DBS is simply not as deep or dramatic as DBZ ever was. Its mostly fanservice and really basic storytelling that only succeeds off Goku and Vegeta's popularity. Some DBS fans just won't admit it though.

Goku and Gohan achieved so much in so short a time because they used each other and grew stronger together, constantly pushing their own limits to surpass each other Not even taking a year and constantly resting. Meanwhile Vegetas nonstop training resulted in diminished returns as he grew accustomed to his environment, the same way people who go to the gym daily doing the same routine and never getting any stronger or looking any different despite being fit and pushing themselves. Thats why its a hard pill for Vegeta to swallow. despite his immense struggle, others achieve it without the same effort. He trains harder, not smarter.
Goku went once in the Chamber and came out as strong as Perfect Cell. Vegeta went and got destroyed by the same Cell. Then he went a second time and I don't even know if he was Perfect Cell level

It took him a long time to learn instant transmission. dont act like goku got this strong by doing nothing. Vegita would have learned some new moves too, but he didnt because he didnt accept help from anybody. you heard him in the video "I dont need your help. I train alone". Dragonball Super sucks. Training and Work Ethic is what makes Saiyan so admirable. Having an Amazing Work Ethic is what DBZ taught me in real life. You dont just wake up and Voila you have what you want in life, you have to train and work insanely hard. Dragonball Super, theres no real training segments or work ethic. It's just a bunch of transformations. What made transformations special in DBZ is that Saiyan had to train hard to achieve those new transformations.

I finally get it, I just couldn't put my finger on it. Even though Super had many great fighting scenes (especially in the tournament of power saga), for some reason, just didnt feel the same as DBZ. I didn't understand what it was. Was I just getting older and losing the interest I once had when I was a kid, is it new animation, the new characters, were the fights too fast, were my feelings too biased towards the nostalgia DBZ gave me, ect ect? Nope not at all. You nailed it. What made DBZ great is the quality process that the Z fighters went through in order to achieve what they've become. Not some cheap excuse or mediocre shortcut to get to the next level. Now im not claiming that DBZ was flawless/perfect or didnt have holes in it's story plot meanwhile DBS just straight up sucked. Dont don't get me wrong, I like DBS and imo had good stuff, but for the above reasons, DBZ will always be better.

This is probably one of a handful of scenes that really gets to me in anime. Trunks and Vegeta in this scene is basically the mirror image of me and my dead father. Right down to the last word. This was pretty much my childhood.
Not for nothing but I hardly see my dad nowadays because he lives too far away, even till this day I following his footsteps. He worked at a seafood business and manage take care of his family just fine. I am doing the same thing while he enjoys his retirement all because he is a great dad and I will always honor him. No wonder why trunks always been my favorite character in dbz as a kid 😌

Vegeta and Future Trunks---easily most the complex characters. Vegeta is a fascinating character study--and while he can be an ass--his determination makes him incredibly impressive. He's so driven and motivated. I wish I had a quarter of his drive. Trunks is the by-product of a destroyed world--becoming obsessed with emulating the one man who is a shadow, an unattainable God to him. Through his horrors in his time--he still sees the good in Vegeta--like Bulma did--even though no one else does.
This scene is under rated .. this explains how Goku got so much stronger than Vegeta...because Goku didn't have to fight complications of his own mind.... fighting is almost natural for Goku and he evolves automatically... In Buu saga Vegeta himself states this twice...once while he fought Goku...he said he was marvelled by Goku's strength and realised fighting and evolving is natural for him .. Second was when he saw Goku fighting buy in SSJ3 and gave the iconic speech..
Well Vegeta you wanna train alone, look where that got you getting your ass whipped by Cell, while Goku trained with his son and became even stronger than you

This shows us Trunks character arc beautifully, he was afraid that he is not strong enough, he thought he needed to work in a team, but at the time chamber he had no one. He trained alone and had to believe in himself, he wanted to achieve the power his father has. He was forced to train alone and that changed him and allowed him to get strong and made him believe in himself.

Vegeta 7 years after the Cell Arc was still on SSJ2 level meanwhile Caulifla finds out about SSJ couple months ago then shows up at the tournament, finds out theres another level above it and then proceeds to reach that level in no time. I'm starting to think the minds of the people inside the Hyperbolic Time chamber affect the environment within it. Goku and Gohan (and even kid Goten and kid Trunks) didn't have nearly this difficult of a time in there.
For real. I love that line from him. He is so intense in his emotions--like Vegeta can be--but with incredible humility. His honor is almost unmatched. He knows his dad is such a hardass--and yet, forces himself to see the good and bad in him. Not just one or the other. Because he knew his mother did. Its like in coming to their time, he's opened a door to something he'd thought unattainable and he's determined to grasp it. He doesn't back down to Vegeta but he doesn't antagonize him either.
this monologue is something I know a lot of people can relate to. There are people out there that have that one family member that they love and want to be like so much but that other family member pays no attention to them. They see what their loved one goes through and their love and respect get stronger and soon that person becomes inspired to become just like them in whatever it is they do just so they can get them to give them their attention.

