    Why do stupid test like this.
    The Viper as longer gear ratios and wider tires. I mean really......
    Why not race them like you're supposed to do????

    • @AutoYoung
      @AutoYoung 10 років тому +2

      Because, it's been fucking done. We see normal car reviews and comparisons all the time. This is just a fun lil test outside of the norm. It's just for the hell of it. Ever heard of something called "FUN"? Damn.

    • @ohgodwhat1
      @ohgodwhat1 10 років тому

      The vipers gears are actually identical(62 mph in first gear) and the rear tires are only 10mm wider...but I agree its still a stupid test.

    • @AutoYoung
      @AutoYoung 10 років тому

      ohgodwhat1 Well you get these two together, do your own scientific test Thats been done to death by everyone and say the same things they said while those of us with a heartbeat go outside the norm, knock some tread loose, and have some fun!

    • @ohgodwhat1

      Auto Young Oh I would do the same thing lol However, the test is still pointless and doesn't prove anything. Fun to watch though

    So the viper has more torque but a shorter burnout. Hmmm..... viper has better traction.

    Thank you for the clarification I was too Lazy to explain.In Allpar's words "The original V10 was reportedly built with Lambourghini’s help; the basic engineering was Chrysler’s, but Lambourghini worked on cooling, crankshaft balance, weight reduction, and fine tuning. The manifolds, oil pan, heads, and accessory drive; the compression ratio raised, the pistons lightened, the engine speed increased, valves enlarged, rods and crank strengthened. Few components were shared with the truck engine."

    The Viper has bigger tires that's why it has more traction. Corvette tires are smaller so there's less grip, that's why it keeps spinning. How hard is that to comply? This isn't a measure of performance this is just for fun.

    @BEBNC1 yeah i definitely grant you that one. in a drag race the winner is the one with the steadier right foot at launch (luckily the new vettes get launch control. we'll see what happens when the viper returns in 2013, probably packing about 700hp). and around the track, its all about the setting. if there are long straights the vette will take the ACR. if there are lots of corners, the ACR will take the vette. circumstances and driver skill are really de deciding factor between these two.

  • @JETZcorp
    @JETZcorp 13 років тому

    @929ish Um... it's a burn-out test. There was no handling involved. In point of fact, a car with a better-handing chassis will, if anything, do worse in this test because a car that puts its power down to the ground effectively will want to accelerate, rather than laying down rubber.

    i dont know about all of you but this is all we got. dodge and chevy vs the world. a viper and a vette are all we have to take on every other company out there. so we have no choice but to battle them so they can both become better. they are what they are now because of each other. look it up. they deserve each other.

    @sw1000xg What about the new car and driver lightning lap just published:
    CORVETTE ZR1 - 2:51.8
    Gallardo lp570 Superleggera - 2:51.8
    CORVETTE Z06 CARBON - 2:53.5
    Murcielago LP670 SV - 2:53.9
    F430 Scuderia - 2:54.6
    Nissan GTR - 2:55.6
    Porsche 911 GT3 RS (thats right GT3 RS!) - 2:55.9
    Nurburgring is a decent comparison point, but is too vulnerable to error from driver endurance, fatigue, and skill due to the extreme distance.

  • @sp33d4l0l

    It was developed at the time when Chrysler owned Lamborghini, so basically what they did was take the biggest truck engine block they could find and sent it to Italy with the message "get some horsepower out of that". Mulktiair tech, however, is not in this Viper, so on that point you're correct :)

  • @ViperSRTnACR

    These cars weren't made to bounce the rev limiter like that. Start in 2nd and feather the brake and the throttle if you want to get long skid marks without bouncing the limiter risking damage.

    @Edrox5000 well said. the rings time are solid though (all optional equip w/sport cups for 2012) they also have alot less rear downforce than the viper. I prefer the vette (b/c of growing up with them). I'm definitely a fan of the viper which i believe was truly ahead of its time in 1991. GM/Dodge have perfected the ohv. just to many gun slingers that talk crap with no knowledge to back it. i see that you are not one. good deal. any given day of the week these cars will out run each other.

