For MS, I think it’s likely they want to get ahead of policies from an incoming Trump administration who has campaigned on ending DEI.
For a lot of other companies they do have fiscal responsibilities to investors. But the legality gets more murky when large investment groups who push DEI have a controlling share of the vote within the corp.
Microsoft hasn't removed anything, they're just rebranding their DEI under a different name.

Something that makes me a bit optimistic is the internal email announcing this. If they had "we're rebranding DEI as BRIDGE" or something I'd be worried. In the internal email itself, it said it was no longer good business to have a DEI department. So fingers crossed

I think it's absolutely HILARIOUS how they say that DEI is "no longer smart", as if it ever WAS. They really can't admit when they make a mistake, can they? The egos on these people....
It was smart because they received loads of money from Black Rock etc. However now the money isn't there anymore or not as easy to obtain. Since the games aren't profitable and they've blown their load from BR, they are cutting corners until the next big thing takes over which is BRIDGE.
I do hope this BRIDGE flops from the start. Seems it's been a work in progress for a while, and is now slowly creeping into a lot of companies. If we can continue playing the game of vote with your wallet, eventually it will have to come to a full stop. This is of course just what I think.

Ash is an example of why many in my family consider Americans a joke. I feel that deep down, Ash knows she is privileged to live in the States, a place that grants her freedom of speech, she knows that she would be screwed if she made similar statements in other countries, but she will never admit it because, in her mind, that would mean admitting defeat
Not all Americans are like that. As an American myself, while I don't hold any hard feelings towards your family and I even understand where they're coming from, they are wrong. Those like Ash make up the very loud but very small minority. Like maybe at best 4% of Americans. Majority of Americans are not like that.
Matter of fact, a lot of these people are not just Americans. Some are Canadians. SBI is located in Canada, so just be aware. But yeah, Ash is definitely a silver spooned privileged brat. She does not represent the majority of America.

If you're saying Trump is that electrician to the plumber job, you couldn't be further from the truth. When Trump was in office, we had the best economy we've seen in a long time. I have a friend who works in a furniture store, and he could tell you the difference between the Trump and Biden presidencies is day and night, respectively. It started with tolerance, which extended into the misconception that tolerance meant acceptance. You tolerate things you do not like, you accept things you do like.
The assumption that gamers tolerated the DEI agenda meant they accepted it has led us here; people have reached their limits of tolerance and are now proceeding to the next phase, which is to reject.
I am in it for the long game. I think the DEI office at microsoft is either undergoing an acronym change, is being outsourced, or is being directly integrated into their individual teams. I'm pretty confident that the DEI office was not the only part of the company filled with insane ideologues.
If these companies want my money, then all they need to do is start producing good games again. They spent the better half of a decade loosing my trust, and I suspect it will take at least as long to regain it. Similarly with Sony; until they shutter their entire CA office I will not purchase their products.
It's funny that the SBI people (and their allies) STILL can't understand what the problem people have with them is. They say they didn't intentionally try to ruin games, which I believe, but they can't seem to grasp the idea that their meddling and influence is something that a lot of gamers don't want in the gaming industry. They're simply to self-absorbed with their own desires and agenda to realize lots of people don't want what they want.
Only the part about Jack Black isn't true. Jack Black didn't just cancel his tour and put his band on hold. The venues that he had booked to play at cancelled his shows and refunded ticket sales, not Jack Black. He again uses sleight of hand to seem altruistic, while the cancellations had nothing to do with his feelings.
Them claiming that we're not gaining ground against them is just proof that they have no idea what's going on outside of their safe spaces.

When I was watching the video I saw an ad that said DEI must DIE, and the crazy thing that I saw in that was when the guy that used to work at Hasbro, but then he had to go to a meeting and it involved DEI about them saying ridiculous stuff like of a white child develops racial thoughts at like age 3 or 4 and when I heard that I was like what the hell.
I think we’re going to start seeing more of the the East dominate the west. They are taking advantage of the woke void. Look at games like first descendent. Look at those characters. Then compare it to concord. Which live service do you think is going to do better? People need to stop denying the fact that things like aesthetics, themes, colors, character faces, and so on don’t matter. They so do. It’s what catches your attention to wanna try a game in the first place. Do you know why so many people are trying first descendants? It’s because of those characters. Then they find out it’s actually fun. But if those characters look like western woke characters, no one would want to try it in the first place. So where these things matter is that initial appeal. How can you expect somebody to try your game when the cover itself is unappealing? Do you know why they say don’t judge a book by its cover? Because we do.

couldn’t get enough of it, beautiful story, strong male role model, and great combat. I am hesitant to even give Ragnorok a chance because I have such high expectations from the 2018 version. Curious to know 😮 I don’t want to fall in love with another story line and be disappointed in the inclusion crap if it is inserted later :/ just want a good story and a good game. Don’t we all?

The gameplay is all risk and no reward too with that Souls like difficulty so you don’t ever feel as powerful as you want to compared to how destructive the moves feel in the originals.

Then the people find out you made things worse and there is more outrage from normal people. It’s a double perpetual motion machine, one side does something, the other side responds with outrage, the first side doubles down and does more of what they already did, the other side responds with an equal amount of outrage, and the loop repeats indefinitely, perpetually, or infinitely. I’m pretty sure South Park pointed this out in the Into the Panderverse special. The extremes on both sides keep fighting each other and the fighting makes nearly everything worse.

All this woke dei stuff started out small. First it was making women in video games less attractive. There was likely a sales dip, but the games still made a lot of money. The game developers very stupidly thought they could still make money by averting the male gaze and doubled down. Meanwhile Microsoft and Xbox put out new consoles that pushed development cycles to 7-10 years, now they have a pipeline of games too late in the development cycle to meaningfully fix. The cost would be so high, that even if it was a hit the games would still loose money.
Studios got greedy, pumping out live service games they thought would be a money printer for them and failed miserably.
We are looking at a gaming apocalypse on the same level as Atari- e.t the extraterrestrial.
Were DEI programs ever "profitable" to begin with? Paying salaries to glorified HR jannies seem like an unnecessary expense to appease the terminally online that were never going to consoom product to begin with.

The time for moral high ground has come to an end, a really long while ago, because every time that we said enough they would always push us off the cliff.
Forgiveness is possible but they have to make things right in as big a way as they messed it up. We can't bring nack the studios they've shut down or the developers they've pushed out so a large public apology, donating money to based studios like Larian and a few years advocating for gamers will make them alright in my book.

Different content creators are taking a different tack on this, some quite sensibly are happy at the prospect of undoing the damage the left have done these past years, at returning to a more moderate status quo. But others are showing their true colours as they smugly fantasise not over media returning to being the free and open platform it should be, but over the notion that the shoe is going to be on the other foot, they relish the idea that they are going to get their turn to be the big bully treading on the other side. That worries me.
Here's a tip for people like Jack and his group, follow the advice your parents should teach you, if you have nothing nice to say, don't say anything at all, if you would've kept silent on it due to how big of a thing it was, you would've had no issue.

In regard to the Jack Black portion of this video. His statement/apology is "too little, too late". On camera he laughed at the statement when it happened. Jack should have made a statement denouncing Gass's statement right then and there. For two reasons.
1. Glorifying/Wishing/Praying for the deletion of another person is wrong, there are no exceptions, PERIOD.
2. They are entertainers. The stage is not the place to soapbox your politics, regardless of which side of the fence you are on. You are paid to entertain, not to spout off politics.
Moving forward, I will not monetarily support anything Jack Black is associated. And no that isn't cancel culture. That is me choosing not to support someone that doesn't value human life.
