DIY Guru... you've just saved me £120 - thank you so much, I work for a hospice and dont earn much money. This fix has really helped me out. Your instructions are perfect I did everything you said and my running toilet is fixed ❤. Good luck with your channel, you deserve all your subs and more.
Sorted a job I'd been putting off for weeks in 5 mins. Could have saved myself all those late night trips to the downstairs loo. Thanks a lot for making this 👍
Thanks for this. It really helped. A few points which may help others: 1. My lid just lifted off - no need to remove the push buttons. 2. The cartridge twisted off, no clips holding it in. 3. The washer was worn and despite trying many plumbing stores, I couldn't find a match (or a direct replacement cartridge). 4. I DID manage to turn the washer over and it's not leaking - for now. I think a full replacement will be needed.
I didn't realise some of the units had lugs on them on the side that you just press in to release it. Your video has saved me a lot of bother. Many thanks
This is the 2nd video of yours that has really helped me out (your guide on installing an external tap is great). I bought a replacement seal, which didn’t help, then bought a replacement flush valve and found this video as I needed help getting the cistern off. All it needed was a rough sponge around the outlet to clear debris that I couldn’t see and it’s sorted! 2 minutes of work was all that’s needed. Sometimes it’s worth checking the obvious things first! Luckily I didn’t open the packet for the flush valve so can return that to B&Q. You’re a legend.
Mate. Quality video. This has happened to my toilet and my next door neighbours one too. I thought I'd quickly UA-cam it before calling a plumber for is both. I appreciate it takes ages creating these videos, especially getting the right camera angle, let alone the editing afterwards. So many thanks for doing this. Much appreciated. You have another subscriber.
I've just learnt how to stop a running toilet, using the isolation screw. Thank you for helping, you made a huge difference to our day, week, month, year, thank you so much.
Great Video, i fixed my toilet today. Had to buy a new washer as it had blistered. Found the right sized one at the 3rd plumbers outlet visited. Thank you. 😁
Fantastic advice. I Didn't even need to unclip the flush unit just put my hand around the seal and found a large bit of plastic from one of those blue freshners. Fixed👍
Thank you so much. You have saved me hundreds of pounds. This problem just came out of nowhere in the middle of night, so I'm glad it is dealt with now. Again much appreciated.
Been turning water on/off every time we used loo for the past month and this is all it took? 2 min job & wish id found this video sooner. Many thanks for posting
Just wanted to say a big thank you chap. Had the cover from one of those toilet cleaning tabs stuck on the rim of the outlet where the washer is suppose to sit and seal the hole after you flush. Water trickling out constantly down the back of the toilet pan. Watched this video and 20 minutes later jobs done. Thanks!
As usual a very helpful guide and helped me get a simple job done. If I could help though by saying isolate the cistern and flush it before starting the work and when the procedure is done, before turning water back on, clean as much of the debris still in the bottom of the cistern and there should then be a long time before this happens again. Also look at which direction the small/big flush buttons are and install them the same way, a little mistake here. Great help though, many thanks.
Great video, I shared it with a family member, shee told me she has a constantly running toilet which I have yet to see. Might be an idea to tell people their are different types of generic flush units.
Thanks mate saved me calling up my dodgy landlord, my toilet was a little different, I had to screw off the silver flusher, lift up the marble lid, then the circular thing I has to screw off as the clips wouldn't un do, then I just pulled it out gave it a clean screwed it back on and presto, thank you geezer you got me feeling like a pro, thanks man I appreciate it 💪🏽
If the water was rising above the overflow and into the toilet you said it could possibly be a fill valve issue, how can this be fixed. Any help greatly appreciated.
Amazing amazing! Bit of a elimination game for me. Changed the bottom entry fill valve with the float bit on but was still dripping. Took the flush mechanism off like your video and the seal has turned to mush and now i have black rotten rubber all over ha. Ordering new seal now. The wife will be pleased
For months I've been wondering how you get the damn top off these cisterns compared to the old, one screw holds it, tops . . finally I can fix an annoying leak. Thank you for a clear video.
Thank you for that video! I think that's what is wrong with my toilet as I put toilet blocks in , I can't wait to finish work and go to fix it! 😅🤞I so hope it will help 🙏🏻🤞
Very useful video, I have this very issue with what looks like the very same flush unit. However! I seem to have made my problem worse… the seal does look like it has deteriorated slightly, although not too bad, and when I put it all back together the running water was a bit worse, Guess I need a new seal, but how do I know what to get? Cheers!
Lying in bed 11pm last night after 2 nights of ensuite toilet constantly dripping and refilling I found this. Jumped out of bed in my birthday suit, fixed in 5 mins and back in bed 😊
DIY Guy :What is the make and model of the flush mechanism shown in this video, as it looks very similar to mine. My local plumbers merchants say they don't stock this type. The retaining clip that you press to release the flush valve has snapped off, and the chrome push button is broken inside where the rods locate. I need to buy this model flush valve, and the push buttons with rods. Great video. Any help would be much appreciated.
I've just replaced an old toilet with a new one (first time I've done anything like this!) and have a slow trickle of water into the bowl. Is it likely to be this seal on a brand new unit? Or is it more likely an issue with how I have tightened the flush unit up with the nut on the outside of the cystern (on the bottom)? Thanks for the videos!
Simple easy advice. Subscribed & shared. One thing, could there be close ups of where tools go etc. Also when you removed the flush buttons your arm blocked the shot, would have benefitted from seeing it. Minor things. Great advice and will share!
Hi mate cheers for this as its fixed my toilet but now when i flush it its makes a droning noise coming from the pipes when filling back up you have any idea what it could be just bought the house cheers danny

Thank you. My septic sprinkler have been running twice per day for a few weeks due to this, so this is saving hundreds of gallons of water.

"you wont need any tools" immediately pulls out a flat head screwdriver
I didn't need any. I just let the water run while I cleaned the flush unit.
Ha ha brilliant 😂
Some toilets have a float which can be adjusted using finger nail. adjusts the cutoff water level
Worked for me 🎉 Top Lad thanks
