It’s actually confirmed in Utopia that the Doctor left Jack behind *because* he’s immortal.

While some people think the doctor doesn't like Jack, and I do think it is true that he doesn't PREFER him, here is something to think about - the doctor only ever let 2 people salute him - Wilf and Jack. And he saluted back to Jack

If they don't try to kill each other, the Doctor is still gonna have a hard time keeping Jack from flirting with his companions. Especially Clara and Ashildr because they're as impossible as he is.
@@lindildeev5721 I don't think The Doctor would try to kill Jack - though I think it's possible for him to accidentally kill him if Jack pulls a gun out of his *ss. I think 12 would've been nervous (because Jack is something he can't predict) and concerned (at why Jack's so p*ssed). As for the companions... I feel like he would've flirted with Clara, flirted with Ashildr for a little, and be buds with Bill :D

@@keirasalley6851 actually John Barrowman was born and raised in Scotland. He sounds Scottish. He affected an American accent when his family moved to the States and was bullied for sounding Scottish. In real life he can start a sentence in his American "accent" and finish it in his native one. Even Peri from Colin Bakers time was English but was told to sound like an American. Nope John Barrowman is Scottish.
Aaaw, you miss the scene where 10 goes to see Jack in a bar, before he regenerates, to slip him a note to say that the guy sitting next to him is named Alonso… I love that scene!

Ten and Jack's dynamic is intriguing to me. The version of Jack we meet in series 3 is a bit different to the one we meet in series 1, as this Jack knows what it's like to live too long as the only one of his kind, and therefore has some experience with the Doctor's special brand of loneliness. As a result of this along with their shared history, there's sort of a bond of understanding and respect between them that the Doctor doesn't really have with anyone else.
Still, I have to say this also shows off how much of a jerk the Doctor can be. He gets called out for just straight-up abandoning his friend and is absolutely cold as ice about it, simply because being around Jack... makes him uncomfortable. And we know for a fact that this isn't something the Doctor can't manage or overcome, since he offers to take Jack with him at the end of season 3 --- as, perhaps, his way of apologizing. Jack is very forgiving, I have to say.

When I saw that John Barrowman was a part of the Doctor Who universe, especially after watching Arrow, I thought, “Oh I guess he’s one of the very few Americans that have been in this series”
Then I saw he was part Scottish and then it all clicked. Yeah it took me forever until I started watching Doctor Who completely to find out that he is a Scottish-American actor
