I would so love to see the next episode on the 2 scouts since they both play completely different roles, and im really happy to see more tfc tf2 comparison videos
the tf2 scout is more deathmatchy style gameplay, the TFC one instead, since for the lack of health, is literally "run and capture the point", even the description says that its better to avoid people and go for a control point or a flag, wich btw they are actual flags in TFC
@@potatoweaver4116 Well, in practice; the concept works, he does what he's supposed to do but his capabilities are intentionally narrowed down that his capabilities are limited to what he's supposed to do and can't do anything else.
@@user-tzzglsstle585e38 in practice it doesn't work because it's boring for the player and other classes like Soldier end up being able to capture the flag better because they can defend themselves. Scout in TFC is useless because he's totally outclassed by Soldier. Scout in TF2 isn't even good at the one thing he's designed for. The idea of a class that basically can't fight back at all isn't a good idea. In TF2 even weaker 1v1 classes like Medic and Spy are very much capable of doing damage and fighting back.
2:37 I know why it looks exactly like the Half-Life health count, but my headcannon is that Black Mesa loaned some H.E.V. suits to TF Industries. Also, I would give TFC's heavy the win for shotgun.
This is an incredibly creative video idea! I would love to see someone turn this into a mod so we could actually see a 1v1 between the TF1 heavy and the TF2 heavy.
So the only reason why the TF2 Heavy beat the TFC Heavy in the comics is because the TFC Heavy got cocky and decided to do a melee only fight (and TFC’s melee sucks).
14:55 It does make sense. Even though we don't see Boss (aka TFC Heavy in the comics) fight Misha with his own forces, I think he would give him a run for his life, even if without the australium. Remember, Misha had the upperhand via the rage of Ludwig's death, and Boss was heavily injured by him, HE WAS STABBED IN THE GUT WITH A BONE SAW, and still he moves like it's nothing. Misha beated him with rage and with Ludwig's distraction. He would have been Dead Meat if Ludwig wasn't there.
That makes me question why you can't use australium in any of the tf games. Seriously, there should be a life extender machine as a cosmetic or weapon. The only thing we have right now is a 3d model of redmond's life extender, which is an easter egg in mann manor.
@@ps-frag On that case, you have human versus animal, not only that, but a human that knows how to deal with his local wildlife. Impressive yes, but also reasonable for him
Same could be said for the original Team Fortress which screams Quake! TF2 also to some extent screams half life 2 (Or maybe that's just me, it has a similar vibe so maybe that's why despite having such a different art style)
Very informative and well-made video. It also provides a unique look into the different designing philosophys of TFC and TF2. Overall a great idea and fantastic execution. However I don't personally like how you limited the TF2 characters to only stock but I can see why you did so considering how many variables that would bring, if possible maybe you could have a little section after declaring the winner of the "fair fight" talking about how allowing different weapons for the TF2 character would/could effect the fight but that might be a bit much so if I wouldn't complain if you didn't. After all this is still a fuckin great vid and concept so I hope you continue to make them. For the next matchup, I would like to see my main Scout being compared to his TFC counterpart.
I can already tell you that TF2 scout would win because the only weapons TFC scout has are the single-barrel shotgun, a nailgun, and caltrops. He really was designed as a scout and only a scout
Very underrated, but most games with such a chunkiness are going to be appreciated by a niche group as apposed to mostly everyone because the people that stuck around with it have a much harder time thinking back to the difficulty they had with it in the beginning. This very thing happens to other games, the Sonic franchise being a large contender.

