Can anyone help? We've recently changed to dual flush cisterns. (basic ones from B&Q) The upstairs one works fine but with the downstairs one we have to hold the button down 'til it's finished flushing. We've tried lifting the lid and comparing it with the upstairs one which flushes when you press the button then let go, but downstairs one still won't flush, unless you hold the button down. Both WCs were fitted by a qualified plumber. Any help would be appreciated.

Lift the lid off and you will see 2 black things that look like screws. One has a red collar the other blue. You can lengthen or shorten them by turning them. The problem with mine was the ‘screws’ weren’t reaching the plunger when I pushed the button on top of the cistern unless it was held down. I lengthened both of them and it worked. I push the button on top of the cistern and let go, now it flushes without having to hold the button down. Hope this helps.

Hi Liza, have just looked inside the cistern lid. One ‘screw’ is blue one is black, no coloured collars on mine. Turn each screw until it becomes longer and try flushing. It worked for me. Let me know how it goes.

Thank you for the clear instruction. I am so proud of myself, after watching a couple of your videos I was confident enough to take out the faulty part, got a replacement from the plumbers, and put it all back together!!! Thank you for saving me a callout charge 🙏

i got the later style dual flush one that isnt screwed omto the cistern lid ,but everytime itll do a big flush never a small flush only so both seem to go down regardless how to place the cistern lid on or the button degree,i think its just a fiddly design
