I CANNOT believe you didn’t mention the song Drippin’ by NCT Dream! I remember when that song first came out, international fans were all over twitter trying to protect the members. I think Jisung was 16 the time (?) so it seemed like the company was pushing the mature lyrics onto the members. There’s even a video of Dream in the studio to record the vocals for the track and Haechan says “it’s awkward that Dream is singing lyrics like these.” He looked visibly uncomfortable by the suggestive nature of the lyrics. It’s in the video titled “NCT Recording Diary #4” If it made Haechan uncomfortable, how did the other members feel, even if they didn’t speak about it publicly?

War of Hormones is an absolute classic, i love it 💜 reminds me of Namjoon talking about watching dodgy videos and all the other members were watching them too 😂
I think it’s funny nobody talks about f(x)’s Chocolate Love. It wasn’t a single, but a song for a CF, but at the time, 1/5 of the group was adults and it was their second release ever. Amber was 16, Luna was 16, Sulli was 15, and Krystal was 14, with Victoria being 22 at that time and that MV was very racy (maybe not super sexual, but definitely had a burlesque feel to it), with the two youngest members in very sexual clothing and the fact that Girls’ Generation had their own version, which was more tame, despite all the members in that group were 18. I think it’s odd nobody talks about it, because it shows this has been a issue for a long time. And I’m sorry, no child should be singing inappropriate lyrics, should be dressed to mature, and honestly shouldn’t be able to perform 90% of the year.
It does have some innuendo. With the lyrics : if I come close baby would you like that/ if I give some would you give it right back/ if I show you that I know where it's at. That can hint at something sexual and inappropriate
War of Hormone is what just about every young person goes through. It is still one of my favorite songs. Cause I remember what I was like as a youngster. I find it interesting though. Yes Minors shouldn't be singing suggestive lyrics, but when these performers come of age, then let them be and sing like young adults. Also if folks are so worried about how young idols are portrayed, maybe stop with the lil micro mini skirts and pushing the lolita looks.
I agree with war of hormones, it was literally about puberty and being teemager, who else is gonna sing about that 30 years olds? I would suggest not to use the word "lolita" for what you are trying to say tho, lolita is a completely okay non-sexual fashion style. The word you think is "loli" probably, they are actually different things so be careful next time, please!
@isra9862 correction you may want to read the book Lolita by Vladimir Nabokov. That is what I'm referencing. So please trust i know what in referencing.
@ckbrowne9243 I didn't think about the book since you were talking about fashion, my mistake. It is important to know that the book has nothing to do with Lolita fashion I guess, it is really sad to see Lolita is being used for sexualised girls since that use hurts the Lolita community...
There is nothing wrong with War of Hormones. It's about being a teenager and fighting with hormones. This is one of the least controversial songs out there and I can't believe it's still being brought up. But of course when you are the top music group out there, everyone has to take a shot at you

Shortly before debut they dropped the punctuation that would have made the pronunciation more explicit.

I don't understand why underage idols are given suggestive lyrics, thats insane to me or why idols of any age are given some other problematic lyrics or songs with problematic messages (if they write it themselves I hope they can grow as people in future)~
Justice for War of Hormone. I'm a grown woman and have no issue with the song, people just want to complain about everything. And even if people have problem with the lyrics, they are in no way "disturbing". It's just a fun song.
You shouldn’t speak on behalf of all women, if some feel objectified and uncomfortable by this lyrics they have all right to point it out, it’s normal for boys and girls to have certain feelings at certain age, but sometimes it’s better to keep some thing to ourselves, if you don’t feel uncomfortable it’s totally fine, but do not demonize others women feelings. I’m still glad that BTS took accountability, so don’t get me wrong, I have no issue with them.
I agree with what the other person said. BTS used to be more conservative in Korean standards but have become much more on the “liberal” side (As in they’ve become more socially accepting, and understand the concepts of sexism, racism, homophobia and feminism) BTS have definitely grown as people ngl
I mean it's a song and all over the world we listen same type of and even more explicit songs and no body cares so why when it is K pop people care a lot just have fun it don't mean anything ffs
I am intrigued by the omission of the TWICE debut track, LIKE OOH AHH 하개 ( which is an actual Korean word.) The voice line clearly says, “How you gonna thrill me?” The subtitles say, “How you gonna treat me?” Someone objected to a 16-year-old asking for a thrill!
People out here being all touchie over lyrics that 'kids' are singing and acting like 11 year olds aren't out there these days trying to get pregnant and in some cases ARE Pregnant, Willingly.
