@@xprettylightsx diamond star motors cars. Basically Dodge/Chrysler and Mitsubishi had a partnership back in 70s where they were the importer for Mitsubishi cars and owned a stake in them. Then the late 80s they had a 50/50 split on a US factory so mitsubishi could produce cars in the US and avoid import taxes, and as a result a few Mitsubishi cars ended up getting rebadged and sold under the Chrysler brands. Great Job Miguel. I had 4 Mitsubishi Eclipses in the 1990's. My first one was a base model I got brand new in 1990. Then I had a 1992 GS-T modified to 300 hp. Next a 1994 GSX modified to 350 Hp. My last was when I purchased a brand new 1997 GSX from the dealer. I later modified it and built up the engine to run 25 psi and made close to 500 hp. Running 0-60 mph in 3.4 seconds and quarter mile at 11.7 @ 120 mph in a 5 speed manual. This was in 1998!!! Loved that car, but sold it in 2004 when I moved on to other brands. Thanks for the interview and run down memory lane. DSM cars are a labor of love and glad to see them getting the love they deserve. Especially now as they are close to 25 years old!
I loved the honesty of the owner, the car and this review. It was stellar and exciting as well as authentic in every dimension of review. Great work! Miguel you have a cool car.
Nice to finally see a 2g on this channel! And Miguel's car is one of the coolest builds out there. It's worth noting that most DSM's had a rear LSD (optional on 2g's) but it was a viscous type whereas EVOs had a clutch type LSD.
Watched and then worked with my dad (RIP) building out his 1992 Plymouth Laser AWD, these cars are so hard to find parts for now in my experience. Total beasts when dialed in right. Good for Miguel - DSM is a family
For those of us that have been in the community for a long time (personally with my 2G DSM for over 20 years) we love these cars. I applaud Miguel for the work he’s done, and continues to do, for and with the community. As for the canyon carving capabilities, from someone that Time Attacks a 2G, I can tell you that these cars potential on the road course is extremely overlooked. Very fast and can handle extremely well. When setup correctly, these cars will rival any modern day car on the circuit.
Man these take me back. My first car was a 1990 Eclipse GS that I had in college, while the cool kids had their brand new 2nd gen GSXs. Mine had no turbo AWD and broke down quite a bit, but I've always had a soft spot for the 1st and 2nd gen GSXs.
That car needs to be raised up about a inch and a half,.. stiffening it won't help it's a great looking car and took me immediately down memory lane.. I'm 45.. love it
Oh man was watching Miguel's stuff back in 2020 during peak covid, as I've always wanted a 2nd gen Eagle Talon TSI AWD. Glad to see he's still keeping up with the DSM's and continually improving his cars.
This just goes to show what you can do building your own car. I am doing the same except with a Subaru. 09 Forester X lowered on coilovers and full aftermarket suspension. Corners so well I had to put in a Sparco seat. Next step is the brakes and 6speed from a donor STi. Keep it going Miguel your car is awesome!
Love it! Makes me appreciate my 1st Gen. and what it was at the time. Back in 1997.. here was my build: 1992 Eagle Talon TSi Automatic Upgraded Fuel Pump 550cc Injectors HKS Boost Controller HKS Vein Pressure Converter HKS GCC Cold Air Intake 20G Turbo ported and clipped Upgraded Intercooler Larger Throttle Body Extrude-Honed Intake Manifold Extrude-Honed Head with 3-angle valves JE Forged Pistons .030' over Block bored .030" over ARP Studs throughout Extrude-Honed Exhaust Manifold w/ External Wastegate 3" Downpipe 3" Exhaust High-stall Torque Converter Some of it built by Buschur Racing. It was the only Automatic that was ever known to be built at that time. Buschur was going to try to get me featured in Turbo Magazine, but the car broke and never ran again. Ran 11s without any tuning/dynoing. The car in this video is great, but my car was likely the coolest sleeper street-driven, street tire 1st gen ever built. No offense, but it doesn't look like much advancement in the past 20 years. I think the DSM 1G/2G platform has even more potential with today's advancements (street driven not the ones people convert to drag cars).
I had the Eagle Talon TSi AWD sister car which I bought new after my first gen went boom. I did the basic bolt-ons and a piggy back tune which got me 325awhp/325tq and it was perfect for use as my daily and Blvd cruiser on Friday and Saturday nights lol. This is an amazing build for a guy who never did a build before. Much respect for keeping your baby going ten years later
I don't post much on TST videos, but I love watching Zak enjoying a car specially when hits hard on memories and younger stage dreams. Congrats to the owner, I have my project around the same amount of time than you and I'm not selling it never.
Always liked these, I remember the first "fast" car I really drove was my friends, Eagle Talon TSI which was basically the Eclipse GSX. It was so fun to drive, manual, turbo, all wheel drive, just a really fun car. Haha Zack, I feel you, my buddy's sister had one of my hero cars, it was a Dodge Daytona Turbo Shelby Z, just like the one from the movie The Wraith, I really wanted to drive that car, almost asked her out for the same reason.

Couldn't have clicked this fast enough. Miguel this car is amazing. It Canada it was hard to get a GSX (GST were more available.) I really wanted the AWD so ended up getting the sister car, a 1998 Talon TSI AWD. First car I bought myself in 2004. Was 19 at the time so was hard to have the extra money for modding and all that fun. Had to sell it a few years late but was able to get another 1998 Talon TSI AWD in 2008ish which I was able to mod to my liking. Regret selling both, especially seeing how hard they are to come by now. This definitely brought memories of those fun days. Great vid Zack, thank you!
Love this. New cars just aren't as exciting as cars from this era. I love how 90's turbo engines just always sound like they are trying to eat themselves when on boost.

Sure sounds like a ripper! Don’t forget while evos had McPherson suspension these DSMs were actually multilink (wishbone) front and a decent multilink rear. They got huge in the drag racing world, but they actually handled quite well and did well at AutoX before the Evo came to our shores.
My best friend in high school had a real GSX… upgraded T4 turbo, built bottom end, stage 3 6puck clutch, FBO and tuned with ‘DSM link’ I believe - made around 340whp - was a super fun car to drive, handling was tremendous and I do agree about the clutch/trans it’s got an odd feeling to it and the gears are big and widely spaced apart. Yeah, I really loved the Eclipses and Eagle Talons back in the '90s. I started as a fan of the originals with the pop-up headlights featuring really thin marker lights. I got as far as calling people in the classifieds, but I couldn't afford any of the used 1st gens back when I was 16. The 2nd gen had that crazy 3rd quarter window that curves back into the C-pillar arching the opposite way from pretty much every car ever made. They just look like angry little speed pods, and they go like stink. (Also, we don't talk about the 3rd gen...) Miguel, raise this thing up like 0.75", put on a quality stainless exhaust with a good performance muffler, and take it to a body shop for the bumper/bodykit repairs, so they can plastic-weld the urethane together and clean up the rough stuff like that door for you, you don't even have to paint it yet. Do that, and you'll have something a lot more usable, which means you're more likely to drive it. And that's really the point, right?
When I lived in Denver back in 1996. I had a 1992 Turbo H22A Honda Accord Wagon manual transmission with the LSD. My good friend had a built GSX Eclipse. Going snowboarding in Steamboat we would take his car. That was so fun
Been following this guy on insta for a few years now this car is so fucking clean 🔥🔥🔥 also 500hp is perfect especially for a daily street style car.
