Thanks for watching, glad you enjoyed it!
Really insightful opening statement by Dr. Michael Brown.
What this debate helped me understand was that Cessationist don’t believe that God doesn’t heal today…
They take the position that God is healing not because of any particular person, but in spite of the person making the prayer and/or laying their hands over a person.
However, if there is any possibility that God could respond to a person’s plea and/or have compassion over a person who is asking God for a miracle then there is a pretty strong argument for the gifts still being in play and active for today.
“If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will the heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!””
Luke 11:13 ESV

Thank you very much
This interview was a frustrating watch. Between the technical issues and the loose grip on stucture to allow the arguments to make their case and point in response to one another, it felt really disjointed. I was really looking forward to a decent point for point exchange, but alas..it was another berage of touch points that never get answers, and theres no time for context. I was let down.
I would have liked to hear about how the church was historically cessationist, until the early 1900's I think. Tell me why that is? Was there some revelation given to someone outside of the bible?
I don’t know if you will find it by searching for “historical cessationism” but what I do know is that Daniel Long on the channel LongForTruth1 has done many fair deep dives into the history of the charismatic church (and the leaders) in America (as well as looking at various “revivals”) if you’re interested in starting somewhere.
You're incorrect. There is plenty of evidence regarding the gifts pre 1900.
With the birth of Pentecostalism. That's where all of this began..with their obsession to reenact the day of Pentecost (a one time event in Church History) in every church service.
@@songbird9444 Not really accurate. The practice of the gifts pre dates the pentecostal movement. Pentecostal brought in the belief of initial evidence with the speaking of tongues and the baptism in the Spirit being a secondary experience.
@@tpw7250 What miracles were recorded after the Apostolic age?
