I lived in Hollywood, back in 1991 - '96. I ran into Lemmy just about every time I went to the Rainbow bar & grill. The first time I met him, I told him I'd just moved down from Humboldt County. He said "Where the f*** is that?" I told him "Northern California it's where all the good weed comes from!" He replied "Good weed? I've never heard of bad weed??" On another occasion, he and I were having a conversation... and the drummer (I think it was the drummer) from the rock band Cinderella, came over to proudly show Lemmy his new tattoo... Motorhead album cover on his arm! After he walked away, I said to Lemmy "I think he wants to join your band?" He responded with "We don't allow 'girls' in our band."

I actually cried when Lemmy died . He was a big part of my youth . I was born in 71 and as soon as i heard Motorhead hanging with my uncle's i fell in love with Motorhead.
Many of did. Lemmy was true legend. But above all, he was probably the most genuine person in music show business. He never said what they wanted him to say, only what he thought and was himself, still an honest and true person. I had the honor of meeting him and I really did not expect such a modest and nice person! From my point of view, even lifelong popularity did not have a negative effect on him! Less than an hour in his presence (in one of the pubs in Brno), sharing a line with Lemmy (and two guys from his crew).. magical year '95. P.S.: I love his lyrics, they are truly perfect! Not many people can say so much in so few words and at the same time with such strength and persuasiveness. One feels as if he is speaking directly from his soul. Sad thing was, that Motorhead was main time of it´s life so underestimated.. it was a tax for beeing honest, fair and having a not bent spine! As Lemmy sad, most money he make, were from merch sold direct to fans on concerts and from a few songs (lyrics) she wrote for other artists.. he told, that Sharon Osborne gave him $50k for "Mama, i´m coming home!" ,which he make for Ozzy and it was the best salary for song, he ever made! Btw. she (w.Ozzy) made a few millions $ from this song! Of course, Lemmy didn´t see a penny from this. Ozzy wanted to give him a share , but Sharona as a well-known curmudgeon, was against it!
Saw them on the Bomber tour. Loudest band I’ve ever heard. Pissed my mates off as my girlfriend took too long to put on her makeup and we missed the support who were Saxon! Thanks for the tinnitus Lemmy!
You are exactly right with your documentary. I saw them live in Germany, and it was impressing. They came in walking through the audience, and then they played very good hard rock. The loudest I ever have heard.
I once encountered the blokes from Motörhead, all in black carrying guitar cases in a bus transiting Dubai airport. I looked long and hard at Lemmy, and he stared back at me. I wasn’t quite sure who he was. But in the end I remembered. ‘Hey’ I said, ‘you’re that bloke from Hawkwind!’ He laughed. What a champ! 😂
"The Space Ritual" by Hawkwind is still my absolute favourite live album, with Lemmy on bass and vocals. It's like running into a wall of psychedelic madness, nothing comes close.
Rock, Punk, Metal, Thrash, Speed, Blues, Prog, Lo-Fi, Boogie.. This band done it all and inspired so many. Rather they/ you, like it or not. Rest easy, Lemmy.. Greatest band of all time.
Damn right!! You can also definitely say, he was ROCK N ROLL, as well. I remember reading about Lemmy saying that Little Richard had the best voice in rock n roll. I was happy to know that he believed what I have always believed all my life too.

Lemmy was one of a kind. The last time I was at the Rainbow in Hollywood, I asked the waitress- where's Lemmy? She said- I guess he's on tour. He is a rock icon. He is one rockstar that I wish I had met. I did get to see Motorhead one time in Vancouver, at the Vogue. So, I did see Lemmy once.
You did a good job on this tribute. Glad you used my image at the end. That is from the Motorizer photoshoot we did for Album. Also, the shot of Lem pointing came out of that shoot.
@@SimplyGiveUp-sp3ld That is true if you haven't worked with. With Motorhead I was pretty much their photographer along with GNR. They were my main bands that I toured with. So being friends it was easy to get shots like the pointing pic stuff like that. Lemmy knew what I wanted and I knew what he liked. But yes, when you don't know someone you kind of just hang out and shoot. You can tell when they get comfortable. I usually just ask them what they would like and we can create it together. That know one will ever see shots unless they are approved. That is my rule. They have to trust you to get the best shot.
The first concert I ever attended was the Blizzard Of Oz tour in 1981. Motörhead opened for Ozzy and I had no idea that I was witnessing history. On the 40th anniversary of the tour I purchased a commemorative concert t shirt from that tour. The response was enlightening. The number of Motörhead fans in the world is a testament to their influence. We all should live by their standard, Everything Louder than Everything Else!

