Amazing Dankeschön
I really do appreciate that you actually shown us what will happen if the mixture is wrong and also provided us with the solution to fix it. This is what a tutorial should look like. Thank you ma'am.
Glad it helps!
The dos and don'ts are very important in the demonstration. I love it. Thank u so much. ❤
My pleasure!
Thank you so much for this tutorial!!! I tried your recipe after failing with another gum paste recipe that ended up with lumps of tylose and the paste was way too stiff.
Your recipe is very easy and foolproof, plus your explanation was on point, I had no issue in any step and was done in only a few minutes. I only made half the recipe and used 75 grams of egg whites and everything turned out great! Thank you!!
This is my to-go recipe. Super easy and fast. I am so glad you like it too!
Do u remember the halved ingredients???if so could you please share it!
@@ruzaikanajeemdeen6059 I will be honest, I don't ever do half of the recipe. I know people that do. All you have to make sure is that if at the royal icing stage you feel the mixture is too dry, you can always add a bit more egg white before adding the tylose.
Thank you so much for showing this! I am new to gumpaste and being able to fix my mistakes will only help as I move forward. 🙂
My pleasure!
This was so great! Thank you so much! ❤️
Thank you so much for the very detailed tutorial maam. This is all I need.
Thank you. I use this recipe ever since I learned making my own gumpaste and I learned from you.
Hope you enjoy
I made some today, its really nice. I find the shop bought is a bit dry, so this was perfect thank you 💕 💐
It is my favorite recipe. Glad you like it!
This was an excellent tutorial. I learned a lot.I will have to make it keto but I can not thank you enough for making this video. You are an amazing baker!
I wouldn't worry too much about making it keto. Usually I use gumpaste for decorations I don't eat.
OK thanks, Edna!
Can I cover my cake with this
@@lisajovita6637 This is not meant for covering cakes. I have a recipe to make white chocolate fondant if you want to try that.

Thank you for once again a great tutorial,in my case I mostly use the eggs white that come in the carton (eggs beaters?) How should I mesure this to have the equivalent?
They have their own measurements on the carton. Make sure it's 4 egg whites. Make sure to shake the container well also. I never used them and heard some people that had success with it. Let me know how it goes!
Edna De la Cruz thanks once again!! I will let you know!😎🤗
Is it flexible?

Thanks for the tutorial! Amazing! :)
I have some other questions. Can I pre-color it? What kind of food color? Gel or powder? Again, thank you Edna!
Yes you can, add the color at the royal icing stage.

A la orden! Hay gente que usa el CMC. Yo particularmente no lo he usado.

Yo prefiero usar gumpaste. Tiene un acabado mas fino.
Great tutorial 👍👍 thanks
thank you so much for sharing this. I tried it and it was very easy to work with. superb recipe ❤
Glad you liked!
Es la receta que yo uso tbn .. Me encanta!! Pero no he podido conseguir tylose, y tengo cmc disponible, le pongo la misma cantidad ?? Como puedo sustituilo ? Muchas gracias ❤❤
It should work. If the quality of the gumpaste is not as good then check tylose but CMC should work fine. You can read more about it here: designmeacakeblog.com/2017/12/05/tylose-gum-tragacanth-gum-tex-what-are-the-differences/
Can I store my already made roses in the fridge, if so for how long?
Don't store gumpaste flowers in the fridge, They will melt. Place them in a box with paper and store them in a dry area
You can store them in a box for a year, don't put them in the fridge.
Tq
Excellent tutorial!!!! Dear Edna I will make the half of the recipe to try it. Because I am placed in Europe (Romania) I can't find Cisco so my question is can I use margarine? I will use this gumpaste for making flowers (I think it will work good). Last question: do you scrap from teaspoon the extra Tylose or just leve it as much as it on? I learn to made roses watching your tutorials. Love you and wishing all the best.
I wouldn't use butter. Is not the same. I am not understanding your question about the Tylose. Can you rephrase it? Thanks for the complements!
As usual love your tutorial thanks edna

Hola Edna quiero agradecerte por compartir la receta pero quiero saber por cuánto tiempo puedo guardar este gumpaste porfavor y bendiciones/gracias!!
En la nevera dura por alrededor de seis meses.
Muchísimas gracias Edna!!
awesome vid very well made and managed keep it up
I realy love to watch you make gumpast I try half the recipe and it came out so good, but I notice it can,t stay for long it dry out, but I like it verry nice.
You always have to make sure you seal it well so it doesn't dry.
Thank you. I learn a lot❤️
Edna, can you please tell me if you add Tylose to homemade fondant before you put on a cake .
I don't usually add tylose to fondant unless I am making it myself or the fondant I am using has a strange consistency and I need to fix it.
is it ok to use hand mixer?
So simple thanks...
Thank you ma'am for this wonderful tutorial.. Pls I want to know if I can use a hand mixer... Cos am yet to have a stand mixer.. Thanks
A stand mixer is your best bet. If you use a hand mixer just make sure it can handle the dough. Also, you have to keep in mind that the royal icing stages require around 7 to 10 minutes of mixing.
I’ve bought gumpaste before (I know I know this was before I found your videos) and I reuse that airtight container to store mine. Gumpaste and fondant can be so intimidating if you are new to the world of cake decorating until you conquer your fear. Thank you for your videos.
I used to buy gumpaste too. I think when you start is good to get to know the product and how it feels. Eventually you find out what works best.
Thanks for the complements!

