Paul's point was simply that we ought not deck ourselves out in outward stuff, so that it distracts from the spiritual person inside. We are supposed to be focused on spiritual things, not on earthly stuff.

Thank you! My soul is much calm now. I was struggling and crying for 5 months finding out if I should braid my hair or not. I identify as a Ghanaian-American child (African-American) who has 4c hair that break and splits, the only way to keep my hair in place for a long time and make sure it's protected so I don't have to focus on it is to just braid it or twist it. I never liked color in my braids or having jewels on my braids. I like it plain and simple. Thank you so much again, and may God bless the god-fearing people upon Earth!
I had the same question too but then I realized (through reading the Bible and asking questions) that God made my hair a specific way. We should take care of the hair/body God gave us but we should also make sure we don’t obsess over our appearance. I also have 4c hair and braid it to maintain its health and to look presentable for many days. I only put jewelry in it for special occasions bc I believe it is appropriate during that time.

Cancer patients on chemotherapy are helped by those wigs, as with chemo you loose your hair everywhere. And their body image is affected, they want to look presentable in the physical world as much as we are Spiritual beings. We should not mix adornments with the Word of God.
Obviously nobody is talking about sick people or cancer patients.. A lot of black women are lazy to take care of their Godgiven hair😐💔 I know I was and I have gone natural + no makeup and it's so hard in this superficial world

No, the life of a Christian is to make sure our light shines (Matt. 5:16) and that Christ's life and example needs to be seen in us (Gal. 2:20). We are not interested in impressing people in the outward appearance (I Pet. 3), but in making sure the "heart" of a person (Christ) shines through. This is the point. Thanks for the good question.
keep braiding your hair and giving lame excuses.Has not God said i made you beautiful?Has not God said present yourself a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable unto Him? WHAT IS WRONG WITH THE WAY GOD MADE YOU?JUST THIS ONE DISOBEDIENCE CAN LEAD YOU TO HELL.
Wow... a lot of interest .. that's awesome! Having grown up in a church that took that particular scripture quite literally... (Even wearing a gold watch was a sin) I appreciate everyone's comments.. different perspectives are welcome .. :) I believe ... (I'm only giving my opinion) that it's referring to .. Don't let the outward person's attire or adornment be the "dipstick" whereby we measure his or her holiness.. I've known men and women who "dress" the part and are full of evil on the inside.. Jesus said it's not what goes in a person that defiles them but, rather, what comes out ... (Out of the heart...out of the mouth... actions) So, my little belief is ... moderation... in the middle.. modesty .. not too gaudy .. but certainly, braiding hair is not a sin .. neither is "wearing of apparel" (in the same scripture) ...if so (?) We would all be nudists LOL ... Good answer sir .. thanks for the video ..
Meaning do not let it be what defines your beauty. You can wear weave or jewelry, but where is your focus, where is your heart ? Is it on the Lord or on these things. Don’t take pleasure on those things, for they can bring distractions which can then lead you to the world.
Gen chapter 35:1 1And God said unto Jacob, Arise, go up to Bethel, and dwell there: and make there an altar unto God, that appeared unto thee when thou fleddest from the face of Esau thy brother. 2Then Jacob said unto his household, and to all that were with him, Put away the strange gods that are among you, and be clean, and change your garments: 3And let us arise, and go up to Bethel; and I will make there an altar unto God, who answered me in the day of my distress, and was with me in the way which I went. 4And they gave unto Jacob all the strange gods which were in their hand, and all their earrings which were in their ears; and Jacob hid them under the oak which was by Shechem.
@@7heLoveofGod hi! I believe the true question is why aren’t we satisfied with what God created? Would THE creator, the one who ultimately defines beauty, would he be content knowing that his creation whom he loves so much, the one he uniquely designed, all of a sudden decided they wanted to add or take away from what he completed and deemed beautiful and perfect in his sight? What does God say? Psalm 139: vs 14, I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well. AND Isaiah 55: vs 8-9 says For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord. “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts. Also, in the beginning God spoke the physical things of the world into existence; and although man was not spoken into existence rather we were created from the dust of the ground that was spoken into creation. Anything spoken by the most high is considered Gods word, do you agree? In Deuteronomy 4:2, God says you shall not add to the word which I command you, nor take from it, that you may keep the commandments of the Lord your God which I command you. If we are a result of Gods spoken word wouldn’t that mean that we should abide by his divine order and not add anything to ourselves OR take anything away?? God bless
It's about being subject to God. Like as Christ was obedient unto death leaving us an example that we should follow in his footsteps being subject to God and HIS will and not our own.