I’m really curious about how the spy will be handled. Theoretically both can always beat the other, as they aren’t 1v1 direct duelists so they’re optimal play style would make a direct comparison incredibly difficult I feel.
Ehhhh. Mechanically, agreed. In-universe, TF2 medic would probably have something of a fighting chance, due to also (maybe) having other poisons, such as those put in the syringe guns? Not really sure though
I was hoping to here about one tfc's hardest to master mechanics in this video. Grenade jumping it really can turn the tide of battle especially with a low mobility class like heavy. It takes a lot of health but with skill you can go flying, something the tf2 heavy can only dream of.
I’m interested to see where this series goes! From what little I know of TFC, many of the classes are radically different, so a straightforward 1v1 wouldn’t be an accurate comparison, and I’m interested to see how you work around this!
I thought this was a really fun and interesting video! And I think regardless of which class is chosen next, it will be just as interesting as this due to the vast changes of everything between the two games. I also think it would be cool see at the end of the series comparing each team's collective synergies against one another; it is a team game after all! Regardless, excellent video! :)
I don't know why, but while listening to this I was thinking about the show "Deadliest Warrior" and I was expecting an SFM short with those 2 fighting in a tfc/tf2 map. Sounds cool at least. You did well Squim Jim. You raised questions, and that's the best you can do to a fandom.
Would love to see this for the spy as I'm interested in seeing how different he is in his original with how he is in the current. That or pyro as it was confirmed later in the tf2 comics the original pyro was a woman which doesn't change anything with this type of fight, or I guess any kind of fight, but is still enough reason to put pyro sooner. Ooh or engineer as I heard a theory that the tfc engie was the tf2s dad so, assuming that's the truth, it could make an Interesting experience
i mean, im pretty sure TFC Engineer is 1. One of the few dead before the comics fight took place, 2. Either unrelated or Engineers grandfather, but not Radigan Conagher (Engis dad)
2:59 what if the TF2 mercs have a lighter stronger more reliable armor and random crits aren’t your weapon getting better but instead your enemies armor failing
Scout vs Scout sounds interesting. TFC Scout has caltrops to slow down current scout, but current scout has a Double Jump to let him soar above any traps. Grenades obviously aren't much use thanks to Scout's speed. While the Nail Gun gives Classic Scout a range advantage, the nails move so slow that Modern Scout could dodge them pretty much effortlessly. Single Barreled Shotgun also deals much less damage than the Scattergun. Hell, Classic Scout's damage is so low that the TF2 wiki outright says you shouldn't actually try to damage enemies with him and just try to run with the flag.
It took me a long time to wonder if there was a TF1, I never thought about TF2 being a sequel to anything. Just like New York never made me wonder if there was an Old York
As someone who's had the odd LAN Party or 2 with TFC, yeah TFC Heavy shuts can shut down chokes very fast and the fact that 32 damage doesn't drop off which means Light Classes like Scouts, Medics, Engineers and Spies cannot push into a choke without being turned into minced meat. Doesn't mean those classes don't have counter play, Engineers definitely can OHKO the heavy with a well-placed EMP grenade, Scouts can Concjump past the heavy, Spies can use their Hallucination grenades(though it'll probably not kill the Heavy), Medics have the hardest time pushing against them still though.
8:01 If double-barreled shotgun is better at range it gonna be used on medium/long range and can win you many battles if you keep distance. I think TFC is winner here.
You know, it's kinda sad that the hulking mass that is Heavy, TFC for that matter, deals the same amount of damage with a crowbar as a scout. In his prime, though, he could probably annihilate TF2 even without a medic
Small idea to maybe even out the playing field, if TFC Heavy is allowed to use the grenades, TF2 Heavy should be allowed to have one Sandvich with him (yes I know it wouldnt be possible for him to carry both a shotgun and Sandvich in-game, but Im just making this point to even out the loadout so both of them have their melee, a primary weapon, a secondary weapon and a consumable. This could maybe then be used for the matchups of the other classes.)

To be fair, back in the days of TFC, players considered Heavy Weapons Guy to be the "noob class" in that it was easiest to kill anyone as HWG because he was OP. That has since shifted to the Pyro. TFC Pyro, however, is going to get absolutely SLAUGHTERED because it was a HORRIBLE class and nobody played it.

at this point add bhopping too and you just do the entire map 23 times in 4 seconds, this is just how they walk normally, of course if you use these things so you can go at the speed of light in seconds but that was not the point

@@tragedyplustime8271 Soldier loses rocket jumping, engie sentry and demo sticky,as well as medic

