They actually had very little to do with the music video. The director came up with it all and shot it. The band saw it and approved. That’s about all they did lol
@@jaweiss34 The close-up shots you can see where the banjo is smoking while being played was their actual banjo player, Winston Marshall. He visited the set during the shoot and filled in on those shots for actual playing. He also saw the kiss between Jason Sudeikis and Will Forte and thought it was absolutely brilliant.

They only get hate because they're not a 'pop' group yet they're still popular. People that only like pop music don't like them for that reason, they don't really understand music made with actual instruments (I'm talking modern pop here), and then people that like less popular music used to like them whilst they were 'indie' but now they're popular so they don't.
Basically people that hate this band hate it because they're trying to impress people who are into the same music fashions as them, the people that never really think about the music itself.

sicklysweet I don't care if they're hipsters they make good music that's made with real instruments. They are things that most people who listen to pop music don't seem to know exist.
