Yep, Dorian from Dragon Age Inquisition is gay but he's also a traitor to his radicalized people that gives you a peek into their culture. Both the norm in that country and how these radicals altered it. They have a different divine figure, blood magic is considered fine so long as you limit it's use to your own blood and people who willingly volunteer to help you with whatever you are trying to achieve. He also states that there is a lot of infighting and political scheming but they also have the Qunari to deal with on thier border so he views the south as pansies that don't have that same looming fear of war so they can turn their nose up at magic. Him being gay influences how he interacts with romance and, if you don't romance either of them, he hooks up with Iron Bull and they have a hilariously quippy relationship. That's also entirely optional, if you don't want to hear it just don't have them in the party together and use one or the other.

As a newer fan (past 3-4 years) it’s also sucks. Days worth of hours spent learning lore and just as I make the jump to the table top the game is potentially destroyed. However I’ll just have to find or cultivate a play group that adheres to old lore and disregards new lore in an attempt to build our own universe.
I also feel for the long time fans having invested years and thousands of dollars into the hobby to have it retconed like this.

There's a reason why women cannot be space Marines, let alone Adeptus Custodis, their body just could not handle the extreme rigors and surgical modifications needed to be able to transform into a space marine. that's why women have their own group, the Adepta Sororitas which goes through their own extreme training and rituals which are very different from the Adeptus Astartes, and the Adeptus Custodes. For one thing they have less surgical implants, and they focus more on unwavering faith and devotion to the Emperor that they are able to channel the psychic energy of the emperor into themselves to become superhuman fighting machines! This is why it does not make sense for women to be in the Adeptus Custodes! End of story!
Plus, their genetic modifications are keyed towards being men anyway, since the Emperor intended to make them solely male their implants will only work on boys
Fun fact, not one female has started playing 40K because of female Custodes. I have played the game since 2012 and can count the total number of females on one hand. With a thumb left over.

It's because these companies are run by executives who are trying to achieve infinite growth (realistically impossible) and line their pockets with all the money. Long-term sustainability is never in their agenda. If the company goes under, they jump ship and parasitise a different company. They also have no game plan and chase trends that they think will give them money. Not to mention being in the exclusive rich guys with yacht club also meant that they are very out of touch with what's really happening outside their ivory towers, so they do actually think all these DEI is actually going to make them a lot of money.

I am seriously getting tired of modern games all being bad dating sims. Like, ffs dating sucks in real life. Why TF would I want to have a sad excuse for a love affair in a game that isn't a sim game? Dying Light 2 did this bullsh*t with every god damn NPC talking about their pathetic dating life. I get that the left hates the nuclear family so they never want to have an MC that already has a significant other, let alone children, but this never-ending focus on the potential love connections that your character can have in game just makes me want to throw a controller at a wall.
I'm a typical guy. I like shooting things in game. I like when things blow up in game. Hell, if my character finds a romantic connection along the way to blow things up, all well and good. But, ONLY in that sense. I do not want it to be a focus. These games are made for a male audience but with the goal of only getting women to play them. These idiots are killing the games by mixing audiences too much.
Its like BG3 every character wanted to sleep with my character to the point where it was creepy.

Which is why little blips like this that come from a single instance of a brief side story are irrelevant and should have no impact on people enjoying the hobby. If people are honestly leaving the hobby because of this, then they were already on their way out.
Female custodes are fine, so long as you don't cook it into some sort of ''message''. Delta+ psykers are like 1 in a billion people, and there are quite a few of them that exist. I am sure that at least 1 in a billion females can handle all the trials and modifications and become a custodes. But the thing is, she is going to be exactly the same. A genetically modified killing machine, square jaw and low voice, pectorals larger than breasts, female only in name, gender is completely irrelevant at that point. Pick any existing custodes miniature model or concept art and call her Martha, that is how I personally view the ''there were always female custodes.''

I find it remarkably interesting that they make changes for people who don't play games, don't buy miniatures, don't buy books, or anything else that doesn't come from their local mega corp. Instead of making the people who actually give them money happy.
The do however make the changes for the people giving them money. To get investment you need to check off quite a bit of checkboxes and being woke are a fair number of those. It's not about customers, it's ab out the up front money to even make the game.

Fortunately I don’t have to buy another GW product, I can draw the line for GW Classic and GW Woke. Any future PC games I buy will be based on DEI Detected. Having ‘incidental’ characters hasn’t been an issue, don’t need it crammed into every possible moment. On a side note, I can’t wait to sacrifice any woke characters pushed on me in the future.

The idea of Blackstone buying a manga group sounds a little idiotic. Attempts in the past to sell "Woke" manga resulted in very poor sales in Japan. It's ironic as well since Japanese manga can actually already have LGBTQ+ themes (that's left up to audience interpretation); they're just not embracing US/European ideals. I don't see Blackstone gaining much in this, especially if the Japanese (and just about everyone else) know that a US company purchased it and intends to spread its ideology through it. Your example for representation isn't even a good one given the setting, in 40k a gay guy would keep it a very closely guarded secret - for the very simple reason that people get boltar rounds for even the smallest thing in the setting.
It should actually have narrative consequences for gay people in the setting, with the main actions of gay people being either constant fear or turning to slanessh. However the LGBTs do not want either in their story because they want warhammer to be a safe space.
I like how the Warhamerra Rights Holders caved in to Amazon to make the film, but in the end they only dealt a serious blow to the guarantee of its creation.

AI is the definition of bias. Training and coding of AI involves it making decisions set on a baseline of criteria which themselves have build in bias. AI is then allowed to refine it's expertise based on these foundational concepts and is weighted to reinforce them.