@@honorguard7616 Nope. Grenade Jumping works for ALL classes, including classes that really shouldn't have it like Heavy or Medic. Rocket Jumping and Sticky Jumping only apply to Demo & Soldier (And Sticky Jumping is practically useless unless you have the Sticky Jumper).
Also, I was talking about the bhop as a glitch, it isn't an intended feature
@@tragedyplustime8271 in TF2 pyro can rocket jump ,similar for medic (be it in two different ways)
I would so love to see the next episode on the 2 scouts since they both play completely different roles, and im really happy to see more tfc tf2 comparison videos
the tf2 scout is more deathmatchy style gameplay, the TFC one instead, since for the lack of health, is literally "run and capture the point", even the description says that its better to avoid people and go for a control point or a flag, wich btw they are actual flags in TFC
tfc scout just seems like a horrible concept. a weak class that only caps
@@dkskcjfjswwwwwws413 TFC Scout is horrible. Like I get the idea behind the concept, but in practice it just doesn't work.
"Heavy is the most iconic class in the game"
Wrong. They all are
2:37 I know why it looks exactly like the Half-Life health count, but my headcannon is that Black Mesa loaned some H.E.V. suits to TF Industries.
Also, I would give TFC's heavy the win for shotgun.
This is an incredibly creative video idea! I would love to see someone turn this into a mod so we could actually see a 1v1 between the TF1 heavy and the TF2 heavy.
Heavy from MTF was the goat cause he was an offensive class
@@franagustin3094what’s MTF?
@@LukaZibar mega team fortress. It was a mod of qwtf
So the only reason why the TF2 Heavy beat the TFC Heavy in the comics is because the TFC Heavy got cocky and decided to do a melee only fight (and TFC’s melee sucks).
He also was in his late 80's and bleeding
That was really stupid of him
As far as I'm concerned, "Ol' assaulty" is the canon name of the assault cannon.
Dude, just call them Heavy and Medic. It's easier for those who don't know their actual names.
@@courier712 ok, "Heavy would beat Heavy since Heavy showed that he has much more experience than Heavy..." nothing that a Google check couldn't fix.
Necropost, but anyway, Tf2 heavi killed a mother bear with bare hands so he's incredibly powerful
@@ps-frag On that case, you have human versus animal, not only that, but a human that knows how to deal with his local wildlife. Impressive yes, but also reasonable for him
Just look at TFC, look at how much it yells "HALF LIFE" in every aspect 😂
Please make more of these! I'm lacking TFC knowledge, and this is really helping me
Love if you covered TFC more, its underrated. Also would love to see the other Classic Mercs in your drawin style, it suits em.
id say it looks unpolished when compared to cs and half life
Very underrated, but most games with such a chunkiness are going to be appreciated by a niche group as apposed to mostly everyone because the people that stuck around with it have a much harder time thinking back to the difficulty they had with it in the beginning. This very thing happens to other games, the Sonic franchise being a large contender.
You will never be a real woman
I just realized the Family Business is the single barrel shotgun
the difference is that family business is actually useable
The TF2 Sniper would absolutely murder the TFC Sniper.

This was great, I especially loved taking the TFC weapons' stats and converting them into TF2 item attributes
What I got from this is that the TFC heavy wins because his load-out, while technically weaker, is far more versatile.
Mainly grenades from what I recall
Honestly, I've heard Team Fortress 2 so much to the point to where "Team Fortress" just sounds completely wrong... You need the 2 at the end...
I’m really curious about how the spy will be handled. Theoretically both can always beat the other, as they aren’t 1v1 direct duelists so they’re optimal play style would make a direct comparison incredibly difficult I feel.
If he ever gets to classic Medic vs. modern Medic, Classic wins. Classic is terrifying with his neurotoxin.

TFC Heavy: is winning
TF2 Heavy: oh nooo...

I doubt it would make a big difference but the TFC Assault canon clearly has a GIGANTIC spread which also limits its ranged capabilities

Overall; both classes are designed for completely different purpose so TF2 Scout wins due to TFC Scout not intended for direct combat at all.
It took me a long time to wonder if there was a TF1, I never thought about TF2 being a sequel to anything. Just like New York never made me wonder if there was an Old York

Something interesting is that the Heavy's minigun used to only ramp up while firing... so imagine if this video was made back then.
Those EMP grenades are bloody powerful. Most of my deaths as soldier, heavy, and demo have been to those damn things
"And in the red corner, with his minigun weighing in at 150 kilograms. He puts the heavy in heavy weapons. THE" (ad starts) google home.
I love how you used Sandman's theme to compare 2 huge guys
Small idea to maybe even out the playing field, if TFC Heavy is allowed to use the grenades, TF2 Heavy should be allowed to have one Sandvich with him (yes I know it wouldnt be possible for him to carry both a shotgun and Sandvich in-game, but Im just making this point to even out the loadout so both of them have their melee, a primary weapon, a secondary weapon and a consumable. This could maybe then be used for the matchups of the other classes.)
Grenades would love that
