Aussie Snake owner here! Luca the Carpet looks more like a Jungle than a Coastal. There's a lot of cross-breeding between those two species though, and it's almost impossible to find one of either species without a relative of the other species somewhere in their lineage. But he looks a LOT like a Jungle.
Upvoting and commenting so they see this! I'm sure they'd love to know this information. Thanks for teaching me a little more about carpet pythons too :)
Could we say he’s a mix between a jungle and a coastal? Mines most likely a coastal - unsure as he’s a rescue, but mine has a beefier face and darker colouration, Luca’s cheeks are beefy but his ‘snout’ is more pointed and he’s quite dark but much lighter towards his head, jungles are brighter yellow in colouration and have that more pointed shnoot from what I’ve seen also?
watching from the start of the facility to now makes it feel a little bit like my baby too! Which is maybe dumb but it's amazing to see how far it's come, you guys have put your hearts and souls into it and it really shows!
I still say it would be awesome to have a invert cave, "camp-in" where you invite kids and one of their guardians to have a all nighter learning about the animals. Then, after all the nocturnal animals are learned about, everyone gets their sleeping bags and has a sleep on the cave floor! You could have little tents set up as changing rooms and get smore related treats for a fun little snack. I think it would be AMAZING!
yessss! when i was in primary school my grade got to go to an aquarium and sleep there and it was the coolest experience! 10/10 sleeping in zoos is a fun idea

I'm glad to hear that you are planning on night tours, I suggested the same thing a while back. I think that night tours will prove to be popular since it will allow guests to see animals that are normally only active at night actually out and doing their thing.
I fondly remember sleepover events my school held when I was a kid. We played games and had a bonfire until late at night, then we all got out a sleeping bag and just slept on the floor and on the desks in our classroom. This would be a fun idea for little kids and they could watch all the nocturnal animals. Only issue I see is that I don't think the retail area can be closed off?
Luca's story is so heartbreaking! I'm so happy all those animals ended up with you guys. The zoo just keeps getting better and better! Congratulations!
Luca looks like a jungle and coastal hybrid in my opinion, his head isn't chunky enough to be any other carpet but not quite flat or angular enough to be a pure jungle. That sassyness will probably go away after a bit more handling, but carpets do love to eat!! I love you guys and have been following you for quite a few years, my goal is to visit the zoo one day. Please keep up the good work and I'll look forward to the next video!!

I love carpet pythons and have been keeping them for decades so I am happy to see one in your zoo and what a lucky snake to have ended up in your care!
The croaking was making me so sleepy, even though the video was super interesting. Makes me think of summer nights at my grandparents place out in the countryside, especially after a good warm rain, so nostalgic

I love the thought and care you put into creating the perfect enclosure and choosing the right snake for it too. It's so nice to hear you considering the snake's personality and their comfort with people etc before popping them into the zoo.
Hello Ed and Emily, i am an Australian snake enthusiast and i can positively tell you that Luca is most likely a Jungle carpet python due his colouration, pattern and my experiences with most jungle carpet pythons having an attitude. Ps love the videos keep doing what you are doing sincerely, your subscriber, Baizl

So cool to see that carpet up high. I would guess (from my limited carpet experience mind you. I only had some for a little while) that he is either a brighter costal carpet than I usually see. Or a jungle crossed with a costal because I have seen those pretty often too.
Very cool you got a Jungle carpet! I have had my going on 3 year old Jungle carpet Ms Marple for 2 years now and never see her on the Vivarium floor. She eats hanging and drinks from her pool hanging, always hanging around. Cant wait to stop in again! Paul.

