Thanks for the tip on pulling the buttons up, older toilets I've seen come off by unscrewing the button housing. Once they were up, the screw was obvious. I appreciate you sharing your knowledge :)
That was a huge help. Made it so easy to just pop the buttons out and undo the screw. cheers.
No problem.
Thank you! New place has a loo like this and it has been making trickling noises for weeks! Finally fixed it. Thanks again
No problem John.
It might be useful if you actually showed how to remove cistern lid
Another dereton video saves the day. Appreciate the upload.
Glad to help!
Thanks for this! Couldn't work out what was holding the lid on until I watched this, and now I've taken it off and stopped the tank draining. Saved me at least £50 on a plumber, I'd say!
That`s great.
push button toilet lid
Thanks for posting this very helpful video. I had no idea how to remove the lid on my Ideal Standard cistern until I watched you do it.
No problem.
Thanks, did it within a couple minutes of watching the first minute of this! Have a good day 👍
No problem Tim.
You don't actually show us how you remove the buttons.. which is the whole bloody point isn't it?
Giulio - they pop out gently with a screwdriver
The flush buttons just pull up. Then there's a white plastic screw that you undo. An that's it, should be able to lift lid.
On my old one the whole round bit unscrewed and then the lid could come off. On my new one the buttons pop out and there is a giant screw underneath that holds the lid down.
Exactly what I was going to say!
Really exasperating!
Ha ha ha soo funny 😄
This was a life saver thank you.
No problem.
six years on and this video is still useful. Thanks. For those who like me did not realise, push one button down, and, with a small screw driver, lever it under the other button and lift it up and out. Now you can remove the remaining button with your fingers, and use a screw driver to undo the plastic screw that holds the lid on!
Not much changes in plumbing
Also known as "what this video was supposed to be about, but isn't"
Make it 8 years champ! Thanks
Great advice, got me looking in the right spots. My system was a little bit different, if I lifted one of the 2x button there was a small indent/slot on the inside of each botton. Just pinched it firmly and lifted the button out, do the same for the other button. Then I could see the screw on the inside of the cavity, after unscrewing it and removing the plastic chrome cylinder the lid just lifted off.
You are a life saver
I think mine will be the same. Thats given me hope.
Thank you. You saved us hours of failed fiddling!
No problem Saul.
Thank you so much.
I was very helpful.
It’s easy when you know how and you know how. Thanks mate.
No problem 👍
It's been years that ours hasn't been flushing properly but I could never lift the lid without forcing it so I stopped. I can only hope I find screws when I look. Thanks again, this gives me hope i can finally fix it.
No problem 😊
Just helped me fix my toilet in a matter of minutes. Thanks for the help!
No problem.
Thanks champion this helped me heaps!
No problem!
saved the day thanks
Thanks mate very helpful!
No problem Matt.
In Spain we have the pull type flush only thing is it stays elevated just a little so the flush stays running when you walk away.
Great video! I have been wondering for a while now how to remove the lid off the cistern when the push button is fixed, this helped me to do it in a few minutes. Thank you!
No problem.
Great i remember now only do it once easy to foget thanks for refresher
This helped, I got my buttons out and fixed the toilet. Thanks
No problem.
Thank you for helping.
No problem.
Thanks mate, you saved my arse.

No problem.
Thank you so much. A toilet that didn't flush at 11pm on a Friday night - sorted within 30 mins with your help.
No problem Vanessa.
These things are fricking awful. Can't stand them. Thanks for this tutorial, it really helped.
No problem.
Thanks sir it solve my problem
Most welcome
How did you unscrew the top?? In your video it's just 'suddenly' unscrewed??
Turn the chrome ring.
Thank you for the video. Can someone explain how the flush works on these toilets. There are 2 buttons. Which is short and which is long? Can I press both together? Can I press and hold?
Depends which way around the buttons were configured, you can push them both togethe,r hold down and you will get the full flush.
Cheers mate :)
No problem,
Your a star 😊
Ha ha thanks Shelley.
LEGEND!
Thanks.
Thank u so muchh!!
No problem
Thank you Sir!
Hello. I have the exact same flush tank having the simple push buttons. I dropped the ceramic cistern lid which has gone to pieces. Can someone tell me the brand name and model number so that I can look for a replacement?
Sorry there are just so many.
Good video but mine only has one button? How do I get that out?
It should unscrew.
+dereton33 OK thankyou
I will give it a go
My buttons come off but the stalks are fixed and the plastic round housing has no groove so you can not get a screw driver in. So can not see a why to get the lid off!
Use a knife under the chrome ring, once you get enough gap then use a screwdriver.
I ain’t the smartest in the bunch but u skipped the whole part of takin it off lol🤣. Went straight from A to Z
Ill try harder next time, now what comes after A
Bring back the flush handle, Al, I can't stand these push button thingies.
johnnybrew1 You and me both. Arhhhh..
i have only one button
TheHrebo l
mine is taking about 5 mins to fill up
I hoped to see the magic trick from 0:50 to 0:51. That's the part I don't get.
I could though lift the lid just enough to turn the it 90 degree to be able to get to the calcified area that prevented new water to flow.
So I'm all good :-)
Great.
On mine you have to twist the whole button to unscrew it
Great
if you got a plumper out to do this, they would charge you $100 call out fee plus $50 labor.
The bit I needed to see was removing the button, Duh
O well sorry janet.. I will try harder next time.
Where is the screw?
+Wesley Webb This particular lid did not have a screw.
I just yanked it off and heard it snap so I just put it back and bailed
Came off in me hand guv.
I’m still not sure how to get the buttons out. You kept mentioning two little screws but didn’t show any. 🤷♀️🤷♀️🤷♀️
Pull the plastic button tops away they are under there.
you did not show most crucial point to remove the two buttons
Just pull the large one off there is a screw there
boys i just smacked my toilet lid and it started working again maybe try it
don't see the point as you don't show what you say you are going to show... missing a few parts
