It's the demographic of the fans of Bieber, Grade and Miley Cyrus; they're too young to be interested in Mumford & Sons (which is a real shame if you ask me.)
I love that he chose to play Timshel, the most appropriate song for the occasion, instead of one of Mumford's more popular songs like Little Lion Man or The Cave. This song would have sent out such a powerful message to the crowd even though hardly anyone knew it.
Lil Badass Correct, he was born in California to English parents. He lived there for a very short period of time before moving back to the UK. He's British with a US passport through birth
I'm surprised that so many people hadn't heard of Marcus Mumford or Mumford and sons, shits been around for roughly 8 years now and I've always been a huge fan of his and their work
konkelkent i have been to a lot of concerts before i saw mumford live in vienna last year. i did not take one picture or a video because i was blown away by their incredible live performance!!
This song didn't get the recognition it needed on the night, by farrrr the most emotional and cutting song with such meaningful words. Marcus, you are an amazing man. God Bless Mumford and Sons
Cold is the water It freezes your already cold mind Already cold, cold mind And death is at your doorstep And it will steal your innocence But it will not steal your substance But you are not alone in this And you are not alone in this As brothers we will stand and we'll hold your hand Hold your hand And you are the mother The mother of your baby child The one to whom you gave life And you have your choices And these are what make man great His ladder to the stars But you are not alone in this And you are not alone in this As brothers we will stand and we'll hold your hand Hold your hand But I will tell the night And whisper, "Lose your sight" But I can't move the mountains for you
Best performance I've seen so far in One Love Manchester; from the song choice and slightly altering the lyrics, to the way he looks at the audience as if he was looking into their souls, and choosing to play along instead of the hole band... Extremely powerful.
Ignacio Borges when I saw that he was playing and not Mumford and Sons I was like “umm that’s weird maybe he’s gonna play I will wait with a band or something.” Then I saw this. One of, if not the best, performances there. So emotional and powerful
I was in the middle of a panic attack when a friend sent me this, knowing how much I love his band; by the end of the video I couldnt stop crying but felt so much better ♥
MARCUS 😢 I didn't know he was performing at One Love & I was already in bits and then he came out singing Timshel & I was in bits. The one hand you see waving at the front is little me, he came out & said straight away to have a minutes silence for the victims & I was bawling my eyes out trying not to scream at him. How did noone know him or his insanely good music?!?!?!
It's sad this hasn't got more recognition in comparison to the other performances. Such an appropriate choice of song, and even changed some of the lyrics for the concert. Absolutely beautiful
Ladies and Gentlemen this is what you call music, I'm so grateful to be alive to witness such a great musician (band). Marcus and the band always stay true to their roots and everytime he touched that mic his voice is Gold.
I met Marcus a few years ago in my home city of Manchester and thanked him for this beautiful performance seeing as I knew a few people who had been at the concert during the attack. He was so lovely and signed my CD with ‘I
Mumford & Son's will go down as one of the best bands of all time. they have not a single bad song. phenomenal musicians and people. best performance of the entire one love manchester concert.
My absolute favorite! Their music is on another level! Can't believe people don't know who they are! Such a perfect song and message for this concert. Mumford & Sons are amazing!! 🇺🇸❤️🇬🇧
I love that he chose to join and perform specifically timshel, even though the ariana and mumford and sons-crowds perhaps don't overlap that much. so powerful, appropriate, and I mean; just the way he looks at the crowd. god this was beautiful.
fantastic opening song at such a sad time for those in London but this just shows WE CAN AND WILL STAND TOGETHER AND STAND STRONG . My love and prayers for all those affected by the atrocities in both Manchester and London and my greatest respect to all the artists that came together for this and all those involved xx
Yes, "Let's not be afraid." Let's not let terrorists win by caving in to hate and taking the "holy war" bait. Let's keep calm, live our lives, and hold fast to social justice, peace, and true democratic values. The crowd and performers at "One Love Manchester" are amazing. Love them and their message. ☮️on 🌏.
Nobody knew who he was?!?!? Every single person there knows who he is. That was the opening of the concert, and this is one of the most graceful, moving and poingnant performances I have ever seen. I was humbled by Marcus Mumfords performance of "I was young when I left Home" and this is equally as powerful and emotional.
It's been almost a year since I saw Mumford & Sons live and it was amazing. Marcus is one of those singers that sounds absolutely flawless both on the radio and in person. Absolutely lovely performance. ❤️
im surprised nobody knew who he was. Considering how successful he is. This song is the most appropriate of all of the songs performed tonight.
In my opinion he didn't get enough stage time...
definitely. so many of his solo songs that featured in Inside Llewyn Davis or his Mumford & Sons songs would've also been great for the occasion
It's the demographic of the fans of Bieber, Grade and Miley Cyrus; they're too young to be interested in Mumford & Sons (which is a real shame if you ask me.)
I agree!
Sean Conway I love Mumford and Sons
He looks like he's deeply observing each person's soul damn
It always seem that way cause he always smile at people in the audience.
That's what happens when you have skilled singer-songwrighters like Marcus Mumford, Frank Turner, and Will Varley.
B Criss yes yes yes i agree.
I believe he is.
Definitely and it's very sexy!
He popped out and I swear to god there and then I burst into tears. I love him so much, everyone was just like "who the fuck is this?!" bitch, try me.
I would literally do the same omg!!!
Jess Rigby just brought me to tears.
I love that he changed the lyrics from "as brothers we will stand" to "together we will stand"
He also changed "And it WILL steal your innocence" to 'And it MAY steal your innocence'. I love Marcus and Mumford & Sons sooo much!
Nick P
Good spot sir!
Suppose he's gotta keep the SJWs happy...
What on earth has this to do with SJWs? I swear, people like you are the biggest snowflakes of all and you don't even realize it.
@@OpheliaNL no petal, sadly I have to agree with Luke. Tiss you who is the snowflake.
I love that he chose to play Timshel, the most appropriate song for the occasion, instead of one of Mumford's more popular songs like Little Lion Man or The Cave. This song would have sent out such a powerful message to the crowd even though hardly anyone knew it.
The power of music 1 man, 1 guitar, 1 song, 1 moment even threw in 1 minutes silence nailed it.
ThatchCroyde
Yeah ...believe it
No auto tune, no drums, no backing singers. Just a man with his guitar
Most beautiful voice! Mumford and sons are one of the best British bands of our time. So heartfelt ❤️
Be safe everyone 💕
My exact same thoughts
I did not know he was British, he look like been North American _hehe_
@Naomi Priggis THIS make sense. Thanks for comment
Lil Badass Correct, he was born in California to English parents. He lived there for a very short period of time before moving back to the UK. He's British with a US passport through birth

