I’m looking at doing my intake and mufflers so this video is exactly what I needed to hear. Love the sound
Awesome to hear! Definitely give my header & exhaust videos a look. I highly recommend the RRE header to tie in your build.
Aww man I just got this intake and I just wanna drive all night long
just got a 2011 and i love it. cant find any aftermarket parts right now, seems like all the good stuff has been used or broken.
Congrats man! Yeah, the aftermarket for them isn't the best, and availability is horrible. I'm hoping and planning on getting it full bolt on by next summer then plan for custom turbo setup later. Let me know if you start building and have any questions! I'd love to see it👍🏻
@@newtz_garage do you have an insta or discord?
Hi, I'm owning stock 2011 eclipse, and I'm trying to modify some simple things. That intaks looks great! Is there any issues with water? About rainy days or entering car wash?
That's awesome! I definitely recommend this one! And like I've told several others, there's really only gonna be a problem if you create it. It's driven through rain dozens of times, no issue. Now if you're taking on big puddles, or excessive splashing, you have a better chance at hydrolocking. But as long as your bumper and all is okay, and you're not taking on extreme water, you should be good. But as always, proceed at your own risk. If you want to be more cautious, I think I recommended to a few people to cut their intake a little short so that it's a longer short ram/short cold air intake. Best of luck with the build, and don't hesitate to reach out!
They do fit on the same gen galant as well. I can say definitely invest in a hydro shield as without one especially in winter that filter gets clogged quick. But they do sound pretty damn good
Would I make it through a casual ohio winter if I put a K&N filter on?
where did you get the first cold air intake you had on before the new one?? i’m looking to buy one that doesn’t run all the way down the motor
I actually picked up one of those universal kits from Advance Auto😂 Same for the filter. It worked out great, and I still have it all.
You think this would fit my galant with the same 2.4l as you do
Quite possibly, what year is yours?
It will for sure mine is an 07 and it works perfectly. The engine bays are identical
Which galant? I have the 2010 FE looks the same
@@Heenfio2007 Galant DE but has the same engine bay as the eclipse, and they’re both 4G69 engines. If you have factory fogs you would need to remove the drivers side one to make it work
@@Nurseceejay yea I can remove those they’re plastic
Cool vid! But what difference the manual vs auto makes for the CAI?
Thank you! The size of the transmission and the space it takes up in the engine bay. It makes the overall install and fitment a little more difficult as far as the stabilizing mount. If you check out Sunset4gs video, you'll see what I mean ua-cam.com/video/ewpBmHKkfyk/v-deo.html
@@newtz_garage cool! Thx dude!
Of course!
sweet!
Thank you! A little teaser/sneak peak for ya...I just installed the RRE Header in it today, so stick around for that in a few weeks!
@@newtz_garage im sure it will sound cool, ill be here! im twincharged so Im loud AF lol
@@DeathsWhiplash I had to take a look at your channel to make sure I wasn't tripping, but you're the reason I'm toying with twin charging it! Your setup sounds amazing!
@@newtz_garage I would be happy to lend any info I can! Cheers!
Maybe a dumb question but will you be able to drive in the rain? Thinking about getting this for mine as well.
I thought that would be an issue too, so do a lot of other people. I was pretty worried myself and cautious, but I've never had an issue so far, and it's been through some heavy rain. I'd recommend a shield of some sort for it if you want to be really safe. But this has become a project/weekend car, so it rarely sees rain now. I definitely recommend getting it though, so hope this helps!
Thanks. Will definitely consider this then. Possibly short ram.
@@fomocosolow That's a good option too, just be careful about heatsoak. I initially started with a short ram which was great in the fall and winter, but even then, it's start to pull in a lot of warm air. I'd look at rre short ram, or even do the dc sports cold air and cut it a little shorter.
@@newtz_garage I have same worry about water getting into the filter due to the location and want to go with the universal option that you just removed. Did you have issues with the universal kit or why did you remove those?
@@TemitopeArulogun Actually, I didn't do the universal kit, I had the lower resonator box from the factory setup, and a rigged up short ram intake. I haven't had any issues at all with water when I've driven in the rain for past a sprinkler that sprayed me. Not to say that water won't get there, but for the most part, it's a pretty good spot. If you're that worried about water, I'd come up with a modified short ram setup and just have a really good heat shield for it. Hope this helps!
Hello, would this fit the galant SE 2010 sedan?
@@Heenfio In theory, it should fit. But, it'd more than likely be the same case where you'd have to do some sort of rearranging or slight modifications to make sure everything fits into place and nothing interferes.
@@newtz_garage okay but would it make a bit of power or just be better? Because I’ve heard that if you keep it stock with ought a tune it wouldn’t have any power whatsoever
@@Heenfio So with any sort of performance modification, a tune is going to make the most difference and be generally safer for motor health. That being said, some cars respond really good to one or 2 little bolt ons without a tune. This being one of those cars, if all you're doing is the intake, and your motor is fairly healthy, I wouldn't worry. I would definitely recommend running premium gas to be safe and get the most from it. The motors and ecu's are fairly smart by themselves and can adjust quite good. But again, a tune will get you the best results if you can find someone that can help with that. And it will make a small performance difference just by itself. Not knock your socks off, but pretty noticable. You can also do a computer relearn and use premium gas and that'll optimize it even better too.
