Good coverage, fillings, crowns, good percentage coverage. They claim 60% off treatment 10 is dental insurance worth it. It depends how much you come to the dentist. If you only go for some cleaning, few stuff per year, it’s not worth getting insurance. If you go a lot, then yes. Your welcome
My dentist wants to charge above the negotiated rates for crown work. This is the 3rd dentist that rejects doing the work for the rates set by the insurance. Although in-network, they aren't willing to do the work as they don't make the expected margins. I don't mind paying a small % above the rate but their markup is way above the insurance rates.
You can go online and check the fee estimator. Delta dental and Met life have that capability. I have done this for 24 years and the dental insurance is not your friend. The insurance is a for profit business, so they are looking at their bottom line. I know this sounds crazy..but sometimes self pay is the best. Pay yourself and not the insurance company.
Caps cost to the dentist last year was under 50 dollars. I found out, they spike those charges up. I don't know if their practice is new or few patients with bigger needs, but it makes me ill when I pay 1,400 for a cap that is too much, a temporary is made in the office so it's not costing much
Thank you so much Dr! I am a Dental Assistant making a switch to the front desk as a Administrative Dental Assistant. This has been very helpful!!!!! Specially understanding the difference between insurances, and explaining to patients. Am starting to mild billing too. It been a lot of help this video 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
I made the mistake of not researching DVH plans so my insurance agent talked me into one for $57.10 per month, $785/year with $100 deductible paid each year with a max of $5,000 covered services. After I received the plan details in the mail I canceled the policy the next day. The insurance agent didn't mention the waiting times for coverage and the percentage of coverage per year for the first few years. Max coverage for major dental services is only 60% after 4 years. Max for vision is $200 for a 2-year period. Max for hearing is $500 per year after the first year. DVH plans are absolute ripoffs if you can self-insure for worst-case scenarios and know how to be as healthy as possible. Most people are too stupid about healthy living. How many years of $4,300 dental services will you need in the next 20 years? For most people, very few if any. Any charges above $5,000 in a year are not covered.
Thank you so much Dr! I am a Dental Assistant making a switch to the front desk as a Administrative Dental Assistant. This has been very helpful!!!!! Specially understanding the difference between insurances, and explaining to patients.
I just used my delta dental insurance policy I pay $34 a month and they covered almost $600 towards a root canal and crown. Sad so many don’t have dental insurance in the usa.
This was such a helpful video, thank you! Also, do you think there's a point where you're too old for dental school, realistically? I might not get in until I'm in my late 20s, and that makes me nervous.
I’m sorry but what you asked for does not exist. The only way to get, let’s say a $2500 payout with a low deductible, would cost you at least $5k/yr to the insurance company, plus your deductible and co-pays to your dentist. Then they have exclusions. Missing tooth clause: if you are missing a tooth when you get the insurance, they don’t have to pay anything towards replacing it. Now they have put in “natural wear and attrition” clause that says they don’t have to pay to fix teeth that wear down naturally. It’s the greatest scam of all insurances. Be careful.
Just got out of college and I have an amazing job. This video was extremely helpful when I was setting up my dental benefits. Never been to a dentist a day in my life. Thank you ❤️🥹
I'm going to need a couple of root canals and bridge work. I talked to a Humana rep that recommended their $17 value plan.Dou you agree or know of a plan I should go with at least until my major procedures are done? Thank you.
Dont get Delta. Ive had Delta for about 15 years. If i got back all the money I ever paid them then that would cover all dental work Ive ever had done. Don't waste your money on Delta. I don't know if there is something better since I pay delta through my employer. You actually are better off just getting rid of Delta and taking the weekly/monthly premiums and putting them into your own account. And im not having $5000 dental surgery just normal teeth pulling. A $1500 a year maximum cap and they might cover 60% of the bill. Thats like trying to feed a tiger with a cheeseburger. Not nearly enough. finally got tired of it after i had to cancel my last dental appointment to remove 2 molars because the insurance would barely cover half the cost. "Delta Dental is simply the best, which is why 60 million Americans make them their choice for dental insurance." If that statement is really true than thats the sorriest statement about the dental insurance industry. Done with it.
Delta is like a barely there insurance. You still pay a significant amount out of pocket for any dental service other than the 2 cleanings for each year.

I want to get Delta Dental insurance PPO because I need to get wisdom teeth removed, but their highest premium has an annual deductible max 1500 per year, but I don't know if it falls under the 18 month ortho or the 12 month major service. Ask your insurance how much is the lifetime max and that's likely what will go towards your braces coverage, not the percentage.