At this point, no. During this time papa Veggie was begining to have feelings towards Trunks, but he just didn't want to express them. That wouldn't be until Cell kill F Trunks and he finally showed them. He did however show express himself to Kid Trunks, as it's shown they have a father-son relationship.
Basicly what I'm trying to say is that Veggie did show Present Trunks tough love training, with F. Trunks he showed him the "Fuck off and leave me alone" training.

I finally get it, I just couldn't put my finger on it. Even though Super had many great fighting scenes (especially in the tournament of power saga), for some reason, just didnt feel the same as DBZ. I didn't understand what it was. Was I just getting older and losing the interest I once had when I was a kid, is it new animation, the new characters, were the fights too fast, were my feelings too biased towards the nostalgia DBZ gave me, ect ect? Nope not at all. You nailed it. What made DBZ great is the quality process that the Z fighters went through in order to achieve what they've become. Not some cheap excuse or mediocre shortcut to get to the next level. Now im not claiming that DBZ was flawless/perfect or didnt have holes in it's story plot meanwhile DBS just straight up sucked. Dont don't get me wrong, I like DBS and imo had good stuff, but for the above reasons, DBZ will always be better.

This is probably one of a handful of scenes that really gets to me in anime. Trunks and Vegeta in this scene is basically the mirror image of me and my dead father. Right down to the last word. This was pretty much my childhood.

He worked at a seafood business and manage take care of his family just fine. I am doing the same thing while he enjoys his retirement all because he is a great dad and I will always honor him. Vegeta and Future Trunks---easily most the complex characters. Vegeta is a fascinating character study--and while he can be an ass--his determination makes him incredibly impressive. He's so driven and motivated. I wish I had a quarter of his drive.
Trunks is the by-product of a destroyed world--becoming obsessed with emulating the one man who is a shadow, an unattainable God to him. Through his horrors in his time--he still sees the good in Vegeta--like Bulma did--even though no one else does.
This scene is under rated .. this explains how Goku got so much stronger than Vegeta...because Goku didn't have to fight complications of his own mind.... fighting is almost natural for Goku and he evolves automatically...
In Buu saga Vegeta himself states this twice...once while he fought Goku...he said he was marvelled by Goku's strength and realised fighting and evolving is natural for him ..
Second was when he saw Goku fighting buy in SSJ3 and gave the iconic speech..

This shows us Trunks character arc beautifully, he was afraid that he is not strong enough, he thought he needed to work in a team, but at the time chamber he had no one. He trained alone and had to believe in himself, he wanted to achieve the power his father has. He was forced to train alone and that changed him and allowed him to get strong and made him believe in himself.

Vegeta 7 years after the Cell Arc was still on SSJ2 level meanwhile Caulifla finds out about SSJ couple months ago then shows up at the tournament, finds out theres another level above it and then proceeds to reach that level in no time. Ridiculous

I'm starting to think the minds of the people inside the Hyperbolic Time chamber affect the environment within it. Goku and Gohan (and even kid Goten and kid Trunks) didn't have nearly this difficult of a time in there.
Dragon Ball super is...okay but it did no justice to the original. They should’ve just left it alone.
From this scene it looks like all Vegeta really did was scream standing in one place. If that was his training it’s no wonder how Cell kicked his ass.
For real. I love that line from him. He is so intense in his emotions--like Vegeta can be--but with incredible humility. His honor is almost unmatched. He knows his dad is such a hardass--and yet, forces himself to see the good and bad in him. Not just one or the other. Because he knew his mother did. Its like in coming to their time, he's opened a door to something he'd thought unattainable and he's determined to grasp it. He doesn't back down to Vegeta but he doesn't antagonize him either.
But he never knew that his father was Evil before
Trunks had such a brutal time compared to Gohan because he pretty much did go in alone. Vegeta had abandoned and ignored him the whole time.

There are people out there that have that one family member that they love and want to be like so much but that other family member pays no attention to them. They see what their loved one goes through and their love and respect get stronger and soon that person becomes inspired to become just like them in whatever it is they do just so they can get them to give them their attention.
