Riptide 25 Micron Bag is Great for Fine Dirt! Retire Your System Vacuum Today!

- Let me first say that I have used a lot of different vacuum system micron bags. One of my all-time favorites is the Riptide 75 micron bag because it is perfect for leaf debris as well as some fine dirt. I’ve used 60-micron bags from Riptide and other manufacturers and these were very good at removing fine dirt. But their new 25-micron bag is really amazing for a number of reasons.
Let me just get the fact that there is some resistance in the bag because of the very fine micron mesh. This means moving the vacuum from the spa to the pool with the 25-micron bag on will be a slower process as the air takes longer to evacuate. Also, the bag does get full quickly with the fine dirt so you may need to stop and empty the bag in the middle of vacuuming the pool. Not a major drawback when you consider the benefits.
The number one benefit and the reason Riptide even came up with the 25-micron bag was that they want to eliminate the need for system vacuuming or manual vacuuming as we called it in my day. With the 25 micron bag, you will not need to system vac a pool again. That means no more 2nd service cart or hauling a 50 ft pool hose and manual vacuum head back to a service account. The amount of time this will save you by just using the Riptide at all your service accounts will pretty substantial. Even if you have to stop once to rinse out the 25-micron bag once before finishing. Or better yet, carry two 25 micron bags and just swap them out.
You can make a pretty good comparison between the 25-micron bag and a pool filter or a robotic cleaner. For example, the Polaris cleaner will filter down to about 60 microns. The dolphin robots to about 20 microns. A Sand Filter will filter down to 20-40 microns. A Cartridge Filter down to 10-20 microns. So at 25 microns, any visible dirt will be picked up by the bag, leaving the pool dirt-free and spotless. It is really hard to think about a vacuum system bag with the ability to pick up dirt like a robotic pool cleaner but the 25-micron bag does just that!

Thanks! I bought your book brand new and it's been helping alot.
Thanks for reviewing the 25/75 micron. I will give the 75 a try.
75 micron is great!
With the hammerhead head one I have to be careful about how I put the hammerhead into the pool to not get any air puffed into the bag or it floats or pops off. And also I have to empty it so much or else it will just shoot back out due to no flow in the bag. It becomes more of a hassle than just using the vaccum hose and head to waste if available.
Thank you for this video.
Glad you found it helpful.
@@SPL I absolutely did. What bag type would you recommend for picking up sand and dirt?
@@Roy_Boy4.1 My favorite bag is the 75 micron. It doesn't fill with air and it picks up fine dirt and leaves as well.
Does the 25 micron bag capture spa calcium dust from salt cell reversing?
Yes. Even their 60 micron bag will do that as well.
My riptide seems to just blow everything around at the bottom of the pool. Is there a way to fix this?
It could be that if you are using this bag you need to stop more often and empty it.
@Swimming Pool Tips, Reviews & How To - SPL what a pain.
Will the 25 micron bag pick up dead algae dust
No. That is too fine for it.
Where do you purchase the 25 micron bag? Riptides own website only shows the lowest bag at 65 microns, unless I am missing something.
Email them - they should have them in stock but maybe not listed on their site.
Does the bottom feeder handle fine dirt?
Not without the cartridge attachment
I'd like a similar device for home use but with a cord so there are no batteries to schlep. Does such unicorn exist? My pool & spa have a lot of fine dirt falling from the garden near by. and I feel that those automatic robot won't get it all, especially in the spa.
I have seen this device but have not tested it yet. thevacdaddy.com/
@@SPL Thank you for the info. I cant' find any reviews on it and for $1600 I definitely need feedback.
I'll most likely end up with a BottomFeeder. Thank you for all your great reviews.
Do they clog fast?
It all depends on the amount of the fine dirt. I would say in a 15,000 gallon pool with light dirt you will need to stop once to empty it.
Is there a bag suitable for dead algae?
unfortunately no.
Is riptide vac selling it already ?
Yes. You would have to email them for it. I don't see it on the site yet. sales@riptidevac.com
Does the 25 micron also pick up algae?
It will but then it clogs up quickly.
Since it clogs quickly, would the 75 micron be better for algae?
@Geneva Watson nope no vacuum in the market good for that always use your pool vac to waste for algaes
Awesome thank you I just emailed them. I wouldn't have known that sold them if it wasn't for your video.
I'll be the 1st one to tell you this bag does not work. I ran it all throughout last year of 200 and all. It did was spit the dirt back out and it was not even as powerful the finer. The bag is the harder the riptide throws everything back out. I'm not a fan of the riptide. I sold it this January just because of that reason and the fact that the riptide is heavy as h*** and hard to put on the bag.
Gotta know how to work the bag. I have no trouble with it. I do have some trouble with the bag stopping up when I try to use it as a dust vac as apposed a debre vac as it was entended.
I'm curious to know what you replaced it with?
