While I like your take on the song you missed that last verse when Ozzie, the singer talks about the judgement of God in the lyrics as " Satin's laughing spreads his wings" because Satin knows that God judges world leaders much harsher than regular people so in the end the song shows justice in the spiritual world. My favorite band since I was 14 years old. Now 72 and still love them. In this day and age with the various music genres out there I sincerely thank you for reacting to this classic. Black Sabbath to many is the godfathers to heavy metal. This band Iommi, Osbourne, Ward, and Butler are all looked up to by just about every band of the past 50+ years. Thank you again for the reaction!!
They are the originators of heavy metal. While their earlier work doesn't sound as 'heavy' to modern ears, all 'metal' traces its roots back to Black Sabbath. In 1970, this sounded really heavy.

I would agree in regards to the live performances, but for those hearing this song for the first time, I think this is the best place to start. As it enhances the song as it brings the lyrics front and center, when you have kick-ass live performances, sometimes that may get lost in the musicianship(I normally can't focus on anything past Bill Ward killing those drums). Thank you for your beautiful reaction! 7th october was the Black Sabbath, and this song made a huge difference in the world. Not stopping wars but telling people to make a difference between the leaders of a country and the people inside, some are accountable, most are not. As an example i have a friend playing in a metal band, he had to play in Israel before the war and had a lot of comments on it. But he and me both agreed that even how much you dislike some leaders, one should always support the people that love the music as they most likely disagree with the government. Those people actually needs the music more that those in a free country. I hope this song gave you the feeling of being supported by music, to get somewhat comfort from it, not all humans are evil! Just as information for "younger folks" I would say, that most people, who grew up listening to this music was indeed LISTENING to it, since music videos rarely existed. This kind of music was rarely on TV anyway!. We all "created" each our own images in our brains listening to this!? I do not recall having ever seen a video of this! I was 15 in 1970 btw!

This is my favorite Sabbath song and so easy to play on guitar. Which most their songs have really catchy guitar riffs that are fairly easy to play because Tony Iommi, the lead guitarist lost several fingertips on his fretboard hand right before the band got started and he had to invent his own prosthetic fingertips.
Use to listen to this song ( album ) when it first came out. I was 15 to 16 years old. We would listen to it high on weed and tripen on LSD. It was crazy.
I think it does do something. It changes the hearts of those who have them, people who understand pain and refuse to be convinced 'those innocent people over there' need to pay for it.
I hope you are both well! I so appreciated Carol’s message that there is far more that unites us than divides us is the key - that is the power of music - it brings us together and has all of the answers to life’s mysteries - if only we could put it all together and figure it out. Anyhow, here are some of my favorite anti-war songs “If You Tolerate This Your Children Will Be Next” by Manic Street Preachers - The title of the song says it all. “Zombie” - The Cranberries. - Such a powerful song - the official video compliments it perfectly “All We Are Saying (is give peace a chance)” John Lennon and Yoko Ono / The Plastic Ono Band - this is a up beat song with a simple message that I think we should all be repeating over and over “When The Tigers Broke Free” by Pink Floyd - not a typical PF song perhaps but the death of Roger Waters Father in WWII “Fortunate Son” - Creedance Clearwater Revival another commentary on who really goes to war (and pays the price). “Gimme Shelter” - Rolling Stones - feature Merry Clayton a female singer who adds such haunting vocals to the song. “One” by Metallica - anti-war and a Metallic classic how could you go wrong? - the official video just makes it just that much better. I hope this list helps you process your emotions and circumstances (and keeps your rage burning at the nonsense going on). Though I am half the world away, I think of you two often and hope for the safety of you and those you love. With much love ❤️ from Canada.
I am glad to see you are both well and safe. I am not sure whether you will like this but I would recommend a song by Sepultura called Territory. The music may be too heavy for you but I think you will find the video and lyrics interesting. Take care.

Black Sabbath is the first metal band.
And the hardest of hard rock bands. They were the bridge.
Geezer Butler was quoted as saying the 1st metal song was the Beatles "Helter Skelter".
@ I’m won’t argue that point.
But, one could say that Blue Cheers cover of Summertime Blues is the 1st metal song.
I think it does do something. It changes the hearts of those who have them, people who understand pain and refuse to be convinced 'those innocent people over there' need to pay for it.
This was jaw dropping music when it first came out back in the day too!
❤ blessings sent, and may you know lasting peace and love.
I hope you are both well! I so appreciated Carol’s message that there is far more that unites us than divides us is the key - that is the power of music - it brings us together and has all of the answers to life’s mysteries - if only we could put it all together and figure it out.
Anyhow, here are some of my favorite anti-war songs
“If You Tolerate This Your Children Will Be Next” by Manic Street Preachers - The title of the song says it all.
“Zombie” - The Cranberries. - Such a powerful song - the official video compliments it perfectly
“All We Are Saying (is give peace a chance)” John Lennon and Yoko Ono / The Plastic Ono Band - this is a up beat song with a simple message that I think we should all be repeating over and over
“When The Tigers Broke Free” by Pink Floyd - not a typical PF song perhaps but the death of Roger Waters Father in WWII
“Fortunate Son” - Creedance Clearwater Revival another commentary on who really goes to war (and pays the price).
I' m so sorry for what is happening in your homeland.Stay safe!
I am glad to see you are both well and safe. I am not sure whether you will like this but I would recommend a song by Sepultura called Territory. The music may be too heavy for you but I think you will find the video and lyrics interesting. Take care.
You both need to check out a song from Edwin Starr called WAR came out in 1970 same year as war Pigs
Just as pertinent today as it was back in 1970 when Vietnam was going on Peace and Blessings to you both