sonia sweet yes
Thanks for the steps by step recipe
I haven't got a paddle with my mixer so can i use the wisk instead
I honestly never tried to make my gumpaste with a whisk. My guess is that it might get all stuck in the whisk and it might be harder in the machine. If you try to test it, make sure to either mix the tylose manually or if you decide to use the whisk, make sure to move fast getting the dough from the mix so it doesn't dry.
What about a dough hook? I think that can be used also
Thank you for the tutorial, God bless!
Hi should i store always in the refrigerator or after one hour i can place it in a container and keep it always out of the fridge
If I am working with it, I leave the amount I use out of the fridge with no problem. It can stay out of the fridge but in the fridge will last for around 6 months. I tend to grab the amount I need and leave the rest in the fridge.
Thank u so much. This is the best tutorial ever
My pleasure!
Great tutorial! I made this when you puta out the first video. I knew 12 tablespoons was too much tylose. I figured you made a typo.
Well, I did mention it was 12 teaspoons but that nobody listened..lol The typo won! I even put annotations on top of the typo and still people saw the typo more than the annotation. I gave up! lol But The video was old and I wanted to do something better. Back then You Tube allowed only certain amount of length in the video and these days they let me do longer videos so I can give better explanations :D
Ma’am, I want to know how I can correct my gum paste. I did not knead my gum paste after making it in a stand mixer yesterday. And today it is very very sticky. It has been a day since I made it, can it be corrected by adding icing sugar ?
Add sugar and see if you can fix it. I never let it stand like that for days but is worth trying.
I am from the Philippines thank you, for sharing. Your recipe is magnificient.
My pleasure 😊
Hi. I am not sure if you still reply to questions about your gumpaste. But i am going to try. I used the whisk/beater attachment instead of the paddle attachment in making your gumpaste. Can i still use my gumpaste or do i need to start over? Please help. Thank you.
I do reply but I broke my ankle and was having a hard time moving. I’m
Back!
Hi, I have a question ... can I use this paste to make sugar lace? 😊
Not really. It's more for gumpaste flowers and other details.
Great tutorial 👍😊
Hi, can you tell me how much sugar you put first time in the eggs? I know you added until the finish. Thank you! xx
The full recipe is written in the website. I usually reserve around 1 cup but more or less should be fine. Once you start kneading you can add more sugar until it gets to the right consistency. Here is the link to the recipe.www.designmeacake.com/tylose-gumpaste
Thank you! How much does a jumbo egg weigh? My chickens lay large eggs but I'm sure they're not jumbo..
You can use x-large or jumbo easily. X large is 2.25 ounces and jumbo is 2.5 ounces average. But if you are not sure, you can see in the video that it's not a difficult fix.
thank you so much. Gum paste is the only thing I've never made from scratch. I'm going to give it a try. Maybe today. I have to make a single orchid. lol. So will use it tomorrow, once it's settled.
Good luck with it!
Kindly let me know how long can we keep this gum paste decorations ?
I let them dry in an open space and once they are fully dry you can store them in a dry box. Make sure it's not in a hot or humid area. Well stored they can last for years.
Does it get moldy after it has dried up? How long can you store it after drying the gumpaste figures/flowers?
It doesn't get moldy. I live in FL and gets humid here. I just keep the AC running as sugar doesn't do well in heat. I have never had issues with mold but if you have issues with mold in your area just make sure to keep it stored in an area that is not hot and it's dry. I have pieces that are more than 10 years old that still look as pretty as the first day I made them. You have to make sure you store them properly. Let them dry fully in an open space for at least a week and then you can store them in a box. I prefer using carton as it breathes and put it on a bed of foam.
Edna De la Cruz wow! 10 years! Thank you Edna! I really love your tutorials! You really make it easier for beginners to understand! 😍 😍 😍 😍
I started my You tube channel when there was not a lot of information in You tube for cakes. I did it for my students so they could have the information. I love teaching beginners! I've been teaching for over 22 years. Love my newbies!!!
Edna De la Cruz about to do a ruffle cake would the gum paste be ready to use immediately after kneading?
I love your gumpast recipe I have try it Nd it came out well thank for your teaching have a great day.
I am glad you liked it!
it's a great video, I really like it! You say that the gumpaste products must not be put into the fridge as they melt. But if you've decorated your cake with the flowers, you normally store it in the fridge before it is delivered to the client, don't you? it means that the whole decoration will get soft or damaged?
Hmmm, good question. 🤔