I get the chills with Timshel every time. He's so good! Mumford and Sons is so good!
watched them live once, its unbelievable how good he is live. its just mind blowing.
konkelkent i have been to a lot of concerts before i saw mumford live in vienna last year. i did not take one picture or a video because i was blown away by their incredible live performance!!
konkelkent the band has so much energy on stage, don't they?
You can feel it in the air
Saw them at Leeds fest completely by accident and one of the best live artists I’ve seen
The silence is deafening.
the silence is respectful.
One of the most emotional performanes of the night
Lyrically talking
“Let’s not be afraid…”
This song didn't get the recognition it needed on the night, by farrrr the most emotional and cutting song with such meaningful words. Marcus, you are an amazing man. God Bless Mumford and Sons
I clicked on this so fast. This man has my heart. 💜
Same
Marcus mumford wow what a way to open such a monumental event rest in peach you lovely souls
Ugh! I just love his voice tooooo much. And this song has always been one of my favorites of him and his band. Definitely touching.
Cold is the water
It freezes your already cold mind
Already cold, cold mind
And death is at your doorstep
And it will steal your innocence
But it will not steal your substance
But you are not alone in this
And you are not alone in this
As brothers we will stand and we'll hold your hand
Hold your hand
And you are the mother
The mother of your baby child
The one to whom you gave life
And you have your choices
And these are what make man great
His ladder to the stars
But you are not alone in this
And you are not alone in this
As brothers we will stand and we'll hold your hand
Hold your hand
But I will tell the night
And whisper, "Lose your sight"
But I can't move the mountains for you
Elena in Movieland Two lyrics changed in this performance, "may steal your innocence", and "together we'll stand".
and we have our choices (:

I sang this song at my mom's funeral. Thank you, Marcus.
Timshel, and After Her Storm. Marcus' writing genius at his absolute best.

defiantly doesn't get as much praise as he should. Marcus Mumford is so amazing
i didn't know this guy.. but wow, what a voice and what a successful performance
It's sad this hasn't got more recognition in comparison to the other performances. Such an appropriate choice of song, and even changed some of the lyrics for the concert. Absolutely beautiful
My favourite songwriter of all time
My favourite performance of the night

How he silenced the audience with that was truly amazing. Everyone took that song in. Perfect.
Marcus Mumford sang the perfect song for the perfect moment.
He just sang with his heart and his soul.
Marcus, we love you
Ladies and Gentlemen this is what you call music, I'm so grateful to be alive to witness such a great musician (band). Marcus and the band always stay true to their roots and everytime he touched that mic his voice is Gold.

Love it how Marcus slows parts of the song down to really connect the lyrics to this attack, and what the people are healing from
