As a straight South African Black man who has watched your channel before you moved to South Africa. I found you knowledgeable and emotionally mature.
Your POV about SA is so spot on. African Americans and Black South Africans have a lot of similarities because of our experience of coming from white supremacy government.
The person telling you how terrible SA is was probably White & it's not that they were wrong, it's just that they wouldn't have complained so vigorous during Apartheid when "Blacks knew our place".
The same is true about America. I'm sure there are some White Europeans who hate the way the demographic and social mobility of people they saw to be inferior.
I also love what you said about no matter how financially successful you were in thr States. There were some people who wouldn't want you in that space. That was powerful. Honestly, it's not that South Africa is better but Black people fought for and are fighting for our space here. We are an African country, yes we have 1st world development & 3rd World problems but we are African at the end of the day.
South Africa is also one of the only African countries where you can be openly LBGTQIA. South African Homosexuas fought for their rights here & we have a very liberal constitution. We legalized Homosexual unions before the US and some European States.
We have a history of social activism here, so it was bound to happen. I guess that what happens if you were Colonialisrd for 300 years followed by 50 years of Apartheid. You tend to side with oppressed and marginalised people.
Glad you enjoy & are Enjoying South Africa. Please continue to be honest about my home. Some of us who were born and have ansestory here probably don't appreciate what we have & also what wr can do to make it better. I enjoy your communication style, it's a strength of yours.
    Much Love❤️❤️❤️❤️🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿

As a Southern african whose lived in SA and a nomad, I am honestly so proud and happy about how balanced and well informed your review was for one of Africa’s jewels. So many review new cities (especially cities across mama Africa) with bias, no perspective/closed mindedness and most notably, no research. This approach always fuels cringeworthy discourse/ conversations about traveling/living in the continent. People need to accept every country has costs and benefits/good and bad and an analysis is always good but its good to be open and embrace new experiences because you’ll always have some good and generally, you can adjust and account for the bad.

Hey, for Americans asking about dating culture in Southy I wanna say that it’s very different. In Southy if you go on multiple dates with someone it indicates that your allowing a relationship to form therefore it’s frowned upon if the person is going on dates with other people. If you’re dating for fun it should be stated.

It's the same in America if you go on multiple dates with the same person it's means that you are an item but some people take advantage of the actual meaning of dating. They don't like to say dating is a commitment they like to say that we're just friends and we go out from time to time. Most men do that because they don't want to commit because they're afraid that they may meet someone else then they fancy. Meaning they're putting the other person on hold. Men and women do this in America.

Funny enough, I'm a South African and when I started dating, it was like you said, very intentional. Looking back, I see exactly what you said about Americans finding our dating style different because my partner, being an American, acted exactly like you said - thought that I was fast, but I was just being intentional about dating. Long story short, we ended up getting married and I moved to the USA.

I saw this other tiktoker talking about how cheap it is in South Africa and going to really expensive places.Yes, it may be cheap to him but the way he vocalized it, it was kinda demeaning to the people wh9 work hard to try make ends meet. Thank you for this video Mj❤️❤️

I can see why as an American you’d think that SA isn’t racists, America (from movies &t but shows) is portrayed as a super racist country and that compared to the racism we experience here in SA, it makes sense why you’d think there’s virtually no racism. But for someone that’s only lived in this country their entire life, we see the racism and we feel it especially in Cape Town.
But really enjoyed your “review”, it shows you’ve invested your time in getting to know the country.

The whole Western Cape is the most racist province in the country. Even more racist than the Free-State, which is wild. Apparently America is racist, but I didn’t experience anything when I was there. They were really good to me.
