Cindy, I’ve recovered so many cushions in my life and have STRUGGLED with the zippers, boxing and corners lining up! I made a welted cushion in one afternoon and it’s absolutely perfect. You’re the best! Thank you so much.
Glad to help. Good job!!!
Watching how she put everything together, I like the fact that she puts up 100% concentration trying to figure out what the cause of the damage in the chair is. It's amazing.
How fantastic! The skill is enormous, and Cindy's calm, systematic approach is really inspiring. I'm sewing two of these for an old sofa and feel so much better about it having watched this. THANK YOU!!!!!!!
Thanks for the very positive comments!
The most clear and concise instructions I have seen. This exceeds the in person class I took years ago now that left me bewildered and discouraged from trying upholstery until now. These videos have renewed my confidence in trying some home projects again. Cindy, what a great job. Thanks to you and everyone at Salrite.
We are glad to help!
Cindi is amazing. I love the step by step instructions. I also appreciate how calm and precise she is in these videos. Very well done!! These videos are by far the best I’ve seen yet.
We are so glad that you liked this video. Thanks!!!
Give Cindy a raise, she is the bomb! So skillful.
Yes she is. Thanks and good suggestion.
I haven't done upholstery work for than thirty years. Watching you inspired me to get back in the feild. You' re the best Cyndy👍
Thank you so much for your kind words! I'm glad to have inspired you to get back into upholstery work after all these years.
As many others have stated, this was an excellent quality video all around. Not only was sound and video quality excellent, the entire lesson was fully explained and narrated. And Cindy is an excellent craftswoman!. I was able to tackle my first upholstery job and very happy with the results. Even though my armchair was not constructed exactly the same as the video, I could still apply the same skills and principles.
This is a masterclass tutorial! I'm about to make a box cushion for two foam seats and this will help me enormously to get a professional (hopefully) finish! I learned that you can have your band much bigger and finish it off with a pleat to hide and protect the zip and also how to mark correctly. Thank you so much! :-)
You are welcome! I hope your project comes out well.
Absolutely excellent tutorial! Well-organized, well-paced, well narrated . Thank you for sharing your expertise!🙏🏼
I love that Cindy takes her time and is so calm, in her work. Cindy makes these videos so easy to learn by. Thank you!
+Mary Jaramillo Thanks for you positive comment!
+Mary Jaramillo She is (calm!). I like the way she just goes about it. Not so much explanation that you are confused, and just enough being as she is actually showing you what to do! Great way to learn. Thanks, Cindi!

Fantastic video and instruction. Thank you so much, now to get sewing.
+Karen von Ahlefeldt Awesome! Glad we could help. Let us know if you have any questions.
Great videos! Great teacher!
Thanks!
I usually don't match up a bizzy pattern on cushion sides unless it's a stripe but it loks ok Cindy nice attention to detail
excellent videos! Thank you
I’ve watch all the videos for this chair project. In your professional approach and all your knowledge applied, how many hours did it take YOU to do it, knowing a novice like me, would need much more time.
Filming usually doubles the amount of time it takes to finish a project. If we had not been filming we could have finished the whole chair including the cushion in less than 8 hours.
Great tutorial! Thank you!
You're very welcome!
Ty, awesome your direccion Cindy. You should do all the explanation, you got a good voice.
I think I'll start with a plain fabric until perfection before using pattern material. Still, this is awesome THANK YOU!
You are welcome! Let us know if you have questions.
Hats off -- however! I did have more trouble understanding this than I did with the chair itself. I have sat and watched both videos through all the way so that I kind of know what is coming or what to expect. I expect to a lot of the marking and notch cutting! Thanks! Can't wait to get started on a similar [antique] chair that I have had for years. Thank goodness it doesn't have that back cushion!! I have so many pieces that need to be redone, I hope I can figure this out.
Oh! I have a furniture dolly, bought at Harbor Freight for $8.00 that would be so easy to turn into the rolling table that would be so easy and make this so much easier. It would already have the frame and wheels -- I want to add a piece of plywood and maybe build it up -- or just sit on a low stool and leave it as is. Anyway, a simple way to make the turn-table. Thanks again.
+SKenneyGIrl Tan Glad you liked it. Let us know if you have questions along the way of your next project. Hey - a cool turn table how to make video can be found here: www.sailrite.com/How-to-Make-an-Upholstery-Work-Table-Video

+iñaki azpiazu Thanks!
Wow Cindi is a pro!
Thanks!!!
who the hell has the nerve to dislike this video.. are they some kind of jelousy... or they just dont get it...hahahahaha good job madame and sir.... very very well done....
I’m new to sewing. Last night I tried to repair a seat cushion (t shape). I just realized that I need a different foot attachments, so I’ll have to redo it all. My issue now is, that the “band” already has the piping sewed on for both sides... ugh. I wish I had money so I could just pay someone to fix it 😕
I’m going to rewatch this video carefully so I can learn. Thanks!
Beautiful work, great video. I’m way too intimidated for this project though!
These are great instructional aides. I hope I can manage this on my 30 year old Singer.
+Bash Brannigan Yes, you can do it. Let us know if you have questions.
+Sailrite I have a question about the sewing foot. I, too, am on an old machine. I think it's fine, but what exactly is that foot? Is it an upholstery foot, special, or what? I did a search on your site and did not see any sold individually anyway. A lot of what when on seemed to be going right along because of that foot "doing the work," as she said. Thanks!
+SKenneyGIrl Tan My machine is also a Singer, going on about 25+ years, just FYI. I am going to look for that foot, but would love some input! Thanks again.
You do not need a walking foot. Your regular sewing foot will work just fine so do not go out and purchase a foot. More than likely you will not be able to find a walking foot for a home sewing machine. Most are available for industrial type machines.
Great video.! How do you like up the layers of fabric? They look offset in the video.
Wonderful ❤️
Vous êtes super merci sailrite merci merci
Merci pour votre commentaire positif!
Thank you so much for these videos, am looking at my couch, thinking maybe I could do this. Could you please give approximate measurements for material needs so I know how much to buy...
+Joan Elkins Hi Joan,
Use this fabric calculator to help figure fabric for upholstery jobs: fabric-calculator.com/upholstery.aspx
Wow I’ve never seen Piping sewn on the bottom n top plates. Got to try this. Is it easier this way then Sewing iping to the boxing
Cindi is amazing
Could you sew the batting to the foam to keep it from slipping?
Great neat work, perfect tutorial , will the overlap at the zipper be sewn down
The zipper has a flange of fabric that helps to hide the zipper's teeth, it is on both sides of the zipper. No, it is not sewn down.
Thank you
