I prayed and asked the LORD to show me what style to wear. I'm 4b/c high porosity. No lie, He said wear mini braids. Your hair is stronger together. So the Pastor is wrong. That's legalism and I agree entirely with Charity's response. Ladies and gents we have to know God for ourselves. When you hear others saying this or that. One thing that I've learned on this journey is that you can have long, short, dyed, braided, straight, curly hair or be bald and still be modest. Modesty is a heart posture. You can't please God by having long hair but you can please God with a pure heart. Culture and personal preference really complicates it but this is a journey 💞

There's something we need understand : the braiding the SCRIPTURE was talking about here is not the regular, basic, moderate braiding that black people traditionally do. The braiding being spoken of here is the elaborate, ostentatious styles people were doing and still do. Braiding (we call it weaving in Nigeria), is a an essential part of styling our hair because of the unique way GOD created it.

I am tired of hearing people misinterpret those veres. The thing is they don't apply the other elements..."the wearing of gold, pearls and costly array (garments or accessories)" If we take the verses the way some do no one should wear a gold wedding band on their hand, or a gold necklace, no one should wear pearls, or wear any clothes that is above the average price.
Charity is right, the verse is cautioning women not to focus so much on outter beauty but rather the inward person. That does not mean a woman or man should not take care of themselves and not style their hair in braids or wear any kind of jewelry or any piece of expensive clothing. Context is everything in this case.
The jewelry part is not of God and our hair is his creation naturally grown out of us that we should take care of in modesty without adornment Ex. 33:5 and Joshua 24:23 KJV we must throw out all foreign gods stay blessed

Ornaments are not necessarily jewelry. Ornaments can be anything that is used to adorn or beautify a person (male or female) or clothes.
*Read these verses and try telling others again that jewelry is not of
God.
- Isaiah 3: (especially vs.16- 26). IS God taking away an evil thing from them because of their sin, or is he taking away a good thing because of their sin?
- Isaiah 61:10
There are many others in the books of psalm, proverbs, etc. That speak of ornanments, jewelry and fine clothing as a good thing when it is not worn in pride and corruption, which is the point made in Timothy 2:10 and 1 Peter 3: 3-5.
If wearing jewelry is wrong/sinful or not of God then so is braiding/twisting our hair, wearing head bands, wedding rings and certain types of expensive clothing and shoes.

I grew up in a church (actually still in that church) that condemn the wearing of jewelry, and the wearing of makeup as though it is a sin, when the bible says nothing of the sort. I see this as teaching doctrines of men.
If onr wants to caution someone on excessive adornment and vanity do so, but they should not say it (jewelry, ornanment or adornment) is evil, sinful or wrong.

This is very true that we need to seek GOD's guidance even in what other people might say smallest details in our daily lives. I'm learning now to pray and seek GOD's guidance in the smallest to the biggest things I need to do each day and be guided by the Holy Spirit as I don't want to lean on my own understanding but to always acknowledge HIM for HE promised to direct our path 🙏🏻
I’m like 90 percent sure this stuff was NOT written for or in regards to African women with kinky hair.
They wrote these things focusing on women braiding as adornment vs a necessity.
I'm in agreement with this message all the way. Modesty to represent Jesus is the best way to describe what God wants.Im watching God move through me and my desires become his.

I also find it contradictory when someone uses those verses to say that it is a sin and that I will go to hell for braiding my hair bc it literally says that God looks at what is on the inside, not the outside. Yes we should be modest when it comes to our appearance but we should also take care of what God has given us. As long as we don’t become to obsessive/excessive with it

Hi not trying to say this but some people is worrying about the wrong thing God don't see that when I was growing up in church I know women should always tie or put a hat on their head for the respect of God word but now things has change now chirstian say God looks at the heart ❤ I'am a Christian ✝️ too but I don't love to judge people because most of them our the worst Christian then the outsiders. You just got to think about who you really r in Christ 🙏

