheating issues and it seemed like you can run it for its full battery life with out it shutting down…it’s a really good option
Seems the random shutting down feature on the GoPro's is a known issue- My last GoPro, the hero 8 Black did this constantly. Never buy another GoPro product again!
Thanks scott, there is also the "HLG HDR" mode. This looks much brighter in dark lite situation outside of the water. Is there any reason not use HDR under water?
Great video! I just opened the box and setting mine up using your advice. Only thing I cannot find is how to slow it down to "50%". Did you do that in Adobe Lightroom or do I need to keep digging in the manual?
Thank you! Adobe Lightroom is for photos, you will need to slow your footage down in some sort of video editing app like adobe premiere or maybe even iMovie which I believe can be free
@@TRICK-OR-TREAT236 You should consider getting the Action 5, especially since it’s waterproof I just purchased one. However, the Pocket 3 is awesome as well, though it’s fragile if you’re not careful.
A underwater side by side comparison of the action 4 and action 5 pro would be cool, since the action 4 costs about 230€ and the action 5 about 360€ where i live.
What if I'm just like snorkeling depth, is there much difference with OS4 and OS5? Which is more beginner friendly. I've never had action camera before but would want to capture some underwater moments on my next snorkeling activity. 😅
Thank you for your reviews. I'm having a difficult time deciding on which underwater camera to get...I need the best camera for indoor and outdoor pool underwater video of my exercise demonstrations. Which one do you recommend or are they all fairly similar?
They are all pretty good, I honestly don’t think that you can go wrong…DJI 5 and insta360 ace 2 both have amazing battery life if you are doing longer workouts and don’t want to mess with changing out the battery
Yeah that is a great question, I think the battery life on the action 5 is great, if that is an issue for you then maybe consider the upgrade. The footage also looks great and it seems like the action 5 has less of a tendency to be biased towards a green or purple tinted color when it does it’s auto WB…I really like the 5 but your 4 is not bad either
@@scottbauerbelow thanks for the info, I find the battery to not be so great specially when recording in 4k 60P. I have had to recharge it in between dives.
@Fishycomics mentioned the C-type door was loose. It opens when you push it without pressing the button. The same thing happened on my dji 5. Do you also have such a problem?
Hi! I have not noticed that issue on the DJI 5. However I did notice that issue on the 4….i would recommend just using it with the cage when you take it into the water and the cage should prevent it from coming unsealed
It should be possible. I've seen some freedivers do it; there should be an option for it in the app, under the section for data overlays. Unfortunately, this only works without a case up to 20m, and that's not very deep for a freediver.
@@scottbauerbelow You can put the depth gauge using DJI mimo app on your phone. Using the dashboard and choose diving. You can even import your Garmin dive computer's FIT data to show it in a video. However, I only find it available through the app, hopefully we can put it on PC somehow
@@suntzuthesecond You can import your Apple or Garmin dive computer's FIT data in the app, so a deeper data might be possible. I haven't go deeper than 20 meters though so couldn't test
hi man and thanks a lot for the video. It made me decide to get the camera. What is exactly that mount that you have fitted to your mask? I can't find a diving mask mount on the DJI website. Do you mind sharing it?
Nice video! I have been frustrated with the radical white balance shifts as well. have you figured out a workaround? I've been considering just setting a manual WB.
Thank you! I have not unfortunately. Like you, I have thought about setting a manual WB but that would only be effective if you plan on remaining at the same depth throughout your entire dive…
Thanks for the content! Was the GoPro's going in the trash a subliminal message that the Action 5 is better? Your video footage using the GoPro looked pretty good in your other video. I know that both are good cams- but who has the edge with video quality?
lol, no I was just joking….i actually like the hero 12 the best to be honest but they are all very close. I’m also looking forward to trying the insta360 Acepro 2 which will probably be the next video
Wow, stunning shots! Did you install the latest firmware from a week or so ago? I have been using the 0A5 on my last few kayaking fishing trips and have been impressed especially with the super night mode.
@Fishycomics mentioned the C-type door was loose. It opens when you push it without pressing the button. The same thing happened on my dji 5. Do you also have such a problem?
Nice video.. I assume if u use the scuba casing the camera does not know its depth and defeats the purpose of the awb . Anyone tried it deeper than 60 ft without the case?
Yeah I was wondering the same thing, I’ll have to try it out on my next dive trip to see how well the auto WB works inside of the dive housing when the depth gauge is not engaged…but to answer your question, the depth gauge will not work inside the housing and the WB will be functioning normally
Looks like an OW dive camera and not an AOW camera lol … I’m just wondering if anyone has been brave enough to take this camera to 100-110ft without the case … if no failures at that point despite the printed depth limit then I think we are good!
I know this is an oddball- but I’m 6 dives into the new world underwater and I understand I have to log 25 dives to then approach spring lake in San Marcos-> I’m an hour north of it and I’d love to have the opportunity to make it a regular dive spot-> I guess what I’m asking is, where may I go about finding the information for approaching the group that regulates the divers there? Is it an invite only basis, I’m just curious by nature, appreciative of your time and this beautiful footage! Keep up the beautiful work and have safe dives🙌🏻
Great question! Visit the website for “the meadows center for water and the environment” and look up a course called the “diver authorization course” or the DAC. Once you take that class you can dive in Spring Lake as much as you like…Hope to see you there!
Great review thank you! I'm wondering how often does the auto white balance change between warm and cool? I thought this would only happen when you're changing depth by a lot, but it seems to happen at 6:28 even though you were pretty steady? I believe some reviewers also raised this issue with the OA4, so does that mean nothing has improved with OA5?
I think the battery life on the OS5 is enough of a jump in performance on its own to justify it…I like the way the WB performs better on the OS5 as well
Yeah if you are diving saltwater I would recommend the housing. The depth gauge won’t work if you do so but that’s not a critical feature, I just wanted to try it out for the sake of the video

Thanks for the great review. I was looking for info on the camera, but came away with the impression that you guys are great divers! Keep it up.
What a great review. Thank you ☺️

Why is the connection with DJI MIMO disconnected when I want to take pictures from outside by just putting the camera in water?
Great color purity and withstands 60 feet without an amazing case
I really like it so far
What mask mount are you using for the case?
I am hand holding the camera as it is attached to a video tray