So let me ask a question here by putting on a cold intake and a filter being right there by the fender wall there's no way you can drive that car in the rain🤔
I've had several other people wonder the same thing. I personally haven't had a problem with it. It is a slight worry if you do drive through rain, I agree. But again, I haven't had a problem, and neither has anyone else I've talked with that has run the cold air setups. You can always go with a short ram setup, or even cut it down to a desired length. As long as you don't go swimming with the front end, I don't see any problem. I even removed the cover that was in place of the fog light and ran like that for quite a while. It all just depends on what driving you experience
Hi my lancer has the same exact 4g69 engine but auto would you reckon it'll work?
@@saifqasem8998 possibly, you may have to cut or bend it a bit. What year lancer do you have?
@@newtz_garage 06/07
@@newtz_garage 06/07 lancer
@@saifqasem8998 I'd imagine it should have fairly similar fitment. I'd look up same style intakes for it and videos and see how it fits for other people
@@newtz_garage thats the problem not many people have a 4g69 lancer so there is basically no videos or content about it unfortunately, anyways I have to replace a valve and make sure that the car is stable and clear for a while before any aftermarkets. For now im doing a wide research about it
Did u rest your map sensor and computer by disconnecting the (-) and turning the key on
Everything was disconnected for a substantial amount of time, so everything was reset by the time I reconnected the battery. But it was all stock computer when starting up after the install. It wasn't until the following week when I had it reflashed for the intake.
@Newtz Garage I forgot to reset mine , took off and the car was sputtering bad , then I remembered I didn't reset it , does your car sound like a bat out of hell when u stomp on the gas
Oh man, I'm sure that worried you for a quick second😂 And yeah, you could say so. But at the time at had a little muffler bypass and tb coolant bypass, and currently it now has a catless header. It definitely sounds insane and awesome!
@Newtz Garage where did u find the catless header , I've been trying to find some for my 2006 4g eclipse , and also a body kit but no luck
I got my header from RRE, I actually posted the video recently, I have the link to it in the description. As far as body kits, I know autocity imports has a lot of stuff, and you can check out carid.com
Do anyone knw if with adsins the cokd intake so we gave to tone it
It definitely would give you the best results, but if all you have is the intake, it'd be smarter to wait until more bolt ons to spend the money on a tune. Recommend running premium as well. I did, however, get it reflashed about a month after, so that made a good bit of difference, but the driving and performance was good without. It all comes down to what your plan is for the build, and how you want it to go.
@@newtz_garage thank you. I just dont want it to get any check engine lights or blow something in the engine?
@@rosendosalazar2965 Likelihood of a check engine light is higher than "blowing" your engine. If you get a CEL, could have a vacuum leak, loose clamp, bad seal on the MAF sensor, or just loose fitting somewhere in the intake path. If you do have underlying issues with the motor, or it's not as healthy as it could/should be, you'll find it out soon enough. For me, after install, 93oct, and an etune, the cats in the exhaust manifold clogged quicker until they were done for, but they had already been going bad, just slightly expedited by the boost in "performance". Worst case scenario of anything, overall, would be driving through a massive puddle and hydro locking, but if that worry's you, go for a short ram with a good heat shield setup, or modify the DC sports one to be shorter.
Why is he pretending to shift gears😂😂😂
I'm assuming you're talking about when I'm using the tiptronic shifter to shift. No pretending.
@@newtz_garage my bad.
@@suburbanlarper you're good👍🏻
What should I cover the fog light hole with? Like a mesh?😅
If you want to, yeah. Or you could even get a filter sock for it.
@@newtz_garage which one would you recommend?
@@ballzinyojawz7700 Really just comes to personal preference. Most filter socks can be slightly hydrophobic, and repel a little water, so that's good for those unexpected water encounters. A little mesh screen would be good for bigger debris and crap damaging the filter and just hitting it in general. It really comes down to your driving and environment, and preference. I personally don't run either, and currently no bumper either. But I also don't daily drive it. I can find a few options and send them to you👍🏻

I just installed mine and I don’t know what I did wrong but all the engine lights are on and the rpm keeps going up and down, do you happen to know what coukd be the problem?😢😢😢
Could be a number of little things. First thing I'd do is remove the negative battery terminal and turn the key in the ignition to the first position and let it sit for a minute like that. This will discharge the system, and then go ahead and remove the positive terminal and let it sit for a little longer. Next, disconnect the MAF sensor and the throttle body, and start checking all of the intake piping for any gaps/leaks where air could leave or enter the intake. Secure all the piping and couplers, plug the throttle body and MAF back in, reconnect the battery, and then try and start it up again. Hopefully should do the trick. Let me know!👍🏻
Hey planning on doing some mods to my eclipse, do you have an insta or something i can get some advice on?
@@chrisriley6972 you can DM on Instagram, my link is in the description
Do you think itll fit my 2012 gs
Definitely!👍🏻 And if it's an auto, you'll have to adjust the fitment a little, same as me. If you have the manual, it should fit perfect👌🏻
@@newtz_garage i got an auto, thanks so much!
@@ballzinyojawz7700 Not a problem!👌🏻
Will this fit 09GS I got the auto
@@gisselDR Yep, it'll fit! Availability has been a little low inline, but there are still some out there. And since you have an auto, you'll just have to tweak the fitment slightly, but it'll fit👍🏻