@@edwardrucker3162 King James Bible 1611 I Peter was talking to married women Chp3:1-6 Likewise wives, let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and wearing good, or putting on APPARELL-clothes, BUT let it be the hidden man of the heart, in which is not CORRUPTION, even the ornament of a MEEK and QUIET SPIRIT! So is it a sin to wear clothes also? The Most High was talking about vainity! Why would he tell you not to wear Gold and in Revelation he said was going to put rings on your fingers? He telling women to be modest and not over do it, worrying about the outward appearance only
How could some of you possibly understand that scripture to mean it’s a sin to braid your hair, is unbelievable. You don’t even need discernment to understand what that Scripture saying. Whose adorning let it not be THAT OUTWARD ADORNING OF 1) plaiting (arrangingof hair, trending styles) the hair 2) wearing of gold 3) putting on of apparel (fine & expensive clothes] If you’re understanding that scripture to tell you not to braid your hair then you also better understand that scripture is telling you not to put on clothes. Obviously the word is simply telling you to let your adorning be the hidden man of the heart in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit which is in the sight of God great price. 1 Peter 3:3-4 We all know there are people that are high into fashion and huge on adorning themselves with all kind of different styles and lots of makeup, their whole focus is on their outward appearance. The word is simply telling us that our focus should not be on the outward man. It is not telling you not to get dressed and not to do your hair. The word further encourages us to simply dress in modest apparel. We all know what that is. Nobody is twisting the scriptures. If you are in a religion that’s teaching people that they should not braid their hair you are wrong. This scripture does not does not back that claim. As I previously stated, if you believe that is what this scripture is saying, then you must also believe you are not to put on clothes (apparel). Come on saints. Stop turning everything into a doctrine and then telling people they’re going to hell. Jesus Christ paid the price for my sin on the cross. I’m saved by my confession of Jesus Christ. He is the son of God that was sent here to the earth, he was crucified, he died he was buried and he was resurrected and is forever seated at the right hand of the father God making intercession for us. This is my belief. I have confessed this with my mouth, I believe it in my heart, and I’m saved. Romans 10:9-10
One scripture says plaiting, another says braiding. So the bible literally says not to braid your hair. But it's ridiculous to think it's bad to braid your hair?
The old path is Torah. Which is guidelines In righteousness. You said Christ life and example needs to be seen in us. The life He lived was walked out in the Torah. Hallelujah let our light(Jesus) shine ; )
We are wonderfully n fearfully made in his own image .... Jesus Christ is coming for a church (people) he created n finds them in their originality still resembling him
1. Why is it outward adorning not good? Because outward beauty leads people to the world. It can easily cause believers to fall into sin. 2. Why is it inward adorning good? Because inward beauty leads people in to the kingdom of God. People will not be attracted by false appearance but all the good inner characters radiating from the heart. Whatever we do, it must glorify God, therefore do not seek praise from THE WORLD. By doing so you are not glorifying God and guess what!! You just received your reward here on earth!! AMEN.
We all need to understand that Paul cannot give NEW commandments. All the commands were given by Yah alone, and they are all written down in the Tanakh, specifically in the first 5 books of the "old testament" known as the Torah. Do you find a command against braided hair in Gen-Deut?
About this Jewelry and weave thing. I worry that I’m not doing the right thing. Sometimes I feel that it’s okay because of how I view the scripture and other times I feel that it’s not okay. The thing is when I feel like it is wrong I feel as though God is agreeing that it’s not right. So therefore, I’m just going to not wear weave and stuff that I feel uncertain about because it’s a reason I’m uncertain about it. Lord have mercy Jesus on us all. (God bless you and please pray for people around the world that’s going through or that’s in something. Such as storms and natural disasters, sickness, and ungodliness!)
