Thank you so ooo much. I racked up a $200 pound water bill as I was not aware I had an overflow problem. I fixed it with your help in less than 10 minutes!!! You are a hero!!!!!
That's brilliant to hear and what my channel is all about! Thanks for your comment 👍
Managed to fix the running toilet inbetween cooking the tea and getting my daughter ready for bed 😂! Thank you so much!
That's brilliant, I'm glad the video has helped you fix your toilet!
Thank you so much for this video! It saved me from having to call a plumber, I only had to buy a new rubber gasket and do about 10 minutes total of work!
That's brilliant to hear. Thanks for your comment 👍
Thanks Fowler. I didn't do what you said, your video made me realise my cistern was over filling so I've had a play with the arm that controls the water level and turned it until the water stopped coming out after a flush, then adjusted it up again. Now the water is going to the "fill line" on the back of the toilet.
Job sorted! That's a necklace and a toilet I've fixed today.
Oh a man of many talents 😀😀! Thanks for your comment!
Brilliant tut. Just what I needed and really detailed and simple. Cheers bud.
Great user name 🤣, thanks for your comment 👍

Hi, thanks for your comment 👍 hopefully you have fixed your running toilet now!
Super thankful
No problem, did you manage to fix you toilet?
Actually found a video with exact same fitting! Really helpful, followed it to the latter but still running a bit so off I go to Amazon for a replacement rubber seal but thank you, thank you! Fingers crossed.
Brilliant, hopefully you will get it sorted out!
Amazing thanks 🙏
No problem, I'm glad you liked the video 👍
What a great find !. 11pm here & just found I have this problem which I thought I had solved but when I replaced the plunger I found what it screws into is too far down & I thought tomorrow I would have to decouple the cistern again. But now because my mechanism is the same as yours I will just have to twist it & place the clips down lower.I can sleep easy then. Thanks & you now have a new sub.
Hi, hopefully this will fix your problem. If not, leave a comment, and i will try to help you fix it! P.s. Thanks for the sub
Update: Having removed the flush unit I couldn't adjust it so the buttons worked correctly so I brought so I brought another one. Well two actually as I ordered an additional one by mistake. Still if I live long enough I can always use it. The flush unit is Siamp Skipper 45. Without finding you video I would of spent hours decoupling the toilet unit so thanks once again. Ted
@2wheelsrbest327 no problem. I'm glad the video helped and saved you money!
Cheers lad very good video easy to follow
I'm glad you thought the video was good, and thanks for your comment!
Great video. I had a plumber tell me that i had to replace the valve (I have ordered for one already) but will leave that as a spare and clean up the rubber seal. Thank you
Hopefully, that will fix it and save you some money at the same time! Thanks for your comment 👍
Very helpful thanks
Glad it helped, thanks for your comment 👍
Very helpful cheers
Thanks for your comment 👍
Thanks
Thank you so much for your super thanks 😊 🙏
Thx much from toronto. I will try now
Toronto, that's amazing! Hopefully, this video will help you out!
Thanks mate... followed your advice to the letter (with the added hassle of needing a cable tie as one of my grey clips that holds the push button assembly at the required height was missing 🤔😓so the overflow assembly wasn't vertically aligned properly). Cleaned the parts, re-assembled (great advice about seating the gasket with a screwdriver, btw) and works like new, thankyou again😀
Hi, absolutely amazing! That's what my channel is all about, helping people save money! I'm glad the tip about seating the gasket helped, too. Hope you have subscribed as there are loads of good DIY videos on my channel!
Oh yeah I subscribed 👍and I'm looking forward to delving through your catalog of helpful vids, thanks again.
Cheers, i appreciate that!
Great video, very helpful. Is it just me or did anyone else think they saw water still running through the toilet cleaner at the end?
Definitely not mate, i had just flushed it prior to putting the cleaner in
Thanks for the great video, i have the same set up, but it fills really slowly
I have another video to fix that on my channel. It's normally the inlet valve
Thanks for the update and the way you explain things thanks once again for the efforts and for sharing this with us. You do deserve a very large danish beer in a good warm sommer day🤣👍🙏you save me money for that beer
Thanks for your comment, I will look forward to that beer 🍺 😀
How do you actually set the mechanism for a flush .. I've to hold my button
Thanks so much for the tip, I think mine (after looking finally getting in to my cistern) might have been because the last occupant put a "bowl fresh" thing in the cistern so going to say that made it overflow. I couldn't seem lift my flusher part out but i will replace everything and see how it going. Only slight suggestion I have for the video is a mic :) but otherwise thanks sooo much for the super helpful step by step guide!
