I remember hearing this during one of the worst relapses of PTSD I’ve ever had. I was just I trying to stay alive. I stayed alive. That was 8 years ago. I heard these words so clearly.
This song played randomly on my computer in the middle of the night whilst I was waiting for news of my dying daughter. I had never heard the song before and although I knew of Mumford and Sons, am not a fan or take any notice of their music. The day after it played I typed the lyrics (I’d remembered a few) into Google and was astounded. My daughter died from pharmaceutical drug abuse and was trying to cure herself of some conditions she had. It will never leave me how this happened and gives me, a complete sceptic, some faith that there is some form of energy that can contact us near death
This right here is the purpose of music. It may not make sense to anyone else but you, but if it connects and resonates then it has done the most magical thing in the world and connected to you without even being animate
I saw these guys the first time they toured Australia at the Townsville Convention centre in QLD completely acoustic. I'm talking them telling everyone to shut up and be really quite. No mics, no enhanced guitars, nothing. Just them singing in a quite hall, you could hear a pin drop. I think it's about one of the most impressive things I've ever seen in my life. Extremely moving and something I'll remember for the rest of my life.
They did the same thing in LA stadium except they used a a single mic but other than that it was 100% acoustic. Not even the guitars had the mics in them
I had found a group called Beelzebubs.from Tufts university. They did a cover of this in A cappella form. I quickly learned the words and began to sing it. I sang it so much that by the end of the day my O2 levels had returned to a normal level. The words were so moving, so powerful; I had to find out who did the original. That is when I found Mumford & Sons. I just wanted to say thank you to all of them. They are responsible for bringing back from the edge of death along with very skilled docs.
I found this song while watching Hell on Wheels. I found this video & began absorbing the song, the lyrics. I cried & didn't know why. Then one week later....my brother in law died in a one car crash, traveling a road he'd travelled perhaps 1000's of times throughout his full life....then I knew why this song grabbed me so.. they lyrics.I still listen & remember him & feel for my nephew & sister when I listen & absorb Timshel.
I was watching the Movie " Hell on Wheels" a battle scene, this was the background soundtrack. It pierced my heart. Words can not explain how moving that song was, those voices combine with lyrics was incredible. I had to fight back tears.
this is the most beautiful song I've ever heard. Have been listening to this since it came out and still have not heard a more beautiful song than this one.
I liked these guys. Then I saw them in Birmingham Alabama last week. One of the best shows I've seen in over 40 years. INCREDIBLE TALENT (Only problem on the tour is getting the idiots to SDFU when they played ballads like this.) And thanks for the great upload.
WHEN MUSIC HITS THE HEART THERE IS NOTHING TO COMPARE NO DRUG NO RUSH JUST NOTHING COMES CLOSE BUT SADLY NOT MANY CAN GET TO THIS LEVEL THESE DAYS BECAUSE ITS ALL ABOUT FAME AND FORTUNE THAT'S WHERE TH OLDER BANDS GET IT AND THE YOUNG OF TODAY DO NOT !! NOT ALL I AGREE BUT MOST HOW SAD IS THAT IF WE ARE TO BE HONEST ?????????????
Clap, Clap, Clap!!!! I Love this song. How were you able to get this on Hell on Wheels? When I watched the episode with this song playing, I immediately had to come to You Tube and search for it. Very good song and instrument playing, gentlemen, I hope only the best of luck for a long musical future for all of you. God bless. Patty. (I just wish they would play this on the radio more, ugh!)

These four men... They're God's gift to music!
I like to watch them, seeing them preform makes the song more beautiful in my opinion, Anyone else?
Yes it does..
Ravi Sharma hahahaha
Cassia Docos I have watched them at Leeds festival, Hyde park and Birmingham. Also going Berlin next year. ;)
Most definitely. I can watch them preform for... ♾
I love how they sing together. There is a lead singer but the band together does such an amazing job emphasizing certain lyrics. Brilliant.