I had this same problem once I discovered that It could possibly be a sin. I became natural for 5 months, and now I am deciding to go back to braiding before school starts so I don't have to focus on my hair whilst its put down in braids or twist. Your hairstyle is your choice. Watch this video and you will see I was answering someone's question. I do, I understood the video. I even HATE when people look for the appearance when 90% (or what I'd like to change to 100%) of your beauty is inside that's attractive not the outside all the time, but I already knew the answer I just needed it confirmed in a way though thanks so much.
It's means not putting al these beads in your hairt etc...to gain attention to yourself. Where that is the first thing people notice about you or wearing flashy jewelry or too much jewelry. Where everyone see's the material & not you. All about brining Glory & attention to God and not to yourself. I don't believe this because in Solomon chapter 5 it talks about one of our prophets having "Locs" that is a form of braiding. Braids have been in centuries for years, in almost every culture. Good afternoon ,sir Thank you for sharing this truth. No offence sorry Braiding of hair means hair braid? If we are not supposed to braid our hair then in what way are we keep our hair? Which type of hair style is right according to the Bible ? Sorry I really want to know and obey the word of God. So just want to clear my doubts Thank you ,sir
So this scripture isn't about not branding your hair or not wearing gold, but is about letting Jesus, The Lord the Spirit of God be your covering. And to not be focused on the outward body, but the inner person, the spirit and soul of the person that God has made new! Right?! Amen?! Because that's all that's going to matter and that's all that's going to exist eventually, and soon! People we need to get it through our head that the spiritual realm was before the physical realm and that's what should be considered first and foremost and above the physical! This is like the "dreamlike" state! Here in the physical universe! When we get into the spiritual realm many people are going to be shocked at how much more "real" it is than here! So you better listen to The Lord and build up your treasure in Heaven! And I don't necessarily mean money and wealth and things like that! Those things are going to pass away! I mean our service to The Lord! Those are the treasures that are going to last and mean something! Did you try to be the best good and faithful servant to The Lord that He made you able to be?! Give your life to The Lord! Really give it! Realize that God is and Truly Believe! I heard something recently that rung true to me. "God gave you the gift of life. Give God the gift of your life!" Make your life a gift to The Lord that we love so much! Realize that God is and Truly Believe! TRULY Believe!! It's amazing how many people claim to be Christian and don't actually and Truly Believe! Test your belief against the scriptures! If you aren't sure test it and see if it stands up with the scriptures, The Word of God! Absolute Truth and Facts! The Lord said "To live is Christ and to die is gain"! So don't let the enemy hold you back with fear! Our Lord commanded us to NOT fear! Truly come to know and understand the scripture "To live is Christ and to die is gain"! Because if you actually understand it you will know you don't need to fear! ANYTHING! It's great to live and have the opportunity to stay here and serve Him as much as possible, but if you get called home it only gets better for you if you are a true believer! Amen?! THIS is to Truly Believe and try to be the best good and faithful servant you can be with as much as The Lord has made you able! Don't let yourself feel "embarrassed" to talk to people about The Lord! Because that is putting man before The Lord! Think about it. I had to learn that one myself! Let's bring in as many as we can to The Lord while we have time. Hope this helps. I love you all!
I also have a question on about wearing pants. Like i haven't been really going to church and stuff but I want to get close with Christ but many say that pants are leading into sin and stuff. Can I wear pants and cover it up with baggy sweaters until I get some long dresses... Thanks.

