few things i wanted to say watching this 1 relate so much to your story of your childhood for my 18th birthday i held a lan party with every computer and laptop i could scrape together, just to play tf2 with all my friends and family whilst im cautious, but i do feel that the quality of the tf2 updates has been slowly improving, for a long while tf2's updates were just garbage hats, and maps (wutville) theyve slowly become less garbage hats, less garbage maps, theyve added important things like moving the code base over to 64bit, adding VScript, adding 100 player limit options, adding community fixes section to the workshop these changes still pale to the incredible updates of old, and i still yearn for the day that the ambassador gets reverted to its pre-jungle inferno status after its wrongful nerf in Jungle inferno, but it does feel like whoever is working on TF2 is slowly getting better / more efficient, or managing to rope in more help, or whatever have you in getting TF2 updates to just be a little bit better lastly, i know your friend from valve said that 20ish people are working on TF2, but that could mean a lot of different things, and before i continue, i dont want to make it sound like any one persons job is less important than another do the people making the Comic count? because that's at least a writer or two, an artist or 3, and never mind proof reading, checking for errors with the drawings dont get me wrong, the TF Comic would be amazing to see, but its not going to change the game even if they are actually working on the game, there is a big difference between someone who works on importing models / textures from the workshop for hats, someone who helps beta test maps to see how well they play, someone who manually bans players who cheat, or grief someone who works on the technical stuff, like adding in Vscript, 100 player limit, 64bit update, getting a community fix section working on the workshop dont get me wrong, all of these jobs are important in different ways, but ultimately, realistically, none of these 20 people are working on actually making another major update to the game and whilst ill always be hopeful, it does leave me sad at the raw potential tf2 will never see because of it as a huge fan of TF2, ive written up a ton of changes id love to see added to the game, docs.google.com/document/d/1O3eW-Vh6mV4roi3J55nJw48B0zGkxW7M3RekIevgcQA/edit think about all the cool stuff that could exist fun new weapons like giving scout a BHop Scattergun, heavy a sandvich minigun replacement and demoman a market gardener, balancing weapons like the ambassador to feel fun and useful, making the sandman guilotine combo, fun, but fair adding in female versions of the TF2 mercs giving tf2 a pseudo story that also works as a built in tutorial for new players never mind countless fixes to old default settings, mvm issues, in-game competitive issues one day i hope valve capitalizes on the games potential, its so amazing already, it would be truly magical if the game was able to grow into what it could be

This was a stupid rant but i want to thank you for making this video. Thank you very vey much
Wow, Jungle inferno was also 2017? Looking back 2017 ,might have been the best year I can remember, every time I look into it, it turns out most of my favorite thing were getting updates, being released, or getting trailers dropped in 2017, I mean heck that was the year the Nintendo Switch released. That might be the best year of the 21st century.
I am 24 years old and I have experienced almost every single update TF2 has ever had. I barely play nowadays but I do still come back to this gem every once in a while and play for a few weeks. It is truly sad it got abandoned.
I've experienced a few casual servers where the enemy team was all bots. But it only lasts about 4-5 minutes before they all get removed/ banned simultaneously, then the real players flood in. Keep it up Volvo! 👍
I joined the community only a few months ago, but this game is so charming and delightful, I genuinely want it to get some attention from Valve again. There are few things quite like it, and it deserves to be preserved.
A 17 year old game, old games=mess to program and fix and stop Cheats, even 2015 games have this problem. But although so many problems, the community stays strong, this game LITERALLY GAVE ME SCHIZOPHRENIA
The bug fixes, bot bans and the 64-bit update (which improved a lot particularly on Linux) makes me think, personally overly optimistically, they are making improvements behind the scenes.
I started playing this game when I was 11. My family didn’t have money for WiFi, so I would sit against our living room window to steal our neighbors WiFi.
Even if they dont give us a big update(which i doubt their reputation with having cheaters in most of their games caught up with them), having no bots around and an upcoming comic is still a big step in the right direction
Every now and then I get burnt out on the game, and maybe I'll take a few months off, maybe even a year...but I always come back. This game has utterly captivated me, and until the day the servers are dead, I'll always have this wonderful game to call home.
I'm really worried the TF2 community will become complacent in updates that contain only bug fixes, unusual effects, maps, and cosmetics. TF2 is so much more that community content only.
