Glad u did a video on this. I plan on doin a 38 gal tank conversion on mine. I got a 20 gal front, 10-13 gal rear so thats 30-33 gallons. The 38 gal tank would be an extra 5-8 gallin range

Under normal circumstances yeah, there would be a strainer; however those almost always break/rot off. The fuel pump (Electric pump) has its own strainer as well as the regular fuel filter. So no real need for parts to fail

Looks like I wouldn't be able to get to the top to hold the bolts to tighten them. 2) If I just remove the bed can I install the tank from the top and leave my hitch on?
1) Very carefully. I did some interesting stuff with a wrench to get it in. 2) Absolutely. To make things even better, a great time to clean and paint the frame, as well as paint/repair your leaf spring hangers.
Off the subject with the manuel pump i put a check value where the 90 is put 90 on value then fuel line stop fuel bleeding back but with the elec pump may not just help with frist start i work for a drilling company they had 20 of them any wsy just a thought
Nice, so im guessing you bypassed the entire Fuel Tank Selector Valve? Ive pulled mine apart multiple times. Im about to do this mod on my 89 F250 IDI. I struggled with that plastic fuel line ended up using a harbour frieght heat gun to get the nipple onto the line. I love this truck wish I had the money to give it some body love it deserves. Shes ate up with rust Ive got the Driver floor held up with hockey pucks and rubber door wedges and some sheet metal screwed in for now. Motor has under 90K though.
No, the black plastic piece that looks like a shower head fall apart after 5 years or so, when they do at about 1/4 tank the metal tube is unable to pick up fuel anymore and you "run out of fuel", just happened to me last night, put 5 gallons in and voila', running again without touching another thing.
@@Peter-V_00 I just took my tank out the other weekend to patch a hole with jb weld it worked but mines a different design no shower head just a sock maybe only some of em have the faucet

ive never seen just bare metal tube like that

Correct
I used 6AN fittings and Stainless Braided PTFE 3/8” fuel line for both the send/return lines.
Just eliminated a lot of headaches, etc

Made a new float rod with a piece of 3/32” brazing rod
About how much all this set up run you ?

@@Cherokee93 Sounds like a gas truck, as a rule the OBS diesels 100% use shower head type pickups.