Good question! Folks like the eunuch (Acts 8) very well might have been black. Most people in the Bible were of middle eastern descent. Thus they would have not been black necessarily.
@@TheOldPaths1994 Shem and Ham and Japeth were related, how is a middle eastern going to be related to a black man Ham, unless they were all black? Or dark skin ppl's?
I am not qualified to talk about genetics in that sense. It has been observed that when groups of people live closer to one another and interbreed, etc., over generations, some genetic traits come out that might not be seen in other groups of people. So, as Ham's people went to Africa while Shem's people stayed in the middle east, there were certain genetic markers that came out in one group that didn't in another and vice versa. That is a simplistic answer but this how I know how to answer such a question.
Probably. The majority of people that braid their are African because of the types of hair that we have. Asian, Arabs and European hair can’t maintain braids like a black woman hair can period.
Garrett Jefferson Immanuel ? You beleive in the Name of Immanuel ? the reason that i ask is that most people deny that Name and stay with the False name of JE'SUS ..

If you watch the video, I believe you will understand the point being made. It never was about if hair can be twisted or braided together. It was what the ladies braided INTO their hair, and even then the point was: Is this action focusing people on someone's body instead of "the hidden man of the heart"? I can't make that decision for you. You must examine what you do and compare it with God's Scriptures (II Cor. 13:5). If you're being a modest person, then you're doing what God says to do. Please watch the video and you will see the explanation and answer to the question. In response to the "coloring" vs "braiding" question, the word in the KJV and a few others is "plaiting," but in about a dozen other translations, it is braiding. In fact, Strong's Lexicon says the original word means braiding. The practice in those days was to braid or intertwine strands of gold or silver into the hair so as to make it seem shiny or glowing. For this reason, some versions use the term "ostentatious hairdos" because the idea was something very gaudy. As I said, watch the video and this is explained further.
GREAT SUBJECT, BUT U MISSED THE POINT OF CALLING A SIN BY ITS NAME, YOU ARE MAKING IT SOUND LIKE "ITS OKAY TO WEAR BRAIDS" WHICH IS NOT, WEARING OF BRAID HAIR IS WRONG AND ITS A SIN. My soul is much calm now. I was struggling and crying for 5 months finding out if I should braid my hair or not.
I identify as a Ghanaian-American child (African-American) who has 4c hair that break and splits, the only way to keep my hair
in place for a long time and make sure it's protected so I don't have to focus on it is to just braid it or twist it.
I only put jewelry in it for special occasions bc I believe it is appropriate during that time.

besides I don't want people to look at me just because of my looks

Natural ALWAYS is better. Always.
Cancer patients on chemotherapy are helped by those wigs, as with chemo you loose your hair everywhere. And their body image is affected, they want to look presentable in the physical world as much as we are Spiritual beings. We should not mix adornments with the Word of God.

Agreed. We are to be more focused on being right in my heart than we are on looking pretty for attention from people.
Ok so money, cars, clothing and jewelery need to be CANCELLED !! Because they are all of high social status of todays society. Those are the type of things that people get killed over. Not somebody's choice of hairstyle.
Above all these things, walk in love, which is the bond of perfection.
Colossians 3:14
Thank you very much for clarifying this. Without it, I think I would have missed the forest for the trees. Praise God for this anointed insight! Peace and may God bless you.

Wow... a lot of interest .. that's awesome!
I keep asking about wearing of apparel too?
Glory to Jesus, the author & finisher of my faith. Thank you Holy Spirit my helper & comforter always.

Meaning do not let it be what defines your beauty. You can wear weave or jewelry, but where is your focus, where is your heart ? Is it on the Lord or on these things. Don’t take pleasure on those things, for they can bring distractions which can then lead you to the world.
Gen chapter 35:1
1And God said unto Jacob, Arise, go up to Bethel, and dwell there: and make there an altar unto God, that appeared unto thee when thou fleddest from the face of Esau thy brother.
@@rdcog ok, what does that have to do with me or you ? Are you worshiping your jewelries ?
@@7heLoveofGod hi! I believe the true question is why aren’t we satisfied with what God created? Would THE creator, the one who ultimately defines beauty, would he be content knowing that his creation whom he loves so much, the one he uniquely designed, all of a sudden decided they wanted to add or take away from what he completed and deemed beautiful and perfect in his sight?
What does God say?
Psalm 139: vs 14,
I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.
AND
Isaiah 55: vs 8-9 says
For my thoughts are not your thoughts,
neither are your ways my ways,”
declares the Lord.
“As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways
and my thoughts than your thoughts.
God bless

He telling women to be modest and not over do it, worrying about the outward appearance only
Amen! Thank you for sharing this word
How could some of you possibly understand that scripture to mean it’s a sin to braid your hair, is unbelievable. You don’t even need discernment to understand what that Scripture saying.
Whose adorning let it not be THAT OUTWARD ADORNING OF
1) plaiting (arrangingof hair, trending styles) the hair
2) wearing of gold
3) putting on of apparel (fine & expensive clothes]
If you’re understanding that scripture to tell you not to braid your hair then you also better understand that scripture is telling you not to put on clothes. Obviously the word is simply telling you to let your adorning be the hidden man of the heart in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit which is in the sight of God great price. 1 Peter 3:3-4
We all know there are people that are high into fashion and huge on adorning themselves with all kind of different styles and lots of makeup, their whole focus is on their outward appearance.
Lack of discernment
This is a great message preach!!!!

We all need to understand that Paul cannot give NEW commandments. All the commands were given by Yah alone, and they are all written down in the Tanakh, specifically in the first 5 books of the "old testament" known as the Torah.
Do you find a command against braided hair in Gen-Deut?
Some lost prefer not to be found. Insane!

So this scripture isn't about not branding your hair or not wearing gold, but is about letting Jesus, The Lord the Spirit of God be your covering.

"God gave you the gift of life.
Give God the gift of your life!"
Make your life a gift to The Lord that we love so much!

