Dental care is expensive. Dental insurance covers next to nothing. So we avoid the dentist until something happens. Thank you very much for being concise and informative.

There are two things that both dentist and lawyers have in common: First both complain that there are two many of us in practice. Second many that desperately need their services simply cannot afford the. The typical high co-pays or co-insurance together with ridiculously low annual balance limits makes most dental insurance products useless for many with low income. Most dismaying of all, many plans exclude coverage of dental implants, which is truly a breakthrough innovation for long term dental health and function!

Ive had Delta for about 15 years. If i got back all the money I ever paid them then that would cover all dental work Ive ever had done. Don't waste your money on Delta. I don't know if there is something better since I pay delta through my employer. You actually are better off just getting rid of Delta and taking the weekly/monthly premiums and putting them into your own account. And im not having $5000 dental surgery just normal teeth pulling. A $1500 a year maximum cap and they might cover 60% of the bill. Thats like trying to feed a tiger with a cheeseburger. Not nearly enough. finally got tired of it after i had to cancel my last dental appointment to remove 2 molars because the insurance would barely cover half the cost.
"Delta Dental is simply the best, which is why 60 million Americans make them their choice for dental insurance." If that statement is really true than thats the sorriest statement about the dental insurance industry. Done with it.

I was almost going to sign up and I knew that the same would happen. The insurance agent was very rude and acted like I had to sign up immediately or I won’t have coverage. She was pressuring me because they are desperate

Folks tell me that Mexico is the place to go...high quality, pay cash, and much less expensive as a result.

But will the taking the days off, time and gas or ticket still be worth it?

I'm lucky that my employer covers 100% of dental and vision (plus 95% of medical). Though I don't pay for dental premiums the insurance still only covers 50% of crowns which is a very common procedure. Crowns can easily cost $700-$1000. And if you're elderly and on Medicare or Medicaid most plans only cover basic cleaning and x-rays.

The best dental insurance is brushing, flossing and using a water pick every night before I go to bed. I'm learning this lesson the hard way. Also, I have to stop eating sticky candy like cinnamon bears and taffy. Every time I start eating those thing I get cavities and root canals.

I’m paying for vision and dental and I haven’t gone for a checkup in years and I don’t think I need a “checkup”. Like it’s it all necessary? I stopped using commercial toothpaste and toothbrush.

Just go a foreign country, nobody dies of a broken tooth ,in Mexico there is a city on the border with the US, Molar City, where the main business there is fixing teeth, you pay cash but much less than in the US,

A dentist telling us how expensive insurance is. . Talk about the pot calling the kettle black. As she isn't guilty of the same thing.
