Reliability isn't a big deal anymore when you're cross shopping against cars that are the same price. Toyota and Honda are also reliable. And you'll get a better engine and more luxury etc. Is Mazda awful? No. But it has some competition and it will still struggle since it gets lumped with Toyota and Honda and they'll usually have more access to dealerships, promotions, cost effectiveness etc. Mazda is priced decently. But for a little bit more you can have a much better car. So they're in a very odd spot in my opinion.
Just bought one of these a week ago. I’ve owned several Mazdas and it’s because they’re incredibly reliable, amazing to drive, and they look better than anything in their price range. I used to have a Lexus IS 250 in my single days and the cx50 is the only car I’ve owned since then that feels more luxurious than the Lexus.
