    I am the type of fan who doesn't really read the translations of the lyrics (Some translations can lose the context and meaning of the song which then can be misinterpreted.) and I spend most of the time just vibing to the song. I agree tho some of these songs are too mature for the minors who are singing them

    I CANNOT believe you didn’t mention the song Drippin’ by NCT Dream! I remember when that song first came out, international fans were all over twitter trying to protect the members. I think Jisung was 16 the time (?) so it seemed like the company was pushing the mature lyrics onto the members. There’s even a video of Dream in the studio to record the vocals for the track and Haechan says “it’s awkward that Dream is singing lyrics like these.” He looked visibly uncomfortable by the suggestive nature of the lyrics. It’s in the video titled “NCT Recording Diary #4” If it made Haechan uncomfortable, how did the other members feel, even if they didn’t speak about it publicly?

      I’ve never listened to the song but I looked up the English translation for the lyrics and the first verse immediately shocked me. That is absolutely wild that they were singing such strange lyrics while still being minors.

    • @AuricBlue
      @AuricBlue 19 днів тому +9

      @@imagine9414 You’re right. It’s disturbing to read & listen to those lyrics knowing that they were minors. It’s also hard to watch the video I mentioned above. You’ll see Haechan uncomfortable by what he has to sing. I wish artists (especially minors) had their safety respected and their preferences advocated for whenever they’re put in bad situations. All kpop artists need better protection.

    I think it’s funny nobody talks about f(x)’s Chocolate Love. It wasn’t a single, but a song for a CF, but at the time, 1/5 of the group was adults and it was their second release ever. Amber was 16, Luna was 16, Sulli was 15, and Krystal was 14, with Victoria being 22 at that time and that MV was very racy (maybe not super sexual, but definitely had a burlesque feel to it), with the two youngest members in very sexual clothing and the fact that Girls’ Generation had their own version, which was more tame, despite all the members in that group were 18. I think it’s odd nobody talks about it, because it shows this has been a issue for a long time. And I’m sorry, no child should be singing inappropriate lyrics, should be dressed to mature, and honestly shouldn’t be able to perform 90% of the year.

    War of Hormone is what just about every young person goes through. It is still one of my favorite songs. Cause I remember what I was like as a youngster. I find it interesting though. Yes Minors shouldn't be singing suggestive lyrics, but when these performers come of age, then let them be and sing like young adults. Also if folks are so worried about how young idols are portrayed, maybe stop with the lil micro mini skirts and pushing the lolita looks.

    • @isra9862
      @isra9862 4 дні тому

      I agree with war of hormones, it was literally about puberty and being teemager, who else is gonna sing about that 30 years olds? I would suggest not to use the word "lolita" for what you are trying to say tho, lolita is a completely okay non-sexual fashion style. The word you think is "loli" probably, they are actually different things so be careful next time, please!

Officially it's stated "Group Name Meaning: Combined with the words “I Will” [contracted to I'll] and “It” with the meaning of the members being able to be anything and also look forward to becoming anything." Shortly before debut they dropped the punctuation that would have made the pronunciation more explicit.

    I come from listening to hood, hip hop music. In America we have let soooo many young folks perform and be a part of even worse things. I don’t entirely know the culture but everyone is exposed to the US culture and music. Being 15,16,17 I grew up with more friends that made music and the lyrics may be explicit for the age. I mean most was violence not sexual and most came from male artist yeah but idk… the voice and song is to vibe to now the weird part is when you take the lyrics and the person saying it and even try to make that connection instead of just listening. Nobody knows these teens and what they may know or what’s normal to them but not for society. Rambling at the end when new ppl discover them they will be older some songs may re release. I just got into kpop and stray kids after years of debut and I love the older stuff. Eh maybe it’s just industry and the whole man vs woman thing

      It actually is, even in the US, and is also unfortunately why we need to teach even young children appropriate anatomical names. My friend was a school nurse and had a young girl come in saying, “[Mom’s boyfriend] ate my cookie.” It took her far too long, after a physical exam, to realize what the girl was *actually* referring to. Turns out both mom and the teacher had taught consent through “cookie” and “hotdog.”

    In the case of cookie this is what happens when you decide to use a fucking snack item as slang for well errrrm……I need not even say because idk who’s bright idea it was to use “cookie” as a slang term for that but now because of that it’s hard to read those lyrics without it sounding so weird and it’s funny because I liked the song and found it very catchy but when I looked at the lyrics I was like “uh wtf” and it just ruined the song for me because here I am thinking about various kinds of cookies like chocolate chip peanut butter snickerdoodles mint chocolate etc and then I’m hit with that

    One single comment: south korean fans are overly sensitive for the most dumb topics. U call those lyrics in your examples controversial??? Talk about the hypocrisy.... The SK society is, in general, very obtuse & inflexible (although in the last 2-3 y I've started to notice some minor changes) by nature

  • @javiermendoza01415

    In my opinion Oversensitive people "fans" are one of the reasons why K-pop/drama today is a shell of it's former self. The creativity is gone because "fans" today can't handle some slight seriousness/adultish themes on the music or acting/modeling gigs groups/singers they "support".

      the point is that most of the sexualizing is done by the COMPANY, not the artists themselves. yes, if they are writing their own lyrics, it is on them. but if they are made to sing, it is most likely a case of not having a choice. they sing because they have to. they have signed the contract. and we never know (or we do know actually) how bad the contracts can go and to what level they can stoop

    • @BillyWhaler
      @BillyWhaler 20 днів тому

      @ Not exactly correct. These are “service contracts”. Nobody is forced to do anything. The artists can have lyrics and secondary meanings translated into their native language. The artists can ask for arbitration over areas that they believe go out of bounds. The artists can’t be 1%ers and also helpless wallflowers depending on the situation.

    • @SBBunny93
      @SBBunny93 20 днів тому +2

      @@mesmericmurmurs you can blame the companies however, the company promotes what they think the public wants. If the public is continuing to stream these songs they deem inappropriate companies will continue to cater to that. But kpop as a whole is an extremely exploitative genre regarding their talent.