That was a nice tribute video and history lesson on Lemmy & MOTÖRHEAD. An in depth documentary on MOTÖRHEAD could easily be over 4 hours long covering the over 35 years of the band, the albums, members, record labels, road crews, superfans, ect, ect. I always loved MOTÖRHEAD since I heard Metallica's cover of Damage Case and immediately went out to find a MOTÖRHEAD album that contained it. All these years later and MOTÖRHEAD is still my favorite band that I listen to almost daily. ♠️♦️♥️🍀

Great little doc about the original Three Amigos......For me (and the narrator too I suspect)the band was over when Philthy Phil Taylor and Fast Eddie left the band.
When we practiced in Dollis Hill Motorhead came in with all their equipment and a flight case full of Budweiser, once they started sound checking all the other bands in the studio stopped playing and went out in the hallway to have a listen, they were too loud for anyone else to practice anyway, will never forget that. R.I.P Motorhead.
Have you considered putting together a documentary on Gwar? Or Buckethead? Gwar is my favorite metal band,ä. And my love for Buckethead has a crazy story. I first heard the name "Buckethead" in a list of the fastest guitar players ever. The name and image intrigued me and I decided to take a further look. I was lucky enough to see the classic line up in Germany in December 1981, support by Tank, They were loud. I saw the band a couple of times later, but I always preferred the Clarke/ Taylor line up.
Bloody hell. Tank! Yeah. Think I saw "Dunderhead" 😂 back then also. 4 gigs then the line up changed at a gig at Hull City Hall. I believe I saw them approx 400 times. No regrets, No remorse.
Saw them in Germany in 81 with Philthy, Fast Eddie and Lemmy. I had never heard anything so loud. I had to move back a little to actually figure out what song they were playing. My ears rang for days. Loved every second of it.

I saw Motorhead play back in 85. One day when I was watching a video called Eat the Rich I was knocked over by the intensity. All the metal bands were to fast and heavy for me because I was of a slower pace. Then I heard some slow but heavy stuff more my speed and began a relationship with now one of my all time favorite bands. So well yes "Motorhead" forever. I'm going to find a shirt with that logo . I like the speed metal a little more now as I could use the energy. +better equipment. And I like that feeling of flying. Also so many friends are in my list from all over the world. That is great feeling ..we can all relate to this band .no need to look back!!!
Possibly the purest rock and roll band ever. I saw hundreds of bands throughout my teens and twenties, very few came close to the sheer majesty of Motorhead live.
The first time hearing motorhead blew me away. I was about 6 or 7 at the time. Im old so being a fan since that age means a really long time. I wanted to take my son to see Motorhead on what would be their final tour through here. Things happened and we couldn't go. I wish we could have.
I saw Motorhead in a club in 1983 and Lemmy told the people" in the back to get up front or leave. Either way I don't care." The guitar stopped working and it sounded like a full band. Helix opened for them. They came out in the audience and stood next to me.
Lemmy and Motorhead was a group *everyone* respected. The Punks considered them one of their own. The metalheads considered them one of their own. Before he was in Motorhead, he was in one of the founding Prog-Psycedelic bands, Hawkwind, but he just wanted to go harder and faster. One of th hardest men in music, and yet by all accounts generous with his time and a gracious host to any fan that came to visit him in his favorite pub.
Well done. Just enough and not too much. Those that were there in the day are so lucky. Those that were motorheads - well you know how amazingly lucky we were. And I don't mean being in the group lol.
Fantastic documentary my friend the band means exactly the same to me as it does you, they have got me some really hard times ,thanks for keeping the bands memories alive y friend
Can’t believe I hadn’t watched this one until now… really interesting, lots I didn’t know. I met Würzel in the late 80s, I was a bit overawed but he was a real sweetheart!
From 80 to 84 i saw them a few times a year in Stoke on Trent.Vicky hall.Back stage after for a laugh and an autograph.Ears ringin for days..They were loud and fast..Always had to walk the 5 miles back cos o missin the last bus,to Neck End and a bollocking for being late again.Great days of music those were.
I was born in the south of England in 1970. I grew up riding dirtbikes, listening to Motörhead and going Mod bashing with my older brother in the seaside towns of Sussex on his 650 BSA Thunderbolt. Hell yeah, awsome documentary😎🤘🔥🇧🇻
The Sacrifice album playing in the background is one of my favorites 🤘😎🤘
Next to Black Sabbath, Motörhead is my favorite band ever!
loved this documentary.
Thank you my friend! Motörhead for life!!
Yk what cool is that I was born after on Christmas while Lenny was born on Christmas Eve that fucking sick rip Lenny your a god 🤘
Sometimes you're so right...and this is one time....RIP Lem you are missed
Can’t believe I hadn’t watched this one until now… really interesting, lots I didn’t know. I met Würzel in the late 80s, I was a bit overawed but he was a real sweetheart!
Love these docs
From 80 to 84 i saw them a few times a year in Stoke on Trent.Vicky hall.Back stage after for a laugh and an autograph.Ears ringin for days..They were loud and fast..Always had to walk the 5 miles back cos o missin the last bus,to Neck End and a bollocking for being late again.Great days of music those were.
Great job!! 👏👏👏
Bloody brilliant.
Seen them many times and met lemmy once. My favorite band 🤘🤘🤘
I was born in the south of England in 1970. I grew up riding dirtbikes, listening to Motörhead and going Mod bashing with my older brother in the seaside towns of Sussex on his 650 BSA Thunderbolt. Wild times, wild music and wouldn’t have changed it for the world. I’m still dysfunctional now and most class me mad as fk.😬
Fk mods haha
Wow great job. ROCK ON 🤘

Saw them play with Ozzy when No More Tears came out. Great show.

Lemmy was the last true outlaw in not just rock or metal but music in general.
