    Based on my understanding on how the battery pack works, if you start your car, your battery pack will be charging and at the same time provide power to the dashcam(passthrough) and when you turn off your car, the battery pack will still provide power like if your car is turned on and will continue recording until the battery pack juice is depleted. Correct me if I am wrong, but the way you explained it if you turn off your engine, it will engage your dashcam into "PARKING MODE" which basically means its the equivalent of just hardwiring your dashcam into the fuse box directly.

    • @dial2fast
      @dial2fast  Рік тому +1

      The output wire of the battery pack to the dashcam has 3 wires: battery 12v, ignition 12v, gnd. When ignition is on, the dashcam is powered by the ignition 12v wire. When ignition is off, it's powered by the battery 12v wire. So the dashcam has 2 different power input source. The battery pack will automatically switch the output power from one wire to the other (depending on ignition on/off). The dashcam will sense which power it's getting, and switch between normal recording and parking mode recording. So the dashcam does not do normal recording when ignition is off. Also this logic is same as hardwiring to fuse box BUT with a battery pack, you will never be draining your car battery and putting wear on it.

    Hi, is the rear camera cable running on the top edge would be blocking the side curtain airbag?

    Nissan says to replace the clips on the A pillar trim panel whenever it's removed. I assume you didn't have to do that with yours. Since putting the A pillar back, have you noticed any creaks or issues? Also, did you pull the entire A pillar panel off, or just leave it hanging by one clip?

    • @dial2fast
      @dial2fast  Місяць тому +1

      I don't have any rattle or noise from the A pillar. For the install, I just pull out the top part to run the wire.

    Thank you so much for this video! I'm about to install mine for a Viofo A129 pro duo with the same battery. But mine came with an online power cut-off select on the output wire going to the dash cam. Is that normal? If so, what voltage should I set it on?

    • @dial2fast
      @dial2fast  11 місяців тому +1

      I think you are referring to your A129 hardwire cable having the cutoff voltage protection circuit. If you are installing a dedicated dashcam battery to power the parking mode, then you can set it to the lowest voltage setting.

    • @turborsx5740
      @turborsx5740 11 місяців тому

      @dial2fast thank you for your reply, yes I'm installing a dedicated dash cam battery for it. I was just making sure I got the right wiring they provided. Because the only time I used that voltage cut-off switch is when I had my car battery run my dash cam

    Will that cable going to the rear camera interfere with the side curtain airbags? That could be very problematic in an accident.

    • @dial2fast
      @dial2fast  8 днів тому

      As stated in the video 4:20, run the camera cable 'behind' the side curtain airbag, and not in front.

    • @the_astronaut_x

      @@dial2fast I meant at the B pillar. Isn't there an airbag there?

    • @dial2fast
      @dial2fast  7 днів тому

      @@the_astronaut_x There is only one long side curtain airbag running from the front to the back. The other airbag resides in the side of your front chair.

    • @the_astronaut_x
      @the_astronaut_x 7 днів тому

      @dial2fast That long side airbag is what I was referring to. I saw that you did run the wire behind the side airbag at the A pillar, but not for the entire length. I am only curious because I saw another guide that explicitly said to run the cable through the floor panels to avoid conflict with the side airbag.

    • @dial2fast
      @dial2fast  7 днів тому +1

      @@the_astronaut_x Most dashcam's rear camera cable is not long enough to run it down along the floor. If your dashcam's wire is long enough, then install it that way.

    for the rear camera, could you pass the wires though the cables bundle that goes from the cargo door to the roof? or would that be very difficult to achieve without doing some damage to the plastic components there?

    • @dial2fast
      @dial2fast  Рік тому

      You can run the wire through the factory wire loom between the headliner and the hatch, but it's really not worth the trouble (in my opinion). Sometimes dashcam die and you have replace it and sometimes you upgrade it. The removal and reinstall time you spend to hide one wire is not necessary. The only time you need to do it is if you are mounting the rear camera outside the vehicle. If you want to see how it's done, you can watch one of my other video: ua-cam.com/video/px2j46md6e8/v-deo.htmlsi=jLV0VP_qBKdOEa7f

    I need your help please. I have a 2020 hyundai santa fe and cig 12v fuses are under the hood and i don’t want to go through the firewall to install a blackvue power magic B124x.
    There are fuses under the dash that have accessories that my car isn’t equipped with. 25A rear seat heater and 30A power seat switch. Is it safe to use either of these so long as they don’t have constant power or do these fuses have too high Amperage?
    If so can should i use a 15A or 20A in the second space of the fuse tap?
    thank you for your help.

    • @dial2fast
      @dial2fast  4 місяці тому +1

      You typically don't need to run ignition power from engine to inside of car. You can get the ignition power from the fuse box, but with some modern cars, those unused circuits might not be activated via the BCM computer. That's why you have to test it with a multimeter to be sure. You mentioned power seat fuse, this is usually constant 12v. The seat heater fuse should work as it is ignition 12V. The higher amperage is perfectly fine to use. You just have to put your own rated fuse in the top slot of the fuse tap. The fuse you use just need to be higher rating that the rated current of your device. Meaning if the battery pack consumes 7A max, you can use a 10A or 15A fuse. These are all fast blow fuses.

    Does this model Nissan use the accessory power pigtail like the '22 and '23 Frontier? It's a pigtail you purchase from Nissan that plugs into a harness under the kick panels (either side or both with two pigtails). It has quite a few circuits you can plug into including a B+, IGN+, ACC, Bat Saver, RF/LF/Rear doors circuits, etc. When I installed a new mirror and dash cam into my Frontier that pigtail made it easy and, they are all fused circuits from the factory.

    • @dial2fast
      @dial2fast  Рік тому

      The Nissan Rogue does have the factory accessory plug. You just have to be careful with how much current the accessories draw so you don't overload the factory circuit.

      Dashcams don't last forever. They often die after couple of years of use. No need to spend all that time routing one wire in the factory loom. This way of installing it is the smart way to go. If I was installing a backup camera or other accessories, definitely route it in the loom. At the end of the day, your car, your choice.