I come from listening to hood, hip hop music. In America we have let soooo many young folks perform and be a part of even worse things. I don’t entirely know the culture but everyone is exposed to the US culture and music. Being 15,16,17 I grew up with more friends that made music and the lyrics may be explicit for the age. I mean most was violence not sexual and most came from male artist yeah but idk… the voice and song is to vibe to now the weird part is when you take the lyrics and the person saying it and even try to make that connection instead of just listening. Nobody knows these teens and what they may know or what’s normal to them but not for society. Rambling at the end when new ppl discover them they will be older some songs may re release. I just got into kpop and stray kids after years of debut and I love the older stuff. Eh maybe it’s just industry and the whole man vs woman thing
I know this whole video was about girl groups but what about boy groups with inappropriate lyrics. NCT Dream for example. I'm a huge fan but there's Chewing Gum and Drippin...
4:22 But tbh it's always been that minors have been debuting in kpop alot of the time...I saw an intresting video titled 'were they actually adults' and it turned out alot of the old kpop groups debuted with minors/ a majority of minors, pls don't come for me as this is something i saw online but i thought was intresting
Like that is written keeping in mind of pop culture. In Western culture this is nothing but for Korean culture it is reserved specially for underage idols.
5:06 this what I read in my friend notebook the all lyric she write and when i realize ,i say to my friend omg this lyric ,and she say what wrong ?andI say ,this lyric have that deeper meaning, and my friend say what I don't understand, and I've explaine what I've read ,but she just told me not to think such a thing, because she don't want me to think a negative thing
Oh really? 'Cookie' is common English slang for 'that'? Funny i have never once heard this (am female). Maybe not in America? Maybe in those 'other' countries that speak English. Loved the song, and yes i noticed it COULD BE taken as suggestive. But you have to choose to see it that way.
It actually is, even in the US, and is also unfortunately why we need to teach even young children appropriate anatomical names. My friend was a school nurse and had a young girl come in saying, “[Mom’s boyfriend] ate my cookie.” It took her far too long, after a physical exam, to realize what the girl was *actually* referring to. Turns out both mom and the teacher had taught consent through “cookie” and “hotdog.”
Cookie 100% is American slang often used in urban dialect. “He wanted the cookies” even Doja cat has a song called Cookie Jar that solidifies the terms meanings and that came out awhile ago.
In the case of cookie this is what happens when you decide to use a fucking snack item as slang for well errrrm……I need not even say because idk who’s bright idea it was to use “cookie” as a slang term for that but now because of that it’s hard to read those lyrics without it sounding so weird and it’s funny because I liked the song and found it very catchy but when I looked at the lyrics I was like “uh wtf” and it just ruined the song for me because here I am thinking about various kinds of cookies like chocolate chip peanut butter snickerdoodles mint chocolate etc and then I’m hit with that
Unlike the other idols, BTS/Namjoon was upset that he may have upset his fans and actually LEARNED about feminism and corrected himself. Now get over this
It's not that bad honestly speaking, although Exo were Newbies, they aren't babies, the macaroni cheese issue issue is a problem, BTS's War of Hormone was fine though, it's basically about them growing up and seducing a girl, but I get why they were upset, as for New Jeans, the cookie song was fine, it's just the international fans who found it inappropriate, as for babymonster's song, it was pretty inappropriate, 😮
One single comment: south korean fans are overly sensitive for the most dumb topics. U call those lyrics in your examples controversial??? Talk about the hypocrisy.... The SK society is, in general, very obtuse & inflexible (although in the last 2-3 y I've started to notice some minor changes) by nature
In my opinion Oversensitive people "fans" are one of the reasons why K-pop/drama today is a shell of it's former self. The creativity is gone because "fans" today can't handle some slight seriousness/adultish themes on the music or acting/modeling gigs groups/singers they "support".
...most suggestive songs are given to literal minors and children. But for adults, especially in a country like Korea, having adult themes (especially in the most important stage of your idol career, comebacks) is risque.
If the girls are adults (and comfortable) with the lyrics then it is nobody’s business. It is their career. Just hope they are having discussions with their younger sibs who look up to them. Jihyo “Strategy”? “Watching my body getting loose” there are no other PG interpretations. 😂 🍦
the point is that most of the sexualizing is done by the COMPANY, not the artists themselves. yes, if they are writing their own lyrics, it is on them. but if they are made to sing, it is most likely a case of not having a choice. they sing because they have to. they have signed the contract. and we never know (or we do know actually) how bad the contracts can go and to what level they can stoop
@ Not exactly correct. These are “service contracts”. Nobody is forced to do anything. The artists can have lyrics and secondary meanings translated into their native language. The artists can ask for arbitration over areas that they believe go out of bounds. The artists can’t be 1%ers and also helpless wallflowers depending on the situation.
@@mesmericmurmurs you can blame the companies however, the company promotes what they think the public wants. If the public is continuing to stream these songs they deem inappropriate companies will continue to cater to that. But kpop as a whole is an extremely exploitative genre regarding their talent.