If you must refrigerate the cake, then don't put the gumpaste decorations on yet, but wait until it is out of the refrigerator or delivered... Just arrive a few minutes earlier to put the finishing touches on.
I don't place my cakes in the refrigerator once they are covered. They sweat too much where I live and gumpaste details can melt. Some people put the cakes in boxes and wrap them in plastic to avoid this problem but I work with wedding cakes and doing that is a bit difficult. I work with American Buttercream and it does well outside the fridge. I just make sure I have AC running. The fillings use are usually to stay outside the fridge overnight.
Do you have to refrigerate it after it's done being made and before you use it?
Do you rest it in the fridge or just anywhere?
You can use it but sometimes if you see the dough is not smooth, the rest time does help with that. Give it at least a few hours even if it's outside the fridge. Make sure it's well sealed.
Thanks Edna nice recipe n well explained
It's my favorite recipe!
Edna, you are very talented. Please, I have tried to make a rose too, but the material melt in my hands. From bottom of my heart I am bagging you to tell me if your recipe of gumpaste is good enough to do rose and other flowers from your channel. Thanks in advance, I love what you do, you are really amazing!
The recipe I share is the one I use and love. If you are working in an area with a lot of humidity I would suggest to make sure you are not working in a hot area. Make sure you have AC running and if the humidity still high then you might need a dehumidifier.
@@EdnaDelacruz Thank you very much, Edna! Congratulation on your amazing creations! For me, you are the best!
@@MariaDumitrescu-fo7pt Thank you so much. You are so sweet.
I dont have Tylose in my area. Can i use CMC and get the same results? Am really struggling with Gum paste recipe.
Some people do the exchange and seemed pleased with it. I can't say since I haven't tested it myself but I love this gumpaste recipe.
Hi Edna. Thank you for uploading this tutorial in detail.
I hope you can help me. I made a mistake in measuring my tylose and may have put 1 teaspoon more than required. Now my gumpaste is hard to work with. How can i fix this? Help please. Thank you.
You can try adding another egg white and kneading it into the dough but I would prefer to do a softer mix of the gumpaste and kneading it into it. You can even do half of the recipe.
Can i half the measurements of the ingredients and make it?
And also once its made should i wrap and leave it in the refrigerator or jus at room temp? Plz reply
Yes you can half the recipe. Place it in the fridge to rest. You can bring it to room temperature or do 10 second increments in
the microwave to bring to room temperature.
Edna De la Cruz thank u sooomuch for the reply. Wot I actually want to know is weather i can store it in room temperature? I live in qatar and its really hot here so what should i do plz
@@inshiranizam1637 You need to be careful about heat. Gumpaste is harder to work in hot environments. I work with it in a
room with air conditioner. Yes, it's best for it to be stored in the refrigerator if you live in a hot area. Sugar and heat is
never a good mix
Edna De la Cruz thank u soomuch for the clear explanation ♥️👍
Thank you sooooo much ❤️
Thank you!
I wants to know after making the flowers how long i can keep out side.
I leave them to dry fully in an open space for the least a week (depending on humidity). You want to make sure they are fully dry before storing them.
hi chef edna. im curious if i dont have microwave what can i do to make it usable
Take it outside the fridge and let it get down to room temperature or just warm enough that you can knead it until it softens.
I just love how you do your gumpasy flowers, but I am bit confuse about your portion when I watch your teaching thanks very much.
The amounts for the recipe are posted on the website. The link is above.

Sorry I missed your comment. It really depends. Sometimes if it’s too dry you can add a bit more egg white
Can i use cmc in the absent of tylose
Some people do and they like it. I never done the exchange personally.
Do you use pure powdered sugar? Here we have 2 types. Pure Icing sugar and Icing sugar mixture ( powdered sugar + Corn starch ) Thanks.
It's best to use powdered sugar with less cornstarch. But you can test the other one to see how it works for you. Just keep in mind to follow the tips I wrote with the recipe in the website so you get awesome results.
O.k thankyou for your advice
I'm curious to know what if u add less gumpaste to the recipe could u then use it to cover a cake like fondant ?
No, even if you add less tylose, it will not be as tasty. I do have a white chocolate fondant recipe in my channel or you can check my website!

@@EdnaDelacruz Okay. Thanks!
I have checked your ingredients and there is one thing i got confused about.. "1 - 2 lb. bag 10x powdered sugar" can you please be specific..thank you
Usually confectioners sugar will come in a 2 pound bag. I found bags in amazon that are 4 pounds but you only need around 2 pounds for the recipe. amzn.to/2xiUBLj
noyflipz 10x refers to confectioners, powdered or icing sugar (all the same thing). 10x means it’s been crushed ten times over to make it powdery.