I don’t think they will, their main priority was the bot and bug fixes, just to make the game PLAYABLE, and many of the community don’t stop talking about the fact they don’t update the game, i have hope
I have 17 years and i am worried i will never experience a tf2 update in my life, i am about to end high school and tf2 hasen't received a mayor update for all those years
I have been playing TF2 since almost its release, I started playing back in 2008 and have experienced all the golden age updated and events. Valve is pretty much just using it as a money printer now, the passion in the community has never been higher than it is now, but valve doesn't really care as much as they did back in the day.
hopefully they don't make major balance overhauls if they start doing major updates again. just doing things like trying to make the pomson a little more viable is more than enough, I don't want them to change what the best things are cuz this game is super fun in the way it's currently balanced (even with outliers like the jarate/mad milk/wrangler).
Whatever you like it or not developers will move on from a game sooner or later. In that time, you either continue playing the game for what it is or you ether move on when you had enough. Play tf2 for what it is, not for hopping to get something new.
@@Basuko_Smoker pretty much all gamers know of them. While casuals at least saw their characters. It's in the public's concious at the very least. Concord, on the other hand, no one even knows them outside of gaming circle
@@Capiosus I Perfectly know, made my Steam account in 2011 just to install TF2...But people around me barely know that this game even exists and they 80% at least completed a couple of AAA titles (i Guess that qualifies as average gamer?)
Tf2 at this point is like a stranger stranded in time after surviving for so long that everything changed so drastically that you're just a relic of another time.
I’m betting now I’m be in my 30s or 40s (or dead) when the next major TF2 update comes out (I’m 3 years from finishing high school if y’all want some more sense)
TF2's major updates when they would launch it seriously felt like waking up on christmas morning. My favorite major update they did back in the day was Love and War, the fact they changed the ability to have up to 8 taunts at a time was insane and not to mention the addition of more weapons some good some bad but they were new. I hope someday valve goes back to how they used to be with making their own updates and maybe adding some new weapons but the possibility is extremely slim. One more thing I'll add is I wonder how much more different the current state of tf2 content would be with Heavy winning the Pyro vs Heavy update thing, like imagine the new weapons and balance changes. Sadly we'll never know what they would've given heavy in his own update.

Looking back 2017 ,might have been the best year I can remember, every time I look into it, it turns out most of my favorite thing were getting updates, being released, or getting trailers dropped in 2017, I mean heck that was the year the Nintendo Switch released. That might be the best year of the 21st century.
Idc whats gonna happen All I want is just to call the freekin Medic
You know what's underrepresented to getting added to TF2?
WEAPON RESKINS
They’ve always been a strange case to me…
Damn i lost hope for major updates like in old age. but damn 20+ employes ? are we back ?
I am 24 years old and I have experienced almost every single update TF2 has ever had. I barely play nowadays but I do still come back to this gem every once in a while and play for a few weeks. It is truly sad it got abandoned.
We were promised a Heavy Update😢
The sound Track at the end of the video brought me back so hard
I've experienced a few casual servers where the enemy team was all bots. But it only lasts about 4-5 minutes before they all get removed/ banned simultaneously, then the real players flood in.
Keep it up Volvo! 👍
Great work, I am so surprised they are getting kicked so fast.
this vid is so freaking COOL
Awesome video. Lets hope Valve will preserve this beautiful art piece for years to come!

I joined the community only a few months ago, but this game is so charming and delightful, I genuinely want it to get some attention from Valve again. There are few things quite like it, and it deserves to be preserved.
A 17 year old game, old games=mess to program and fix and stop
Cheats, even 2015 games have this problem.
But although so many problems, the community stays strong, this game LITERALLY GAVE ME SCHIZOPHRENIA
Yooo profle picture brotha
The bug fixes, bot bans and the 64-bit update (which improved a lot particularly on Linux) makes me think, personally overly optimistically, they are making improvements behind the scenes.
I started playing this game when I was 11. My family didn’t have money for WiFi, so I would sit against our living room window to steal our neighbors WiFi.
I just realized the last time they made a big update was when I was 3 years old😢
edp445 has joined**
you were 3 years old in 2017? go play roblox
Bro is 8 lmao
Even if they dont give us a big update(which i doubt their reputation with having cheaters in most of their games caught up with them), having no bots around and an upcoming comic is still a big step in the right direction
I can see 3 years later: Happy No-New-Update in 1 decade anniversary Valve!!