    That might make all the difference if the Z06 Carbon was actually only running 295's. It is in fact running the following spec's according to Inside Line:
    Tire make and model Michelin Pilot Sport PS2
    Tire size, front 285/30R19 87Y
    Tire size, rear 335/25R20 94Y
    There are probably other factors affecting the burnout results...none of which really matter because it's a silly contest anyway, much like your comment. :)

    @800hennessy No the Carbon would murder a regular SRT10 at the track. Vipers other than the ACR are notoriuosly uncontrolled on the track, where as the Carbon has ceramic brakes, magnetic suspension and a perfect weight distribution with 200lbs less than the Viper.
    There's a reason the Corvette has been around since 1953 and STILL IS TODAY. Viper's only looked cool the Vette will always be America's sportscar.

    @norulescrew6636 Z06 has 3.42 gears and viper only carries 5.7lbs/hp and the Z06 carries a much heavier 6.3lbs/hp. The viper acutally has a large power to weight advantage. Tires almost the same (PS2 sports on both) with the vipers only being slightly larger but the Z06 using larger wheels. The 06 Z06 turned 7:42 on the ring and the 520hp 05 viper turned 8:10. The 2010 SRT10 hasn't been run on the ring but is expected to be slower than the Z06. The carbon is expected to be round 7:30ish.

    @Kamukix Yea I saw that in another comparison video, I think it's 100km/h (62mph) or so in 1st gear. I don't know what the Vette would do though, but it would be great to see what both cars could do in 2nd gear. I imagine they would both still fry the tires, but maybe an unfair edge to the Viper with a 2nd gear test...maybe.

    @zoomboy28 That's odd. When I was at the Corvette museum a few weeks ago, I saw the ZR1 used to set the 7:26.4 record and it was sitting on a worn set of MIchelin Pilot Sports. Not race slicks. Doesn't matter that much, the 2012 ZR1 set another record at 7:19.63 on Michelin Pilot Sport Cups. Bye bye Mopar.

    @SuperSuprastar chrysler* if you are gonna insult them please do it properly. (no offense) and i don't know if you've read, the viper was discontinued yes. but it's only temporary. they are making a completely new viper for 2013. new chasis, new engine, suspension, etc. etc. it will still undeniable be a viper, and will still be powered by a v10. the suspension and stability control may very possibly be tuned by ferrari. I'm still unsure on that last one though but that's what i've heard.

    @BEBNC1 well personally i'm not a big fan of the vette. i only like the new GS. 15mm doesn't sound like much but it makes a big difference. the ZR1 and Z06 were running on R compound tires (the ACR wasn't) and the ZR1 had non stock equipment on it. i have all respect for the vette and what it's capable of, but i just prefer the viper. it's more out there, more unique.

    @Edrox5000 my favorite part is after 1:48. "way less rubber"? Z06 P330/30ZR19 Viper 345/30ZR19 I don't think 15mm is WAY more rubber and the viper has a huge power to weight advantage (Viper 600hp/3400lbs only has to carry 5.7lbs/hp and the Z06 505hp/3200 carries 6.3lbs/hp) so i say its a fairly even match up. I love the viper but sounds like you don't care much for the vette. The Z06c and ZR1 finally got the mich p cup tires like the viper ran on the ring, the Z06 got 7.22 and the ZR1 7.19.

Id say 75% of the engines at the drag strip are chevy's. and that meaning chevy motors in chevys and in fox body mustangs and other stuff. they are the most common used and built motors and in my experience, very reliable and very easy to get parts for

    They could do the burnouts much longer if they would dump the dump the clutch and shift again at around 20-30mph and go through 2nd gear. I'm pretty sure both cars could do it as my Corvette does it pretty easily. Only using 1st gear limits wheel speed.

    I highly doubt it. Corvettes and Vipers aren't really considered muscle cars so it's tough to say. What makes the definition even harder is the fact that there are a lot of muscle cars that theoretically shouldn't be muscle cars, For example: the Buick GN and GNX, they have v6's, some people consider the 80's Aston Martin v8 vantage as a muscle car. But the Mercedes? Well.. it meets all the criteria of a muscle car but it lacks something, I just can't put my finger on it..