Hey sister, what would you say about locs? I started to loc my hair because I just wanted it to grow longer and stop cutting it, I know as women we are not supposed to cut it.
What do you suggest for someone who has limited time and resources to style natural hair as a single Mom of 3 very young children. I barely have time to eat or use the bathroom let alone take time to moisturize style and twist my hair. WTBS however I do have a conviction to embrace my natural hair as I have 4C hair and have been relaxing since elementary. I do not believe in cutting it to get the relaxed ends off however as I transition Im not sure to whether I should wear braids (with hair added) or wigs..I have been wearing a ponytail for months now and it is breaking off my hair worse and honestly I look not very well put together most days because lack of time and idk what to do... any advice? I have traction alopecia. God has taken me away from lace wigs and I have moved to crochet braids to try and get my natural hair back to where it is supposed to be. I want to wear my natural hair so bad but I want it to be right.
What have you done about the traction alopecia?
God means don’t have all your priorities into your hair and clothes! Don’t be worldly but nothings wrong with wearing fake hair and jewelry but have a good spirit and personality!
Sometimes I'm about to cut my long hair because is hard to comb ... so I in 2 or 3 occassions I said : Jesus if I can't do my hair, I will cut it, so if you don't want me to do that please help me. And it's amazing how easy I can start working with my hair. I even start feeling love for my hair. I always thank you Jesus for my hair, also because when I have this kind of conversation with him. People start saying how beautiful long hair I have and I don't use products or go to the salon to maintain a healthy hair.

Hair is a woman’s covering. So it has to be long. I believe that there is nothing wrong with braiding the hair or the jewelry. The jewelry shouldn’t be promoting evil spirits. But you should never wear it when your hair already at the length God wants it to be. That length is past shoulders. But people of the world have made hair an idol. May God bless you richly.

Do you blow dry your hair. My hair is 4ddd lol and I don't want to get heat damage so I havent use heat on it since I cut it is 7months old now

Like Mrs Charity already noted about praying on what to do with your hair and pleasing God in whatever you do. My mom has been on low cut for over 15 years. I love how we as black women NOW want to research the times and fashions of biblical ppl to suit our need - God said braids . Period. Black women aren’t exempt . Stop trying to make exceptions to rules .. he said all these things are vanity and make one proud. Yahuah used you to confirm him telling me to stop wearing pants and wear long dresses, to stop wearing makeup and throw it and jewelry away, to stop plaiting my hair and twisting it, to stop wearing high heels and nail polish etc. He also told me to stop listening to worldly music which I sometimes fall back into that temptation sometimes and to wear my headcovering all the time. According to your video on makeup. You used 1 Peter 3:3-4 to condemn wearing of jewelleries and wedding ring.
3 things were mentioned there “not putting on of Gold”, “braiding of hair” and “putting on of apparel”
So if in this video you are saying braiding of hair can be in a modest way, why can’t putting on of jewelleries also be worn in a moderate modest way???
If 1 Peter 3:3-4 is against wearing jewelleries in all ways, then it’s also against braiding of hair in every way. Even putting on of clothings.
My point is, if the verses you gave condemns the use of jewelleries, then it also condemns all other items listed in the same verse.

Many get the scripture confused he says let not the adorning be braids gold and pearls .This means don't wear these things if they are more important to you than God then they become your Master .But if you have self control and love God more than looks and materials you can wear many things and not be affected .Things become a persons Master and an idol when we aren't putting God first in our lives .Also Timothy was saying don't do these things to attract. It's nothing wrong with looking decent but when a woman do things to get someone elses attention it's not of God. We should look good for ourselves and not try to gain attention the wrong way from people or men .
What about twists? My dad is telling me twists are demonic, my hair can't do regular braids(3 strands). I don't know any options except cornrows, which is torture to my tender scalp. So I'm left with the options of attachments, relaxing or cutting my hair. I don't believe God wants me to be stressed out and spend so much time and money on hair. Twists have been so stress free and time saving.