I am trying to learn how to do things myself. I have been blessed enough to either have my dad or a partner do things for me and this partner isn't life experienced so he hasn't learned things so we are learning together
Thanks for your comment, i do indeed now have a mic, and it's made a big difference to the sound quality. Have a look at my other how-to videos as im sure there will be more to help you, and if you've not already, please consider subscribing 😁
@@FixitwithFowler I subscribed straight away haha .. I am Aussie and as proud as i am being Aussie you English annunciate more clearly. I am hoping that because of the last muppet putting that in the cistern fixes it if not I have a comment on here and subscribed so can come back easily
@princessjenwren6291 thanks for subscribing 👍 👍 👍
Thank you so much for this video ! the link for the washer was gone, can you tell me the washer size since there are many different types from Amazon, my flush system is the same as the video.
Hi, unfortunately I can't remember the make. If you find the make of yours, then you can order the right part or take it to the local plumbers merchants or screwfix, and I'm sure they can help you out!
Thanks buddy
No problem, let me know how you get on. It's a straightforward job to fix the toilet
Honestly i fixed it within 5 minutes.
Thank you so much,saved 100 bucks 🎉
Brilliant, that's what my channel is all about. Thanks for your comment 👍
Great video, can you please tell me how to remove the inlet valve if the problem is with this? Thanks
Look at my other how to fix a toilet video ua-cam.com/video/AOAfcrHCtOM/v-deo.html
Hi @FixitwithFowler - do you have a video on how to remove / repair the inlet valve for this system? The water doesn't stop filling and goes into the overflow / toilet after flushing. I've checked the flush valve seal and it's fine but I can't find a way to check the inlet valve and I'm not 100% sure what I need to check so that it stops the water continuing to run? Any help is much appreciated. Thanks
Hi, there is one on my channel. Just look through my videos. It's one of my first videos i did!
Cheers mate. Worked a treat 👍👌Subd
That's brilliant. Thanks for subscribing!
Thanks Steve, This fixed my problem. Can you identify the flush mechanism in this video please? The Amazon universal washers link is broken. Cheers
Thanks for letting me know about the link. Unfortunately I don't know the make of the flush mechanism
Super
Hope you found the toilet video useful 👍
Hi, this is the exact system I have, but my problem isn’t water leaking from the tank into bowl, but the inlet of water to the tank is taking too long to complete fill, and there’s like a small sprinkling of water from the contraption on the left hand side filling it up after flush, but I can’t unscrew the bolt thing. Are you able to advise or do a video? Thanks
I do have a video on a toilet not filling, that might help you out!
Hello. Great video. Our water seems to be spraying up from the section on the left of the unit (the part with the large plastic nut) do you have any videos on how to fix this?
Hi, yes, there is a video on how to replace the filler unit on my channel. ua-cam.com/video/84T2I7R4Irg/v-deo.htmlsi=zPkb7ubbhrnhYPKA
@@FixitwithFowler awesome thanks for your help! That link is back to the same video as above. Do you have the direct link by any chance?
@tmr204 sorry my fault! ua-cam.com/video/AOAfcrHCtOM/v-deo.htmlsi=T9d0a5YJeo_G8m6D
Good well presented & informative video 👍
Hi, thanks for your comment on How to Fix a Running toilet video. I'm glad you liked it and found it informative.
Great video (Mr) Fowler., helped a lot.. or is that your first name..? ; )
Hi, yes, that's my surname! Glad the video helped you out. Dont forget to give the video a 👍 and subscribe for more useful videos!
Great video I have exact same unit but I'm not not cleat what do with the tabs to release the unit. Do i need to pull them out somehow as I turn it? I've tried just turning it but it is not moving and don't want to force it.
Hi, you only need to turn the unit to release it. There are tabs on the side of the unit, but these are just for adjusting the flush levels.
Hi thanks for the tip I got it out eventually now just to wait fro a replacement washer to turn up in the post as no local plumbers merchants have one @@FixitwithFowler
No problem, mate. im glad you have got it sorted. If you're struggling for the washer, i think there is a link in the video description to them!
Hi were can I get a new unit for the flush one of the side is broken please
There are links in the video description 🙂
When I put my as you would call it plunger back in it does not push back up it stays down. So when I go to flush I can't push down is there away to fix that or is it just broke ? Hope you can help me
Unfortunately it sounds like its broke, however its hard to tell without seeing it!
