- Wacken Open Air bowed its head to the departed rock'n'roll legend Lemmy Kilmister, who died on 28th December 2015. For this special occasion the Motörhead bomber was brought on stage one last time while a farewell movie was played on the festival screens. Lemmy's bandmates Phil Campbell and Mikkey Dee brought friends of the band onto the stage and found consoling words.

For the last time
I had gotten into Motorhead too late, and missed out on all the great things they provided for their fans. I have dreamed of being at one of their shows, but it will sadly never happen in the real world.
But that doesn't stop me from being in the show. Thanks to him, I've picked up the bass and I plan to spread his influence even further. Thank you Lemmy!

I'm a kid from the 90's, unfortunately motörhead has always been far away from me, until 2008 or 2009 when I started listening to this legend! I got a huge fan of this awesome music and the guys, with lemmy on top of it all, such a nice and gentle human being with a very big heart for his fans. you can't imagine how much happy I was to see them in 2015 live, it's so sad that I had only once the chance to see them, but this memory will remain for the rest of my life!!! the next time I will cry like a baby is when slayer plays their last show
