    Just had this problem, and I probably only dryfired a handful of time (less than 10) and it was enough to cause a dent in the barrel. Contacted Ruger who stated that they are not meant to be dry fired as it’s a rimfire. When I asked why does the manual say it’s ok to dry fire, they said I needed to talk to customer service to have the gun be sent to them and ignored the question I just asked

      The whole situation with that gun is weird. Good news is they'll let you trade it for something else.

    Got the same dent..firing pin lasted about 4500 rounds..ruger sent me a new one..running good..I did dry fire on a spent case but I don't any more..I just live fire now..that's why I got it lol

    Hope they give you a new one, or at least a 100% fixed gun. I've dry fired that pistol quite a bit and fired a couple thousand rounds through it with no issues whatsoever with high velocity stuff, even bulk ammo. At least Ruger's customer service will eventually do right, even if it is frustrating.

    I have a love hate thing with this pistol. I would never trust my life to it, yet I'll never, ever sell mine either. I hope you are able to her one where you will feel the same.

    My husband bought me this pistol for Christmas. The ammo kept jamming, so I called them and they asked me what kind of ammo I was using. I told them Winchester, the guy told me they had a problem with this ammo. They sent it back to me and it still jammed. They told me the second time, that they knew that Winchester did not work in this pistol. I told them that was the reason I got this. My husband has a ton of Winchester 22LR ammo, and I got this gun for practice. I did not want to buy all new ammo. Sent it back a second time and they were going to send it back to me, saying they could not find a problem with it. I asked them why they didn't use the same kind of ammo I used. They said they knew that Winchester did not do good in this pistol. I asked them why they didn't put a disclaimer on the gun. My husband would not have bought me this one. But, Ruger's customer service is AMAZING! They sent me a different pistol that would work with my ammo. My new one is great and have no problems with my Ammo!

      @@debbiearchibaldIt's great that Ruger sent you the SR22 and that would be a great choice for someone who has a boatload of Winchester .22lr ammo sitting around, but many of us bought the lcp2 .22 for a pocket/ankle pistol and each lcp2 22lr is so idiosyncratic that we just don't have the time to test out every permutation of ammo brand X grain X velocity to finally settle on a reliable carry ammo. I'm thinking of just getting a .32acp instead.

    Fired 100 thunderbolts through our lcp ll yesterday with zero issues...the gun was pretty dirty before cleaning, and I left it pretty wet after cleaning, as the gun just likes being run wet...sure, the excess oil does grab dirt, but the next cleaning will be the same as always, the alternative is failures to feed, eject, etc. ...the other trick is running ammo the gun likes, and surprisingly thunderbolts are the best for cheap, routine range work...the gun never carried, but in a pinch 36gr mini-mags would be the ammo of choice, as they run real good, also...it took a lot of ammo testing to find the best options, the last 100 round tests are 7 for 7, and I can live with that...

    I also dry fired this pistol a bunch and recently replaced the barrel with the threaded barrel version and none of the 4 brands of 22lr would fire. I haven't tried shooting it again with the original barrel, but was curious if a new barrel could cause failure to fire malfunctions. Also, I now only use snap caps after watching this.

    I have a Norinco SKS and a Taurus TH9. Ive dry fired both and both are still 100% on. Thats the beauty of center fire.

    Best rule of thumb is never dry fire a rim fire. There are a few that will not have a problem but most will drive the firing pin into the top or side of the chamber. This will deform the outside of the chamber until it is deformed enough to not allow cartridges to be loaded. Always use snap caps. I like the A Zoom brand the best. About $12 per package of 6

    • @livefree5997
      @livefree5997  2 роки тому

      Honestly it didn't need the springs. I should have just took a grinded down the metal were the firing pin was hitting. If I would've done that, it would have been perfect 👌.

    I see you got the LCR instead. What are your thoughts on this for carry assuming you never dry fire w/o snap caps, install the spring kit, and do the polishing? It's for my gf who really can't handle any other caliber due to hand/wrist issues. Obv .32 acp just isn't an option right now. Thanks! sub'd!

      The bore is actually exactly centered. It just looks off center because of the shape of the angles left vs right of it are different. I think it’s for the extractor to be able to reach the cartridge rim but not sure why.