I got same flush
I mesh up balance stick which not fixed properly
I want to fix valve but with whole instruction
I have another toilet video on my channel which may help
Helpful video! Also gotta say, I didn't expect a handyman to also have really fucking funny transitions (5:31) LMAO
Ha, I'm glad you liked it 😄. I would really appreciate you liking 👍 the video and subscribing. Thanks
Thanks Sir. Can you tell me the company name of the make of the system in which the rubber valve was fitted ?
Hi, unfortunately, i dont know the make of the flush valve. However, there are links to products in the video description if that helps.
I think it is a SIAMP, its the same as mine.
Thanks for your comment 👍
@@FixitwithFowler i watched your video and learned to remove the main body, the rubber has degraded so bad it is full of small holes lol, now i can await the replacement and four the new one. Although it's arriving tomorrow via Amazon lol, thanks Fowler!
@jrsc01. No problem, I'm glad the video has helped, and thanks for your comment 👍
Hi, I have the exact one in the video, can you tell me what model it is ?
does the replacement in the description above have the lugs to locate the system back in place ?
Hi, unfortunately, i don't know the model. I just cleaned the flush valve washer, and that was the job done. There isn't really any need to replace the whole unit. There are links in the description for the washers.
I have changed the washer but still gettung the problem
@@FixitwithFowler
Have you cleaned the seat? Where the washer seals in the toilet?
yeah cleaned all around the area where the unit clips in and where washer sits@@FixitwithFowler
Oh right, have you checked that the basket (thats the part that is fixed to the bottom of the cistern) is tight and cant be moved. If this is loose it can let water pass and it will leak directly into the pan
I will try this later, what would we do if the water keeps flowing in the top and in the overflow bit, would that be a fault with the left hand side unit
Yes, the inlet valve on the left-hand side would just need adjusting. If you just lift that up, then that would fix it!
@@FixitwithFowler I’ve just tried bud think it’s no good tbh, I’ve adjusted it lower and it seems that the float thingy will push the rod up to close the valve but it keeps flowing 😵💫
Try looking at this video, it might help ua-cam.com/video/AOAfcrHCtOM/v-deo.html
@@FixitwithFowler yeah that’s the same one I have, thank you
No problem
How do I know how to position all the parts back i took the system out separately as I didn’t realise it all came out together . I fixed the seal but caused another problem
A bit late now, but whenever you are doing something you are unsure about, you should always take photos, and then you will have something to reference. It might be worth looking for the manufacturer, then you can Google and look at images. Maybe that will help?
I know I wish I had I’ll know next time I’ve found it on Amazon but not clear enough for me to copy . I was so pleased with myself when I fixed the seal never had to do any home maintenance before . I’ll look online for manufacturers . Thankyou
@angrysheep5498 no problem, hopefully you will get it sorted 👍
How do.
Why might this running only happen when half flush is used, but not when both are pushed, plse?
Have you tried replacing or cleaning the flush seal?
@@FixitwithFowler going to do that for starters. Will let you know.
Can you help? I took the flush unit out and an extra bottom bit came out too. I separated the bits and sorted the rubber bit and screwed the unit back in. The cistern now leaks from where I screwed it out! Put it back in3 times and still leaks. The rubber bit at the bottom looks ok and it’s not cross threaded. What should I do?😢
Hi, there should be a cradle in the bottom that the flush unit fits into. Is that secure or does it just turn?
Hey! I’ve screwed it in tight. I don’t understand why it’s leaking 😢
@HazelP-ho2gy it should only turn about 90° to lock into place
Thanks 😊
The rubber on mine is clean, it only runs when the lid is on?
It sounds like you need to adjust the rods on the push button.
I pulled my cistern lid off, not realising I had to loosen the button 🙄 Can this be fixed or will I have to buy another one? 🤦🏼♀️
Sorry for the late reply, you might be able to refit the lid and be ok.
I can’t turn my central part u turned? It has no clips? It won’t stop filling up and making a noise:( pls help
Do you have an isolator under the toilet?
My system is the opposite way round from yours. 😢
Hi, what do you mean the opposite way round?
The parts are the opposite side from yours. It keeps running. Does my head in. Lol
@75eleanor, it doesn't matter which side the filler is [ that's the part at the side]. The bit that matters is in the middle [the flush unit]. That's the part that you need to take out.
I can't even budge the screw to stop the water filling up. I'll get my bloke to have a go tomorrow. Lol
@75eleanor, you might need to adjust the filler instead. I have a video on how to replace the filler unit, that might be worth a look
Thanks
Thanks so much for your Super Thanks 😊. I'm glad the video helped