Have a trip planned next week for Tinley and the zoo is on the way! So excited to meet all of the lovely bois
If you have a Christopher Turk you -need- a JD, too! :o
Scrubs is a great watch.
As someone that follows Chandler & Tyler... I am excited to see the new venomous species. You guys handle everything extremely well. Just keep being safe!
I still remember you showing us the building when you first purchased it . Its been a long mad few years . But look at it now . I'm so happy for you guys . 😃
My hognose climbs a LOT, when I got her a new enclosure people were confused about how much height I gave her until they saw that she spends about half the time up there 😂
I wish mine did, he spends all his time in his burrows. I hope that changes when I switch to bioactive
I love carpet pythons and have been keeping them for decades so I am happy to see one in your zoo and what a lucky snake to have ended up in your care!
I am amazed how far you have come I have been watching for a few years now and I am proud
I just love how she has so many cool snakes and that we are also both named Emily!
I love your videos Ed and Emily :D you make the most educational content, but its also so entertaining :))
Im whereing a pich pick pickchu
The croaking was making me so sleepy, even though the video was super interesting. Makes me think of summer nights at my grandparents place out in the countryside, especially after a good warm rain, so nostalgic
Yayyy happy snaakes~ Also, happy me, seeing my sticker on one of the bins (the black and gold intertwined demigod serpents)!! Curious whose bin that is, hahaha.
I love the dialogue written for all the animals, cracks me up. Especially Luca's.
i honestly wish that one day i can come up here with my family and visit this place, it looks so wonderful and amazing-
Luca is so cute! I'm so glad he found such an amazing home! He really deserves it!
I love you guys! I can’t wait to visit sometime!
I love the thought and care you put into creating the perfect enclosure and choosing the right snake for it too. It's so nice to hear you considering the snake's personality and their comfort with people etc before popping them into the zoo.
I would love an evening tour. That’s so cool
I am soooo proud of how far you have come! I remember watching back when you were building the Zoo. Good job to you, your husband and the crew!! 🥰
Hello Ed and Emily, i am an Australian snake enthusiast and i can positively tell you that Luca is most likely a Jungle carpet python due his colouration, pattern and my experiences with most jungle carpet pythons having an attitude. Ps love the videos keep doing what you are doing
sincerely, your subscriber, Baizl
It's sooo cute watching sparkles doing the faint at 10:21
I love this channel so much! Every time they post my day get so much better!
Every time you post it makes my heart jump! I love your videos so much I get so hyped when you post a new video!
I’m so excited for y’all you make such great quality videos and work so hard!
I think my favorite part is around 13:55 when you see Lukas eyes and their sparkling cause of the light and he looks so happy
John "J.D." Dorian is the main character on Scrubs, and if you don't watch Scrubs, you're missing out! It's on Hulu.
You two have come so far with the zoo. So proud of both of you. Your doing a great job.
I think the solution really needs to be that Ed & Emily watch Scrubs! Seriously, how have you guys not watched Scrubs?!?
Watched this from 2017? Maybe before than, and wow, I'm so so happy and PROUD of how far you've come and how much you've grown! You deserve all of this!
aww poor Tiny! It's a shame he feels uncomfortable and wont eat in his zoo enclosure, but im excited to see what you put in his enclosure in the meantime. I'm sure you can find a really aweome rescue reptile or two to put in there
Ahhh, it’s a good night when I get to watch a new Snake Discovery video. And the videos fly by so fast. Can’t wait for the next one!
So cool to see that carpet up high. I would guess (from my limited carpet experience mind you. I only had some for a little while) that he is either a brighter costal carpet than I usually see. Or a jungle crossed with a costal because I have seen those pretty often too.
We're pretty sure he's a cross ;) Nobody has been able to confirm though!
@@SnakeDiscovery Maybe those DNA testing folks you had an episode about recently will eventually have a test for that.
@@SnakeDiscovery Yeah. That is just my guess. But it is almost impossible to tell.
Oooh I love emerald tree boas! I did a report on them in third grade, and fell in love in the process of doing research. They’re so pretty.
10:20 at night. Ready for bed. However Snake discovery comes first
Also an aussie snake owner. Luca looks far more like a jungle than a coastal
Awesome! The zoo looks great!
I love the idea of having a night tour to see the more nocturnal species! So cool
Living for the scrubs names!
Visiting snake discovery is one of the things I want to do in my life lol! Can't wait to bring my whole family there someday..
Ally is sooo cute
I was just there yesterday! My dad and I were the first to put a pin on Alaska on your map!
Very cool you got a Jungle carpet! I have had my going on 3 year old Jungle carpet Ms Marple for 2 years now and never see her on the Vivarium floor. She eats hanging and drinks from her pool hanging, always hanging around. Cant wait to stop in again! Paul.
Carpet pythons are native here. I have two living under my house. Love them.
I got teary seeing Luca go into his new enclosure. God bless you guys 💕
You haven't watched Scrubs? Totally should, it's great! (And I barely watch anything...besides UA-cam xDD)
Luca's story is so sad! I'm glad to see him happily exploring his new home :3
Luka totally looks like an eastern carpet python x a Jungle python. Such pretty snake 🐍. Poor lil man has landed in a great home.