I always wondered of the characters in the Bible were black ❤🥰🥰❤❤❤🥰🥰🥰🥰

The KJV says plaiting of the hair or adding color to the hair not braiding. Braiding is okay as long as you do not add colors to it.

THE LORD WONT BE PLEASED TO SEE HIS CHILDREN ADDING BEAUTY TO THEIR BODY WHILE HE SAID WE ARE " WONDERFULLY AND FEARFULLY MADE" IN PSALMS 139:14
IN JOHN 14:15 ITS ONLY IF U LOVE THE LORD AND YOU WILL WANT TO DO HIS WILL, NOTE THAT GOD IS COMING TO GET PEOPLE THE WAY HE CREATED THEM NOT WITH BRAIDS AND EXTENSIONS, ONLY NATURAL ONES WHO DIED IN CHRIST
He doesn't know what he's talking about.
Prove it.
@@TheOldPaths1994 you prove it cause you're a person
@@fredymeza6373 I already proved my position in a 5:41 video. If someone is going to say I am wrong like the man above, he can't just say I'm wrong and walk away he has to prove his charge. That's why I said what I did.
Was this book was written by Peter, the first Bishop of Rome?
Based on the statement of I Peter 1:1, we see that the apostle Peter was the writer of this book, as well as the writer of II Peter. Thanks for writing and for your interest in our videos.
What type of braiding is he talking braiding natural hair ir putting on hair and braiding it?
Please take a moment to watch the video. I explain it there. Spoiler: It is not simply the fact a girl/woman braids her hair as we often see today. it is more than that.
?? ?? Misunderstanding of scripture study ever passage don't skip over look up further scripture to learn the meaning .

1 Cor. 11: 14 Says:" It is for mans GLORY to have LONG hair."YOU say: It is shameful for man to have LONG hair. You believe the opposite to the scripture. You are reading words in a book leaning on your own understanding. We are told in the scripture : We are NOT to lean on our own understanding. prov. 3: 5- 6.We will obey Yahweh PERFECTLY and look for Yahweh's understanding of 1 Cor.11: 14.1 Cor. 11: 14. " Does not NATURE itself teach you that if a man has long hair , it is a dishonour ( shameful) to him. "This scripture is a QUESTION.Yahweh is asking YOU a question.WHEN you answer Yahweh's QUESTION then you will have PERFECT understanding of 1 Cor. 11: 14.Yahweh commanded us not to lean on our own understanding. This you have done.Yahweh wanted us to get this scripture right so He directed our understanding to NATURE.WHEN we look to nature for understanding we find the TRUTH of this matter.A MALE lion has a mane.We must ask:" Is it for his shame / dishounour that he has his MANE."???NO : His mane is for his glory.A MALE peacock has his glorious fantail. The females are drab and plain.WE must ask:' Is it shameful / dishounour to him for his fan tail.??NO: his fantail is for his GLORY.When we obey Yahweh and look to NATURE we are told the PERFECT truth.NOW we go back to Yahweh QUESTION in 1 Cor. 11: 14..Does not NATURE show you that it is shameful / a dishounour for a man to have long hair.????NO: NATURE show us that it for mans GLORY have LONG hair and beard.PERFECT scripture from Yahweh Himself in NATURE.May Yahweh give you understanding in these salvation scriptures.Bless you

We are made in God's image. Animals are NOT. Why does God's Word go into how men are to trim their hair & not shave it if long hair is God's Way for men? Blessings in Jesus. 🙋💝💖👣👣
Um 1st Corinthians 11:14 says it is a discrace for a man to have long hair. You need to take your post down on scripture caz it's a lie
@@edwardrucker3162 **WRONG WRONG** Doth not even nature itself teach you, that, if a man has long hair it is a shame unto him???? It's a question???? Was Joseph a shame????was Samson a shame????
@@philliplyle3781 true, a nazarite vow, men do not cut their hair
It is a woman's glory to have long hair and a shame for a man to have long hair. Read the scripture.
Using the Bible out of context.
When and where? Don't just make a random accusation. Prove it.
Basically you don't want a trophy wife
Unless her heart. And soul is a trophy
Jesus loves you!!!!!
Wrong. If she braid her hair and I get a mohark trim and we both go to church. In yourself and to others we will look different from christians . We're going to look like the world. To put it simple You have a godly look and you have an ungodly look. When you put in brain be honest, doesn't it make you feel more like the world? And when you men trim in a mohark doent it make you feel like the world more and not a Christian more. It have to bother you inside a little that it's wrong, don't ignore the feeling.