Moka is actually 20 years old. The only minors in illit are Wonhee and Iroha
Meanwhile the lyrics in American songs:
People out here being all touchie over lyrics that 'kids' are singing and acting like 11 year olds aren't out there these days trying to get pregnant and in some cases ARE Pregnant, Willingly.
This is one advantage of Brazilian Funk, it is so so so explicit that no way you would not know what the song is about.😂😂😂😂😂
Young pose ❌
Young poose 👽 ✓
Like that is one of my favorite songs. ❤
Like that is either wrong or were just didn't miss
War of Hormone is a guilty pleasure song, I don’t think the lyrics are all that bad and it’s catchy so it’s been in my head since it came out 😅
Nah cause literally I’m a feminist until that song comes on
What's there to feel guilty about, for me it's just a pleasure.
@ I say guilty pleasure purely due to how others perceive the song
* sees the title *
Isn't that like half of the industry?
Me remembering Moka is 20 and Iroha's d one who is 16
Like that is so good and it's not that explicit
I know this whole video was about girl groups but what about boy groups with inappropriate lyrics. NCT Dream for example. I'm a huge fan but there's Chewing Gum and Drippin...
It wasn't all girl groups.
There is nothing wrong with Chewing Gum. That is one of the most innocent songs there.
Out of topic, but Asa looks like jinx here 5:44
Nowadays songs are Like this 😂❤❤
Like that is written keeping in mind of pop culture.
Im here 45 min after releaseee
Next do an analysis American rap lyrics 😂😂😂
Well, American Raps like that are mostly adults, if it was minors it would be different
@@alexwee8875American rappers sexualize and objectify women and don’t receive any backlash
How about Bite Me of Enha? it got huge critiscm tho
How about Lisa's Moonlit floor lyrics 😁 not to mention its Christmas or Santa version😂
Shes an adult and is free to date so I dont really see anything wrong with her singing the song
She isnt kpop
Which lyric are you referring to???
Lisa's an adult, she can sing about whatever she wants to
Lisa is 27...
8:24 moka is 20 and you probably meant Wonhee and Iroha
Blackpink's ice cream song is cringe as well.
They're adults. And the song was supposed to be about s€x
YOUNG POSSEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Never heard of that in Australia either
I'm Australian and have never heard of the "cookie" reference before.
I’m American and have never heard “cookie” used to describe that.
In the case of cookie this is what happens when you decide to use a fucking snack item as slang for well errrrm……I need not even say because idk who’s bright idea it was to use “cookie” as a slang term for that but now because of that it’s hard to read those lyrics without it sounding so weird and it’s funny because I liked the song and found it very catchy but when I looked at the lyrics I was like “uh wtf” and it just ruined the song for me because here I am thinking about various kinds of cookies like chocolate chip peanut butter snickerdoodles mint chocolate etc and then I’m hit with that
Cookie and war of hormone were beyond bizzare
Fr
War of Hormone is a bop, I don't have any issue with it.
@ It’s definitely a weird song tho.
Unlike the other idols, BTS/Namjoon was upset that he may have upset his fans and actually LEARNED about feminism and corrected himself. Now get over this
I don't even think it was the BTS fans who were upset. I still love War of Hormone.
@crystalsnow1138 me too! I think it's cute
No one talking about Enhypen?
8:20 this is wrong sorry! Iroha is 16 and Wonhee is 17 😅
8:20 moka is 20, iroha is 16 TvT
It's not that bad honestly speaking, although Exo were Newbies, they aren't babies, the macaroni cheese issue issue is a problem, BTS's War of Hormone was fine though, it's basically about them growing up and seducing a girl, but I get why they were upset, as for New Jeans, the cookie song was fine, it's just the international fans who found it inappropriate, as for babymonster's song, it was pretty inappropriate, 😮
It’s always HYPE group
Trying to appease feminists is like trying to boil the ocean.
You mean iroha and wonhee not moka cause she's 20
@@ashantythegreat3231i really don't know why they are okay with Minors singing suggestive songs and calling it "sensitive".
Bro, Moka is 20 😂. It’s like you don’t research enough to get your facts straight before publishing a video
I THINK YOU MUST BE 10 YRS OLD. QUIT TRYING TO READ WHAT IS NOT THERE
And I love like that
Wonhee and ???
Young Posse is one of the worst group names ever....
Hey guys just wanna tell you that Jesus loves you all have a merry Christmas yall
Good frickin grief. Y'all are so thinskinned.
Exo growl my favorite song
it's good to know that you can't pronounce english names either
But kpop as a whole is an extremely exploitative genre regarding their talent.
young posse? idk but even the group name is kinda...
8:36 Ava doesn't support Israel. It's rumours. She even posted donation links to Palestine