Every now and then I get burnt out on the game, and maybe I'll take a few months off, maybe even a year...but I always come back. This game has utterly captivated me, and until the day the servers are dead, I'll always have this wonderful game to call home.
I don't even think killing the servers would take TF2 away from us, it will still exist on the internet, our hearts and in community servers.
After 9 years of abandonment, hopefully it will have been worth the wait.
this intro is gold tier
meet you in a few years.. mates..
That intro hit different
"7 years. i've always been 7 years."
I have 17 years and i am worried i will never experience a tf2 update in my life, i am about to end high school and tf2 hasen't received a mayor update for all those years
chess players arent worried about updates, they simply play. be like chess players
@@itchylol742 compare chess a gameboard game with tf2 a multiplayer online game with hats and cosmetics and made by a multibillon company is wild
@@itchylol742 okay yea but they didnt delete the bishop before they left. and chess getting updates wasnt part of its whole thing
I have been playing TF2 since almost its release, I started playing back in 2008 and have experienced all the golden age updated and events. Valve is pretty much just using it as a money printer now, the passion in the community has never been higher than it is now, but valve doesn't really care as much as they did back in the day.
"It was rigged from the start"
dude that intro was deep as F***
Players want a new TF2 update but Valve doesnt, the company wants to move on. Deadlock is a good example of that.
Pretty much exactly this. Most people want to work on new projects to build up their reputation and have fun with rather than TF2
Yes and people seem to want to play Deadlock more than TF2 as shown by the fact that pre-alpha is so popular lol.
maybe the update is the friends we made along the way
fire
@@vintagememelord8168 your profile + "fire", implies the original commenter gets hit with a firing squad
that intro actually fire tho
hopefully they don't make major balance overhauls if they start doing major updates again.
just doing things like trying to make the pomson a little more viable is more than enough, I don't want them to change what the best things are cuz this game is super fun in the way it's currently balanced (even with outliers like the jarate/mad milk/wrangler).
An incredible intro my guy. Good video!
Seven years eh ? Another day older and deeper in more crates.
See yall in another 7 ish years if Valve still does nothing
well?
@@vintagememelord8168 Nothing yet, perhaps 7 more years ?
dont want a key but thats supreme commander 2
As someone who’s recently gotten back into TF2 and has been playing Counterstrike it sucks to see the neglect they’ve received
Whatever you like it or not developers will move on from a game sooner or later. In that time, you either continue playing the game for what it is or you ether move on when you had enough.
Play tf2 for what it is, not for hopping to get something new.
I’m going to continue enjoying this game while I can, no matter what Valve chooses to do.
thank you
*In 2 more years* "I'm afraid it's been.. 9 years."
3:05 the answer is one. Summer 2023 is officially listed as a major update in the patch notes
Ain’t no way 💀
3:36 the Janitor and the plant.
Concord would kill to get a fraction of fame TF2 has. Yet Valve just leaves the money on the table...
Idk how true IS that, some people that Play games on and off (not daily) still don't know tf2 even exists, even less so than its made by valve
@@Basuko_Smoker pretty much all gamers know of them. While casuals at least saw their characters. It's in the public's concious at the very least.
Concord, on the other hand, no one even knows them outside of gaming circle
@@Basuko_Smokerif you haven’t seen any tf2 characters then you haven’t been on the internet
@@Capiosus I Perfectly know, made my Steam account in 2011 just to install TF2...But people around me barely know that this game even exists and they 80% at least completed a couple of AAA titles (i Guess that qualifies as average gamer?)
@@DanDaFreakinMan oh yeah, if I mention Concord nobody even knows if im talking about a game or a band of some sort lmao
Tf2 at this point is like a stranger stranded in time after surviving for so long that everything changed so drastically that you're just a relic of another time.
Check description, typo!! "no received" So silly!!!
I will live before the next tf2 update comes out because i HAVE UBERCHARHE -medic
"14 years without valve."
that moment when a youtuber actually had a good childhood 😮
Oh boy, here we go again.
I’m betting now I’m be in my 30s or 40s (or dead) when the next major TF2 update comes out (I’m 3 years from finishing high school if y’all want some more sense)
Gonna start uni next year.
I'm gonna finish uni int he next 7 years
TF2's major updates when they would launch it seriously felt like waking up on christmas morning.
